I know leg cramps are apart of pregnancy but I feel like I'm willing to saw to leg off at this point. I hydrate a lot and just have no idea how not to wake up with excruciating pain in my calves every morning !
View 1 RepliesI'm 17 years old, 6 ft. 175lbs and frequent soccer player. Starting my sophomore year in Highschool I would get a cramp in both of my calves when I started jogging or running for long periods at a time. In pre season I pulled an area of my hamstring badly, not sure of the specifics but I believe it's the connector of your butt and hamstring. I had continued to play on it until I started physical therapy and addressed it( I would still get cramps when playing on it) I was diagnosed as having plantar fasciitis and began working on my calves and feet in physical therapy. Still nothing solved this, and I was fit while being only age 16 at the time. Still had calf cramps. I turned to custom orthotics which took months to break in until one game I noticed a huge change. I ran at a decent speed for a whole game, our team had no subs so I was forced to stay I although with little cramps, the day after I could barely walk. That was the last full game I played at center defense. Ever since that game I noticed that my butt sticks out more because it seems my pelvis is out of line. The cramps persisted after even though I had gone a game with no cramps. Conditioning still had no effect as after even 2 laps I would begin feeling strong tension. I ended up breaking my ankle junior season for soccer in Highschool and am now getting back into things, except that I can't run more than 5 minutes. My right hip is abducted( turns inward) and it was never like this before. I'm result my back is tighter, my knees rotate in, and basically my whole lower body is torqued and the muscles have unbelievable tightness. Wondering if this sounds like compartmentalism?
View 1 RepliesBeen suffering migraines since I was very young, junior school I believe. Am now 23 and for the most part learnt to live with migraines. I get them more commonly in hot weather but have always just dosed myself up and tried as hard as possible to get through the working day and broke down when I get home. Last sunday however I got a migraine which was relentless, on the wednesday I started getting sudden bursts of agonising pain on top of the migraine a few times an hour roughly which would have be wriggling about and then it would suddenly stop and go back to a normal migraine. I had this until the friday when I was sleeping and got this burst of pain so much worse that I was screaming into the bed and pulling at my hair, I either fell straight asleep or passed out briefly after and woke migraine free. On that friday and since ive been getting deep crampy pains in my lower legs. Anyone know of any of these symptoms or the leg thing and whether it's related or why it may happen?

This is the third day and even though I am no longer totally fatigued as I was with the bendro, I am experiencing very dry mouth, Cough, cramp in lower legs, heartburn sensation in chest. Not due to see my GP for 3 more weeks. Hopefully will settle down
View 1 RepliesI have been on 400mg of Plaquenil for 7 months now, but for the last 2 months I have been experiencing muscle problems in my legs, it is so painful that I am yelling out with pain. I stopped taking the Plaquenil and the muscle problems stopped. My GP (American Dr) advised that the Plaquenil was the cause of my pain, although my GP (English) advised that he did not think it was the medication. I am now confused because once I stopped the medication my pain went away? I am now waiting to see my RA but have been waiting for 2 months now, and been on no medication since. Now my bloods are really high again and all my pains and symptoms are back. As anyone else had the same issue with this medication?
View 9 RepliesI am 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow, yay! I had 2 miscarriages last year and this would be my first baby so every little thing is making me panic slightly! I had an internal scan at 7 weeks and we saw a little jellybean with a heart beating it was amazing! Sonographer was very happy with how everything looked so that took a weight off my shoulders.
However for the past 2 days I have been getting these slight cramps/muscle spams in my right Lower back.. I'm not sure if it's where I sit at a computer all day or where I've been driving or maybe even slept funny but it's starting to worry me. It feels as though my muscle just along my waistline on my back is being pulled and stretched. It doesn't happen all the time just every now and then.
My blood calcium level is 10.6. So far what I've read on the Internet it looks like parathyroid disease but I'm not sure. I just tested again on calcium and the parathyroid but I won't know anything till next week and I'm going out of town tomorrow and I know I won't be able to enjoy myself like I should worrying about this. So I have all the symptoms like painful joints, unable to focus, tired, dizzy, tingling legs and feet and easily set off. But what worries me is that a year ago it was discovered I have an enlarged pituitary gland that I haven't followed up on and I've read something about that. Also I am a smoker so does anyone know if I would feel like this if its cancer. I've had issues with my neck for awhile. It was swollen a couple of years ago to where it felt like a golf ball in the back. Now it feels tight in the front. Could it be throat cancer?

