Passenger side brake light is not working. Bulb is fine. Seems that the "plunger action" in the socket may be lacking. I put some WD in there.....worked for a day or so....now not working. Can I replace this socket or do I need an entire lens assembly?
View 2 RepliesMy passenger side brake light has developed a fault over the past couple of months. The brake light will work, for example, when I turn the car on both lights will come on, however if I then take my foot off the brake and re-apply it, it will not work. However later when I am driving I will notice (via reflections) that it is working again!
I am aware that the bulbs cannot be replace and that I would need to replace the whole unit (after market versions available for £75 ish). I have attempted to check the cabling and everything appears OK but I am not an expert. I just removed the rear paneling and made sure nothing was loosely connected.
We just bought a 2010 Rx 350 and the brake light on the passenger side is not working. At first, I thought I could just replace a bulb, but it appears that the brake light(s) are led bulbs and are incorporated into the housing. I removed the lamp assembly and found a ceramic resistor that appears to be connected to the led bulbs. I measured the resistance and it was right on. Are these bulbs replaceable?? If not, the car still has about 14000 miles on the warranty. I thought it would be a user serviceable part.
View 3 RepliesWe had the passenger side brake light not working in our 2002 S60. I moved the little silver tab at the socket w/ a screwdriver and it worked, but then hit the plate and both brake lights went out. Checked fuse, bulbs and swapped relay and shunt w/ out any luck. I hear a click at the relay when we use the brakes-am I missing something? Also, did the same w/ taillights and it blew a fuse, replaced and then they worked.
View 1 RepliesI have a 1997 toyota tacoma. The truck runs great. Last year I replaced the front calipers and breakpads. I drive the truck maybe 3,000 miles per year. The issue I have is that the brake light will not turn off. I checked the hand brake and it works fine. The switch on the handbrake is fine too. The really unusual thing is that randomly it will turn off. usually around 30-40MPH or when I have slammed on the brake. The brake fluid is fine. Is there a sensor in the rear on the rear pads that I may need to replace?

View 4 Replies2004 Prius. When the brakes are applied, the passenger side brake light (LEDs) is dim compared to the driver side. Are the LEDs just dying a slow death? I always thought LEDs either work or don't.
View 3 RepliesSo I have the dim brake light problem on the passenger side only. I took the whole assembly out to check it out. I removed the circuit board at the bottom and checked all of the components on it with a multimeter. Everything checked out perfectly with the components on the circuit board.
It's just a bunch of resistors connected in series and a diode. All are ok. I put everything back together and the brake LED's are still dim. Of course nothing changed. All of the LED's are lighting up. They are all just dim. The circuit board is being fed with 12 volts.
I have a 2008 Generation II Touring Edition Prius. Someone informed me that my passenger side tail light was not working. I ordered some red LEDs to replace the suspected burned out bulb. When I opened up the trap door from the inside of the rear and when I checked on the bulb, it lit up. (Thought that it had loosened itself?)
When my LEDs arrived, I unplugged the bulbs (right and left) and attempted to replace the old bulbs. The LEDs would not light up. And now the bulbs will not work either.
I went to the auto parts store and bought replacement 2825 bulbs. No go. Is there a fuse that may have blown? Or ??? I don't have a tool to check for voltage - what is my next step?
After having the rear axle seal replaced 3rd time, my 2004 Toyota makes a sound/noise behind the dash, drivers side, in the engine compartment. Noise is intermittent and only when braking. Hard to describe....electronic sound. Brake pedal feels like ABS system is kicking in. But no ABS light comes on. Mechanics all tell me, "when light comes on, bring it back". Had the brake system flushed today? Still makes the noise.

I thought it unusual to have the drivers side and passenger side window switches to fail at the same time - is there a common relay I should find and replace - I am looking for a common circuit that both switches might travel through to this window motor.

Now the light itself does work under normal running light conditions, but when I go to press the brake pedal it doesn't engage the bright brake light. Drivers side works fine and so do all my other lights, I replaced the bulb to no avail, and am now currently looking into replacing the bulb socket.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2002 Rav4, no key fob, just use a regular key. The driver's side door started to have unlocking issues and finally wouldn't unlock at all. The other two outside locks - passenger side and back door - were fine and were the only way I was getting into my car for a couple of weeks. Repair shop pulled the driver's side lock, pulled out the non-functioning tumbler, and had it replaced and re-keyed at a lock shop. Got the car back and driver's side door was working great, but that very day, I all-of-a-sudden couldn't unlock the passenger or the back door from the outside using the key (both will lock from the outside using the key). The shop (which I've been going to for a long time) thinks it is just a coincidence that both the other locks stopped working right after fixing the driver's side door, but that makes no sense to me. Is there anything in the driver's side door that could have been disturbed and is now preventing both the other doors from being unlocked from the outside? The repair shop solution is to just pull the other two locks and do the same thing as the driver's side door - pull any bad tumblers and re-key. I just cannot believe that this is a coincidence.

View 3 RepliesMy brake pedal is sticking down every time I push it in. I tried replacing the spring that was in there with a stronger one and sprayed the whole unit down with an all purpose silicon lubricant. It seemed to work a little but the problem is far from solved. It seems like it is sticking somewhere further away from the pedal. Master Cylinder maybe? I selected Tacoma because it's the closest option to my truck, but it's actually a 77 pickup/hilux.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2002, Toyota Tacoma, extended cab, V6, 4WD. I purchased this new back in CA, before moving to CO. When the weather turns cold, a noise begins to start. The noise appears primarily when I am decelerating (just taking my foot off the gas). The noise sounds like chains rattling. I would equate the noise to the sound a diesel pickup makes (low rumble). The noise sounds (to me) like its coming from behind the passenger's seat in the floor. The noise is quite loud (people walking on the street can hear it and its apparent something is not right with the truck). The only constant thing is that it must be cold out. So, when spring comes, I tend to forget about the issue. We are having snow this weekend in Denver and its starting again. I have taken this to multiple mechanics over the years. They tighten everything up, but cannot seem to find or fix the problem.

Brake lights still don't work. All running lights work as well as backup lights and turn signals. Just can't get the two drivers side lights to work.
View 4 RepliesMy passenger brake light (running) is out, I have the 5th brake light mod on and all 5 light up when i hit the brakes, its just dark when I am not on the brakes... Is it a fuse or the bulb blown, I've already rechecked the wiring and there was a wire loose but i put it back in and still nothing.
View 16 RepliesI own an '05 Prerunner with 56k miles. Had the front pads replaced and turned the rotors last Spring.
Now, after sitting for awhile, as I back up the front brakes squeal. (Sounds like a rock in a caliper its so loud.)
Toyota has a TSB to fix this.
My 09 Tacoma 91000 miles- symptom: when idling with foot on the brake, on occasion, experiences engine pause/subtle forward sensation; otherwise drives superb. Service shop said the issue is remedied by replacing the drive shaft thereby switching out the "yoke" which is the source of the problem. Shop said this is a common problem with 09 Tacomas. Does this need immediate repair or can I drive safely?
