Celica :: Vehicle Stocked On 4th Gear

I was on 2nd gear driving and once road opened clear, I kind of pushed on it when I attempt to switch to 3rd, I missed and slapped it into 4th gear. I slowed down to attempt downshifting into 3rd, there wasn't any gear. I pulled over I noticed I could not go to neutral nor switch to any other gears. The car runs but only when clutch is pressed and once lifting up feet it dies.

Now its just stocked on 4th gear. This car was a swapped from a 5sfe GTS to 3sgte motor .

Celica :: 97 Vehicle Only Starts With Starting Fluid / Temp Gauge Moves With Throttle

I rebuilt the engine on my toyota celica. After putting everything back together there are a few bizarre symptoms I am hoping to get sorted out.

1) It only starts with starting fluid, but once it starts it will run continuously without dying.

2) The temperature gauge goes up relatively quickly, and also moves with the throttle. For example if it is as the 1/3 level and I apply throttle it will bump up. It continues to jump along with throttle play.

3) When I remove the coolant sender and/or sensor plugs, the gauge still reads the same (is this normal).

4) The fans don't turn on unless I remove the sender cable (the one with one wire and not two)

If I understand correctly the sensor with one wire is the sender and the sensor with two wires is the temp sensor. I am having a hell of a time determining the difference. The one with a single wire contact is plugged into the thermostate cover/pipe. The one with two wires is in the thermostat housing.

Did I fry the ECU somehow? What is going on?

Golf/GTI VI :: Vehicle Doesn't Want To Go From 1st Into Reverse

I've got a transmission question on my 2010 2.5 with the 5 speed manual.

First off, let's set the scene. I pull into a spot, pull up the ebrake and usually put the transmission in 1st or just leave it in second. Then I come back to my car several hours later, after it has cooled off, and I'd like to back out of the spot.

Now sometimes, after the car is cool, it doesn't want to go from 1st into reverse. There is some resistance and when I push slightly, I hear a quick clunk/grinding noise.

However, reverse engages just fine when the car is warm, no hesitation at all. I'm not sure what to think of it. One theory is that when the car sits the clutch loses hydraulic pressure and does not fully disengage once starting the car. Another is inadequate lubrication on the syncros when the tranny is cold.

I'm being very OCD about this, I'm use to driving early 90's Saabs with close to 200k so this wasn't expected with a new car. Perhaps I should double clutch. Shift to neutral, let out clutch and then push in and try reverse. Or just leave it in reverse when I exit. It's happened about 6-7 times in my first 2k miles.

I'm sure if I mentioned it to the dealer they wouldn't be able to replicate it and say I'm a PITA. And yes, the clutch it all the way to the floor and I do know how to drive stick.

Prius (2001-03) :: Reverse Lights Do Not Turn On When Put Vehicle In R - Location Of Relay?

I have an issue with my 2003 Prius. The reverse lights do not turn on when I put the vehicle in R. Checked the bulbs and they are fine. Checked all the relay (fuse) boxes and didn't find any burnt fuses.

I have a Haynes Manual and other than a circuit diagram, there is nothing that I could find about the location of the backup light relay. By the diagram I can tell that it is connected to a "HOT IN RUN or START" circuit and a 10 A fuse. Although it is useful for showing the wire routing, it doesn't tell me where it is!!

Celica :: Installing Headers On A 95 Toyota GT?

I would like to install headers on my 95 GT, but have never done this on any vehicle before. Is it just a matter of removing the old exhaust manifold, and reconnecting the new header? Any tricks, or surprises??? Also, any recommendations on brand, and or website to order from. I do not want to drop a lot of money, but do want to get at the very least a decent quality product. Also, can this be done without getting under the car? I can get under the front end for oil changes, etc., but do not have access to a lift at all.

I recently purchased a 1996 Celica. The car looks amazing and drives well. On top of it's reliability, the vehicle is an absolute blast to drive!!!!! However, it seems to be burning oil. I was told to switch from 5w-30 oil to 10w. A thicker weight would work.