I have already gone up a cup size and my lower tummy is already poking out a bit but it's firm not fat. I really don't have anyone to compare notes with :)
View 11 RepliesLong story short I am miserable and ended up in labor and delivery last night at 38 and 4 due to being light headed dizzy nauseous and seeing spots. They checked me and the nurse said my cervix was "extremely posterior" but didn't explain anything about what this could mean. Apparently I am only 1cm dilated and 70% effaced as well. Anyone else been told this or know what it means? Am I not going to be able to go into labor on my own?

View 1 RepliesSeveral days ago, I developed Edema (or Oedema) overnight in both my feet, ankles and calves up to my knees. This is my third bout of edema. The first was last year but only in my right foot and the second time was a couple of months ago, again in both feet and ankles but was very mild.
Two days later, the swelling became so severe, both my feet looked bruised and turned a funny red colour. The pain became that powerful, I couldn't walk whatsoever.
Im in UK so I rang 111 NHS helpline who sent out an ambulance. The paramedics arrived and were shocked as they had never seen edema so severe before. This was a Saturday and my GP closed so they arranged an appointment with an out of hours GP at my local hospital in the next hour.
He had no idea what the cause was and was that worried, he sent me to another hospital 30 miles away to see a specialist. I arrived and was admitted in straight away for tests and observation.
They took blood and urine tests, a chest x ray, a heart reading straight away. But they couldn't link a diagnosis with the edema. They flooded me with antibiotics assuming that it was an infection.
I was discharged the day after as the redness and pain levels seemed to have gone down a little after the antibiotics and i will be returning soon for an ECG and other scans. I left with walking sticks so that I could walk around easier .
Now today its been almost a week. I still need the walking sticks to walk, the swellings is still huge, the pitting is still evident but i do think the antibiotics is helping some.
But I really wish I could know what this is as its very worrying. The docs couldn't see a problem with my heart, liver or kidneys. I have also been tested for DVT and gout. My blood sugar is fine. The only possible resolution is that it cold have some link with the hot weather, but that wasn't confirmed.
Has anyone else had severe painful edema in both legs and the doctors couldn't find a diagnosis?
My current medications I take regularly are: Mirtazapine 45 mg and Hydroxyzine 25mg.
Can anyone advice or share their experiences? Is there anything I can do to help minimise the risk of this happening again? If this is heat related, I'm going to have a hell time every time it gets hot. But surely 'hot weather' cant just be the only explanation there is why I have major swelling in both my legs and feet.
I have had for many years twitching in both calves. The twitching looks like a rippling motion, primarily when at rest, but I can feel the ripple when the calves are not at rest. I have not seen anyone about this and am not aware of what may be causing it.
View 1 RepliesI'm 6 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I'm experiencing heavy bleeding and really painful cramps but no blood clots. I'm very afraid I may be having a miscarriage. The bleeding has been going on for 4 days now and my cramping started tonight but it's a very sharp constant cramping. Nothing like my period cramps.
There are many websites but non explain on bleeding, cramping but no blood clots... Am I or am I not having a missed miscarriage?
My doctor gave me an apt for 2 weeks from today!!! He knows about the bleeding however not the painful cramping since it started late tonight...
Does nerve pain on the feet and calves go away after spinal surgery? I've been suffering from burning nerve pain since my back surgery. I had a laminectomy and fusion at t22 l1.
What can I do to help. Other imaging?
Whenever i go jogging, within 5-10 minutes, the calf muscles near my shin starts cramping/tightening up, I think it's the soleus. Usually one leg cramps up a lot more than the other but not tired one bit. I run on asic gel 1100, got them about 3 weeks ago and i run on a trail in a park. Also sometimes my calves don't cramp up but instead my hips hurt. Is it my running form or something else?
