Now that it's cold, my heater fan has been squeaking/humming when I first turn the car on. After it warms up a bit, it stops making noise. I assume the fan just needs to be lubed? The only thing that I've found that fixes the noise is turning the music up louder.
View 2 RepliesThis is kind of an odd ball problem since I have not encountered this before, but every time I turn my wheels full left or full right and start moving a really high pitched squeaking sound comes from the front of the car. Is it bad alignment or wear sensors on the brake pads rubbing? the brakes have a lot of pad left so i find that hard to believe.

View 4 RepliesMy wife's 2009 Camry has started making a humming noise from the passenger side when the heater is on. The higher the setting the louder the noise becomes. I took the car into the dealership and they checked it saying that it had "leaf's and debris" that had become stuck inside causing the noise. When I left the heater sounded fine. 2 days later the same issue, so I went back and they said that there must have been more leaf's and debris that the mechanic couldn't reach last time, but now it was clean. A few days later the same issue but I have not gone back to the dealership.
The car has approx. 22,000 miles on it, we don't live near many trees (some, but not many) and it is January right now so not many leaf's falling, and I purchased an additional warranty on the car for a few hundred extra and this is not covered. The dealership said that it is not covered in either warranty because it is not a vehicle issue but one caused by "mother nature" so...
Is this a common problem? Is this something that the "average do-it-yourselfer" can do? How do I know if the dealership is giving me the runaround? If I check this myself will it void my warranty, and where can I look to verify this?
When I turn on the heat or defroster I hear this humming noise coming from the front of my touareg, is this normal? I have a 04 v8....
View 5 RepliesThis is a first for me. Came in last night after my 140 mile commute and pulled into my garage and turned off my car ('16 IS350F). This morning(approx. 10 hrs.later) I went into the garage and heard a humming noise. I thought it was the refrigerator, but as I walked around the back of the car,it was obvious the noise was originating from the right rear. It sounded(to me) just like the fuel pump running,but that made no sense as it isn't on the "hot" battery bus...ie: it doesn't run until the accessory power is provided. I got in the car and cranked it....let it run for a couple of minutes and shut it down and the humming stopped.
View 5 RepliesNot sure if my 13' rx350 is haunted. Went in the garage (car had been sitting for hrs) and heard this pound humming. Checked everything in the garage and kneel down near driver side /passenger door and could hear the humming coming from under the car. Checked to see if the radiator fan was running ..nope. This has occurred on 2 occasions that I know as it seems to be random so I am concerned if I take it to dealer I'll get the "can't duplicate"...
View 6 RepliesI changed my cabin filter on my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan and now there is a humming noise when AC or Fan is turned on. The noise increases and decreases with fan speed. I tried putting the old cabin filter back in to see if the new one was loose or defective, but the humming noise was still there. I also made sure airflow arrow was pointing downward. Could it be that a leaf or something fell off of the filter and is now in the blower. How do I check the blower?
View 2 RepliesToday I went in may garage and heard a humming from the rear of my 2014 prius. I assume it is the hybrid battery. This was several hours after the car had been driven. I turned the car on and then off and the humming stopped. Is this normal? I know it is common for it to hum immediately after you turn the car off for a bit, but several hrs later?

View 2 RepliesToday I am getting a "squeaking rubber" sound coming inside the car from the steering wheel when its turned. Not from under the hood! We had a sudden temperature drop over night but this has never happened before. Car has over 180K on it. Power steering fluid is between the lines. I don't see any plastic that is rubbing.
View 2 RepliesI've got a 2004 Cavalier and when the heater is turned on it makes a clicking noise (sounds like someone on a snare drum playing over and over again) You can feel it if you touch the bottom of the Heater/AC module on the passenger side of the car above your feet. It stops when you turn the heater control to the recirculation position.
My guess is it's the recirculation door actuator motor, but I can't find it through NAPA or any automotive parts online sites, what the Chevy part number is for this, and/or a parts blowup of the HVAC module? Also, the factory service manual I've got says that the entire HVAC unit needs to be drained of 134 and removed from the vehicle to replace this actuator, does it can be done without removing the entire unit? From the few pictures it shows of where the actuator is, that part appears to be near the top (that's why I'd like to see a parts blowup if possible).
As soon as I turn heater on I smells coolant, I checked all over inside cabin there is no coolant liquid inside, I'm wondering if the heater itself is leaking or there is another problem.

I think the part is behind the glove box. Where is the best place to get the part and where is the best place to find how to do the install?
View 4 RepliesHonda Accord Special Edition - 72,000 mi.,4 cyl. auto - When I turn the control knob on to use fan or is it called the blower for A/C or heater nothing comes on. When I turn the control knob on with the cold motor not running and A/C button engaged (green light on) I hear the two fans under the hood come on for about 10 seconds and then shut off. Not sure if that is normal or it indicates something. I checked some of the fuses under the hood and under the dash. Could not find any that were bad.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2004 Subaru Forester, today when I turned on the heater fan I noticed that electrical (melting) smell, and the fan thus only ran very slowly on setting three and mostly okay on setting four, but not really at all on setting one or two. I found where the fan is located, but was wondering if it is the blower motor or the blower motor resister. I think on high, the blower motor by-passes the resister, and it seemed as though the smell really only occurred when I had the blower set on a lower setting. The resister is about $45 and the blower is about $145. If I can get by with only replacing the resister, that would be cool because I am assuming a new blower motor does not come with a new resister attached and I would have to buy that separately.

View 9 RepliesHave a 2004 Sport Trac with approx 78,000 miles. My daughter drives the vehicle around town. Approx. 2 weeks ago when she started it a loud squeal came from under the hood. I raised the hood and determined it was coming from the serpentine belt. I sprayed some lubricant on the belt and the sound went away, temporarily. I took the vehicle to a local mechanic. He thought the belt needed to be replace and did so. He showed me the old belt and commented that the old belt was in great shape and he could not determine where the sound came from. He also was able to spray lubricant on the belt and make the sound stop for a while. The squeal is definitely rpm related and also gets louder if the heater/ac fan is turned on. I have been reading alot on the internet about such problems with this vehicle and am getting really concerned. If it were the harmonic balancer would the vehicle still be operating this length of time since it started making the noise? What does replacing the harmonic balancer involve.
View 8 RepliesMy wife loves her Mercedes 1999 320CLK. Low mileage (120,000), excellent interior and body condition. One problem. When she turns on the heater there is a very high pitched whistle that gets loud and then slowly tapers off. This repeats from time to time. Randomly there is a sound like a flap/door slamming shut. All sound comes from behind the dash. Also, from the dash behind the steering wheel area you hear a sound kind of like someone squeezing a plastic water bottle - plastic crackling sound. Our mechanic took a look at this and told us that some sort of hose was loose. It was reconnected and things got better for a little while....now its back. Once in a while this happens with the AC.