Celica :: 2003 Toyota Stalls When Outside Temp Is 90 Or Above

2003 Toyota Celica GT-5 speed. I live in South Florida and last summer, when the temp got above 90 and the car was driven for about an hour and half, it would act as if it were out of gas. After pulling over and waiting for about and hour, the car would start up and run fine for about another hour, and then the same thing-stalled. I had fuel filter cleaned, injectors cleaned, did not work. Next mechanic- said the gas cap was bad, replaced it-3 times! Did not work. 3rd Mechanic- Replace coil packs. That was in September. The car ran fine. Drove it to Denver, Pennsylvania-twice and various other road trips. Ran like a champ. Thought, great, its fixed. Didn't think much about it again until two weeks ago.

Was driving to PA and the temp spiked 90 in Virginia and here we go again. 4th Mechanic- replaced the catalytic converter $1,000.00 Assured me 100% that was the problem. Picked it up earlier this week. Drove from Virginia to Jacksonville- 8 hours, no problem until it got hot out and again it began to sputter. I nursed it to the side of the road, sat until dark and drove it 6 hours home in the dark at 80 mph and no problem. It's only when it's hot out and I'm driving further than an hour. I just dropped it off at Mechanic 5. I don't want to replace more parts and continue to have the same problem. Codes read gas cap problem?!?!?

Celica :: 92 Toyota GT Cuts Off During Shift / Acceleration

I have a 92 Toyota GT...2 Door...2.2 liter engine...5 Speed ... It has just over 182,000 miles...ENGINE STRONG!

My Car has Been Cutting Off During Acceleration into 2nd Gear... At first I thought it was my battery post and the Grounded wire which was frayed, I replaced with New... problem persisted...I bought a new terminal for the Post...After Stopping and Going..

(When Car Cuts off...You can Crank it right up...No Problem...Began to accelerate and Cut off.. Start it...and go..Decide to Press Gas Down and ride the Clutch and Gas While Shifting and car Stays Cranked but I look like a Rookie Behind the Wheel and will Burn out My Clutch..So.. After I stopped and raised the Hood....I took the Negative Post Off...and Car Shut Off.. Bought a New Alternator...BAM...That's The Problem.. NOT!!..

4 Days later...Start out the parking lot...Car Cuts off..Same Problems All over again.. I took the Alternator to be checked..Fine..I took the Battery to be Checked and charged..Fine.. What Could Cause the Car To Cut Off after I hit 20 + Miles and Up..between Shifts....it Dies..? I need to Get to My New Job..and It's my only Means of Transportation...

Celica :: 1992 Toyota GTS Idle Goes From 0 - 500 RPM In Neutral

It's a 1992 Celica, GTS 2.2L for reference.

After driving down the highway I noticed my temp fluctuated from half way to full and bounced around until I arrived at the closest Canadian Tire/Station. I looked under the hood and noticed the stain on the coolant container wasn't the actual level of coolant. I then topped off the coolant and parked the car for about a week. When I tried to start her up, I was faced with a weak and poor idle. Almost as if the car is struggling to run. I have had times in the recent years in the summer months were I felt I had to pump the pedal on really hot days to kickstart her so she would run. Was this a warning sign? Other than this problem I face, the car runs smooth. I did a good tune up 2 years back, replacing the ignition coil, plugs, etc..

The idle goes from 0 - 500RPM in neutral and when I apply gas it struggles to gain power. The car is parked, I don't dare to take her around the block. It stutters and seems like she is struggling to get fuel. I say that because, when the key is turned to the on position I do not hear the fuel pump underneath the back seat activate. I did try jumping the terminals, something like B+ and FP.... The pump turned on and I heard fuel but when I started the car, I still had the same problem. I would need to pump gas or she would stall out. I do not know where the fuel line is to try and check the pressure or even where the relay is located.

Could it be the Fuel Pump?
Could it be the Fuel Pump Relay?
Something Else?

My guess is the Fuel Pump, but if you could take a few mins and replay that would be great. I have had my Celica for about 7 years and I would like to keep her going!
