Volvo - S60 :: 2004 Dies When Turn Left (occasionally)
Feb 3, 2012
I have a 2004 Volvo, 98,000, S60. The car has died on my about 3 times, weeks apart, when turning right. My first indication is when I can't steer, I throw on the emergency flashers, put in park, turn ignition and it starts right up and I go on my way. Took to my mechanic and he said he could not replicate. Did test the battery, which was low, bought a new battery, but it did it again today.

I have a 97 Volvo 850 GLT. About a week ago I noticed that my AC/Heater Fan (Blower?) was screeching when I made a left or right turn. Today, I saw water pouring out of the passenger side foot well during the screeching and turning. Then coming home from work the AC/Heater Fan died. There is still cold air coming out of the system; it's just not blowing out. I have had the evaporator replaced (twice!) so I hope it isn't that because if it is, I am getting rid of this car. That would be a shame because it just turned 100,000 miles recently so it's still a baby!

Have 2005 F150 5.4L 4WD Unit is trying to engage on all left hand curves and occasionally on straightaways, it has been doing this for about 1 month on left hand curves but just the last week on straightaways when it does it on straights you almost have to stop the tuck before it quits, has 70,000 miles and never been abused.

What's going on?! When I drive my 2004 volvo xc70 on the freeway, sometimes there is a vertical line pattern cut into the road. These lines cause my car to wobble left and right about two inches! It feels very scary to drive like this at freeway speeds. What's causing this and how do I get it fixed?

Ok have a slight lack of information but ill explain this the best I can. Friend of mine has an 04 5.4 that occasionally wont start. turn the key and gets nothing. other times it will start right up. thinking this is either a starter or ignition switch issue just trying to verify before he drops what money he has to try and fix it. When the truck fails to start he says he hears a click from under the hood and that's it, but if he tries it several times occasionally it will finally turn over and start. I did try to search for this prior but found nothing so I think I'll just have him get the starter test and go from there.

'04 RX330: Starting about a year ago, occasionally when inserting the ignition key it wouldn't turn to start. Take key out try again and it would start. Progressively, it seems to be requiring more and more in/out cycles to get the key to turn. It's like the transponder is not recognizing the key FOB. I have two keys, one is a master and other is a sub key, both have the problem. What has to be done to correct it? I'm afraid the dealer will just change some expensive ignition part when there's an easier fix.

We have a 2.4 t. S60 lately my wife says the low oil pressure message comes on, occasionally. Checked the oil level, it's good. Cars maintain e has been done regularly since new. One friend says the oil pan gasket has been known to loose it seal. He thinks I should change the gasket. The car sounds good and has this occasional problem for about a week.

My 1998 Volvo S70 with 215,000 runs like a dream but it occasionally will not start. The starter sounds like it wants to turn the engine over and all of the electronics work when the key is turned. My mechanic has looked at everything and cannot figure it out. The car at times will not start and if it is left alone for a while it will then start. I have had it towed to his shop after not starting and once it arrived he had no problem starting it. What could be going on?

I have a 1997 88 with 79k. When the engine is warm and my foot is off the gas, the car occasionally dies. I can restart it each time this occurs.

When I turn the steering wheel all the way one way the truck dies and I was on the highway and getting off the highway and I was doing about 60 and put it in neutral and I was coasting and it died... when I put it in neutral the tach went down to idle then the needle went up to about 1500 and dropped back down to idle then the truck died.

Volvo XC90 T6 AWD (2004) Changed my battery and now my turn signals won't work, won't show from display panel (interior) or light up (exterior), and my fog lamps are also not working. Used a memory settings save backup and checked fuses but can't figure out what's wrong. Electrical worked fine before battery change. Battery was aftermarket (non-OEM).

This has been a great car, until it developed this weird thing. It will occasionally stall while being driven. no warning, the motor just dies. It is a manual trans. and sometimes will restart if I downshift. I have become adept at slamming on the hazard lights and pulling over.

The car occasionally stalls while at a stop and the car is idling. The car is supposed to idle at 900RPM but is idling at 550RPM. What would be suggested to prevent the car from stalling?

How to go about fixing my 1987 AMC eagle. I recently just purchased the service manual and am trying to figure out what I should repair first. I noticed a few weeks ago my car wouldn't idle in the cold. After bringing it to the shop multiple times it still does not run right. In fact, it seems to have gotten worse and has even died while going around 45 mph. Once it does die I find it very difficult to start. I have noticed some bad smells while trying to start it again sometimes gas..sometimes almost a burning rubber smell. (The belts are still in tact) Once it starts again it acts much like it had gotten flooded.
The motor seems to be fine and sounds good when running at proper temp. Recently, it will even die when the engine is all warmed up.Often when I get back in the car after driving it (while engine is still warm) I can turn it over almost instantaneously it doesn't necessarily sound good though. I noticed before all of this began that it would putter when going down a steep hill (or letting off of gas). Do I need to rebuild the carburetor ? Could it be as simple as a bad pcv valve? I have already put in 600+ into fixing this and no results. I am pretty convinced it some sort of fuel issue. I am also concerned the choke might be sticking and needs adjusting.
I brought it into the shop and they tightened the timing belt and secured some loose battery cables. They also said I needed to replace the battery which I then did. This did nothing to improve the how well my car ran. I brought it back and they replaced the distributor cap and adjusted the timing which apparently was way off. This did improve the performance of the vehicle but did not stop it from dying.

I have a 2002 Toyota Echo that had been sitting for a few months. Recently I tried to start it and it will not start. It sounds like it is wanting to start and occasionally starts for a brief moment but then instantly dies. I have been doing some research to see what could be the problem and my guess is that pulley on the ac compressor is not turning.
My first question I guess is whether that sounds correct or could it be something that I am overlooking.
My second question is, if it is the compressor, how can I fix it. I do not want to replace the compressor, I have seen how much this can cost. I would prefer to just eliminate the ac all together. I saw a question on yahoo in a similar case where someone mentioned a bypass pulley, but I haven't been able to find any for my vehicle.

My daughter has a 89 740GL that has an issue where after about 10 minutes or so of running it just quits. Shes a new driver so it really scares her when it happens. I read that it could be the FI relay; nope I replaced that and it does run better, but after awhile with me driving it to make sure shes good, it died!
Started right back up, but died nonetheless.

I have a 99 Volvo V70. Sometimes when I start it, it turns over and then dies right away. It may do it once, or it may do it several times, but it will start start eventually. I am bringing it in to the garage next week, but they don't seem to think they will be able to fix it unless it happens while the car is in the garage. Since it doesn't happen every day, I'm worried that they won't be able to fix the problem. If so, why did your car die right after starting?

I did manage to get the key to the ACC position so I left it there and dis-connected to battery so it would not drain due to some power being on. I removed the plastic clamshell around the steering column and popped off the top portion of the lower interior panel underneath the steering column to gain access to the lock cylinder to try to remove the ignition cylinder.
My problem is the transponder ring/illumination ring looks like it needs to be removed prior to removing the ignition cylinder but the dash is covering that portion and I can't figure out how to get that ring off to remove the ignition cylinder .

My 98 Chrysler sebring has a fast idle at about 1500, occasionally dies but will restart, and has been making the garage smell like gas. Can't seem to figure out the problem.

I drive a 2004 Volvo v70 (non turbo). It died on me about 3 times in 5 years on tight turns ((switchback). It hadn't happened for a couple of years but now it has stopped 3 times in the last couple of months. It is very dangerous as the steering stops working and I have to totally stop, put my car in park and restart.
