View 1 RepliesI have a 95.5 Isuzu Rodeo, V6, 165k and am having a hell of a time finding parts. Apparently every issue I am having, so is everyone else by the looks of the salvage yards.
Interior door handles. All my doors went to shit within a month of each other. The black plastic piece that attaches the handle has snapped. In all of them.
Also, the tailgate will not disengage. I can press the button in front and you can hear it click, but not catch. The key will not open it either.
The back window motors are out or in the process of going out.

There is a black plastic piece hanging and touch the ground, the noise was from this black plastic piece touching the ground. Attached is the picture.Is this a big problem? Can I continue to drive the car to repair shop to get this fixed?
View 6 RepliesI just joined up after purchasing a CPO 2010 Prius IV. Love the car but after taking a closer look I noticed that one side of the bottom black plastic cover was drooping on one side. Upon closer inspection I noticed that there was a screw and plastic Grommet combination that was not locked into place. After unscrewing the screw, I tried to put the grommet back in place but noticed that it couldn't fit because (I believe) the white bumper portion where the grommet goes broke off. I compared it to the other side of the car and yes it does seem like part of the plastic top portion that is connected to the bumper broke off.
I inspected the bottom some more and it seems like there are a good number of screws missing and a large plastic piece that is the front tire well is also very loose.
So it looks like my truck has a new issue. I thought I had picked up some white paint from the road, and somehow kicked it up onto the black underside of my driver's door. When I looked closer to see how I could clean it up, I realized it is actually the black coating peeling off of the white paint. What I have is exposed white body paint in a stripe on the bottom of my door. I checked it a little more closely, and there are several other areas on the door where this is starting to happen as well.
View 13 RepliesI went on vacation for a week and left my car at my parents house. I came back and now it has become extremely difficult to shift between gears. It's nearly impossible to get the car into reverse, extremely difficult to get it into first, makes a thud when pulling it out of first, is semi difficult to get into 2nd, but only a mild nuisance to get into 3rd through 6th.
For more information, the car is a 2012 Volkswagen GLI with just shy of 40,000 miles. The car ran just fine before I went on vacation and the car was not moved while I was on vacation. I did notice that a little ticking kind of sound when I had the car in neutral with no clutch. So the throw out bearing was starting to wear, but it was a very slight. But I haven't had any other problems.
I heard some scraping under my car and pulled over to check it out and the plastic piece under the car was hanging down. I took it off all the way so it wouldn't get damaged any more, and took it to the dealer. The piece was torn off in almost a perfect straight line, which they told me was from the piece being bent for oil changes. They didn't have the part in stock and I was going on a long trip the next day, so they put the piece back in place with new clips and zip ties. The dealer said it should be replaced at the next oil change which will be 60k for me.
View 11 RepliesSo I used to have my phone holder clipped to the vents to the left of the steering wheel. Key words, used to. One day, one of the clips snapped as I was putting my phone into the holder, sending a piece of plastic about 2 inches long into the vent. At first I could see it, but since I was driving, I couldn't fish it out. Sure enough, on a turn, it disappeared completely into the dark void that is the ventilation system. Now, on every turn, I can hear the little sucker careening back and forth. Sounds like I'm gonna have to disassemble the dash to into the pipes, but maybe there's a more harmless way.

View 8 RepliesI had my 2010 Camry up on a hoist yesterday and noticed that there is sort of a small deflector type plastic piece with about a 1 inch lip on the underbody just before the rear wheels. It is held on by two bolts. You can just barely see it and might have to bend down to get a good look at it. It is on both sides. I'm not talking about the rear mud/splash guards but the small piece before the rear tires.
What this is called and what it's purpose is?
My wife came home today and asked me to take a look at something on her brand new 1 month old Prius V 5. I asked her was there something wrong with her car. Of course she told me no, everything is fine. She opens up the driver side front car door, (she has a Barcelona Red V with Bisque faux leather interior) and points out some small scratches on the plastic silver/gray plastic piece that surrounds the power window buttons. It looks like while she was driving she probably put her hand on that area with her wedding band and diamond most likely scratching the area. This is only a guess at what caused it. I can't believe something as placing your hand down would scratch it that easily. That area probably shouldn't be plastic or should of been protected a little better.
View 6 RepliesMy car has been great until April this year. Out of nowhere, I could not unlock any door with the key FOB or black piece on the handle. I had to manually unlock it and then the car would not start.
Took it to the dealer, left it; they found nothing wrong. Same exact thing happened again in May and again on June 18th. I have only 49,390K on the car. I want to talk to Corporate but dealer will not give me the information.
I've got a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.8L engine. There's a sound coming from under the hood that sounds like a drum roll on a piece of hard plastic. No noise on idle or revving the engine while parked. Noise starts upon accelerating, seems to disappear in second gear (automatic trans), reappears in 3rd gear, disappears in 4th. Appearance and disappearance isn't consistent but seems to disappear when the engine shifts up and the rpms drop. No check engine light.
View 7 RepliesI have an 04 V6, 42,000 mi. There is an intermitent problem with the transmission. The MFI display doesn't hilite the transmission mode (P,R,N,D,S) or gear (1,2,3,4,5,6) and the tiptronic mode appears to be disabled. On occasion the transmission doesn't want to shift into higher gears. Seems to happen when the engine is cold (So Ca cold, not Mid West cold).
View 4 RepliesBought a dealer demo last may. Truck has been wonderful. Had less the 1500 miles on it. Noticed when I was installing the lock on my tailgate that some of the plugs that cover up the holes in the plastic piece inside the tailgate were missing. Maybe some of the screws, not sure. Dunno if it's supposed to be that way or what. Just started to get a horrible feeling about it, Taft maybe something major happened. Any way to find out or round they have told me? Mebbe I'm over thinking this.

Successfully installed an engine block heater ! when I was under there I noticed an opening in the plastic that covers bottom of the motor compartment It was under what looks like the transmission on the driver side of the car . I was working through the access door to the oil filter of course. Is there supposed to be two doors under the car and one just is not been replaced ?

View 11 RepliesI recently removed the top plastic cover on my '05 Camry LE V6 to pull a plug and inspect/decide if I was going to change them out. While I felt I was being careful handling the plastic cover, I grabbed it by the access hole for the oil filler cap. Walking back into the garage, some black carbon came off, and looking at the bits on the ground, and what was left on the inside of the cover, I'm not sure if there is supposed to be a gasket there.
Maybe it was just an accumulation of spilled oil over the years that has trapped and "cooked", or something put in place to capture spilled oil. I scraped the rest of the carbon off using a razor blade and cleaned it up before installing the cover.
My wife had a disagreement with the garage door this morning while trying to back my Prius out that ended with the little plastic cap that covers the joint of the rear washer being broken (It wasn't more serious!). I know it's a minor thing, but I take pristine care of my Prius and I'm a self-admitted OCD.
