I have a 2013 white Jetta, about 1 1/2yr ago i started noticing orange spots all over the car, took it to volkswagen and they said it was from brake dust, which made no sense as brake dust is gray or black, not orange. I though it would be rust but it also has it on plastic bumper. What it is.
View 1 RepliesI have a Camry 2008 LE model and there is an issue when the a/c knob is set to send air through the main vents (driver side, center console, and passenger). If it is a humid day, I see fog spots on the windshield near the windshield vents underneath it. I feel very slight air coming out of it if I put my hand over the vents.
Also a couple years back, my car got broken into so a glass shard did enter the passenger air vent -- so maybe that glass shard is somewhere in the air passage where it doesn't allow the windshield vents to be completely shut?
I washed the R this past weekend and noticed that hey are covering my car from front to back, and even on the glass. I am looking to perform this work myself.
View 24 RepliesI was washing my Elantra earlier and I noticed water spots all over the windshield when I was done cleaning it! Side, and rear windows too. What can I do to get rid of them? I tried 50/50 water and vinegar, and a lot came off but I still have quite a bit.

View 6 RepliesI had the car in to replace the inner CV boot and repair a leaking trans flex seal. About 30 minutes after I left the shop, I lost all acceleration and the car basically crawls around. Halfway to work and almost late for meetings, I was afraid it was a failing fuel pump so I rigged both fuel pump relays closed and it seemed to get better... I pulled the relays while at work, re-inserted at the end of the day and headed home. About halfway home the acceleration issues came back (with the rigged relays), and I barely made it to my driveway. Pulled codes, and see these:
16732 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G163)
P0348 - 001 - Short to Plus - MIL ON
18711 - Leak in Air Intake System
P2279 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
16408 - Bank 2: Camshaft B (Exhaust)
P0024 - 008 - Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced) - MIL ON
I checked for vacuum leaks and can't seem to find anything tell-tale. I have seen the Camshaft Position Sensor before, but the car ran fine. Probably time to get around to replacing it, but what about the Leak in Air Intake System? Car really hates to idle. Also, MIL is pretty much always on for me due to an unhappy trans that disables ESP.
Have a rust spot coming thru rear, that I am presuming is due to condensate from rear a/c.
If the rear inside panel where jack is located is removed, it is from the rear inside corner behind the jack.
I noticed the A/C was not blowing cold air. I also noticed oil spots on the driveway. I jacked up the car and there is oil coming from Evap drain line. I bought a can of refrigerent with a gauge. The A/C was low. The car took the whole 18 oz and was still low. But blows cold air now. My guess is that the evaporator is leaking.

I have a 2007 Honda Element and she'll be rolling over 200K miles later this year. Ellie runs great except for one odd little quirk and she's done it since I bought her, a year and a half ago.
As I am accelerating, if I steady my speed around two certain spots, (25ish mph and 40ish mph), my car sometimes stutters. It's almost as if she is trying to figure out what gear to be in and is bouncing between the two. Could it be something as simple as a sensor? I don't know where to start with this one.
so, i hit a deer that was already in the road dead, and it cracks my bumper in two spots, i got the insurance claim done but I'm wondering how to get out of it cheaper. the plastic engine guards under the front have come undone and are hanging down to where i scrape going over small bumps in the road.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 2.4 with approx 36k miles on it. I started noticing oil spots in the garage so I got under the car and saw that the back of the pan was covered in oil. The oil was on the rtv gasket for the pan, the back of the motor was dry so I'm under the impression that the gasket has failed. I checked the filter, and valve cover, everything is dry, the motor is dry and clean.
My question is, is this covered under the 10yr/100k warranty? I would like to avoid having to pay the $110 diagnostic fee if its not covered, since it looks like a pretty simple job dropping the pan. But if its covered by the warranty, it would be nice not having to do the work my self.
I am the first owner, and I believe the 5yr bumper to bumper warranty has expired.
I detailed the 350 today and noticed on the plate that has the "LEXUS" name on it, on the driver's threshold, that there are rust spots forming. The plate looks to be either brushed chrome or stainless steel. I'm thinking it's chrome and thus the rust. Or, could be a defective piece of stainless steel. I intend to take it in to the dealer for repair or replacement.
View 11 RepliesI have noticed that I have been getting some drip spots under my car whenever I am parked. This has only started happening in the summer. I got under there and dabbed my finger in the discharge and found it to be odorless, clear, and not viscous. Basically, I think it is just water. Could this just be condensation from the A/C system? It has been dripping under the passenger side right under the firewall.

These were not there when I bought it back in June (it is not under warranty/purchased from a small local dealer). Last week I started to notice a faint yellow tint in those spots, but it's like it's getting worse over time.

View 9 RepliesIt's hot and humid here in Illinois. Yesterday my wife was driving early in the morning with the AC on, and the windshield was fogging up on the outside. A pattern of spots showed up, and they persist after the wipers pass over the glass. They don't show up when the glass is dry, but on washing with windex they show up as the surface approaches dry.
Are these waterspots? Are they something else, like wax or oil? This is a 2010 matrix which we bought used about a month ago, so I don't know its car-washing-history, but it resided in Florida as a rental, I believe.
Or is there something else possible? Can the glass have gotten "de-laminated" enough to have some internal fogging?
So I have a 2008 escape 4wd.... I am getting a few flat spots on the inside passenger rear tire... So I figured it was the shocks so I unbolted both and cycled them and they both felt the same... There was dampening you can feel the oil going through the valves or whatever... I have felt completely bad shocks before and it was just a smooth motion when cycling the shocks... Can it still feel like there good but there not? The thing has 85k on it and I'm not sure if they have ever been replaced before..

How do they expect our truck to last. I feel like everything is becoming less serviceable every year. My 1998 Lincoln Continental had more grease spots then my f350.

Replaced:
plugs
fuel filter
O2 sensors (engine)
MAF sensor
Throttle Position Sensor
Have checker EGR valve - all looks good
Have coded OBD II, no codes coming up
Current issues are:
Flat spots from 1000rpm to approx 3000 rpm (esp on gear change from 1st to second)
Once flat spot stop, it powers up enough to throw you back in your seat.
Also, rough running when sitting on constant speed, esp bad between 65-85 Km/h.
Have recently done a 800km trip. half way through, isolated the EGR valve. Running probs have improved greatly, but still lacks power.
