View 1 RepliesMy 2006 Prius (Model NHW20) has a strange headlight problem. On the passenger side, the high beam light is out but the regular headlight works.
On the driver side, the high beam is working but the regular headlight is out.
I don't think it's the fuses but I'm not sure. No amount of interchanging the following fuses changes anything about the issue:
1. 10A H-LP HI RH
2. 10A H-LP HI LH
3. 15A H-LP LO RH
4. 15A H-LP LO LH
I have a 2006 Prius that I purchased with no upgrade on the headlights. There was an upgrade available for high intensity lights, but, I didn't get them. The low beam on the passenger side headlight just stopped working. Two questions:
1. I was just told by the Toyota dealership that to replace the headlight, the entire front end of the car would need to be dropped. They just told me that with them supplying the bulbs, the cost would be about $250 plus tax. If I supply the bulbs, only about $200 plus tax. My owners manual indicates that this is a do-it-yourself project. Is this true or is the dealership trying to make money off of me?
2. When I do replace the lights, I would like to put in something that would put out more light than what I have now. I have been told to be careful because many replacement lights throw off so much heat that the housing around the bulb could melt. Also, I have read that some of these replacement bulbs have a very short working lifetime of 1-2 years. Obviously, I would want to keep away from them.
I just replaced (or almost replaced) the bulb on the passenger side of my 2008 prius. It is a HID bulb. I got the old one out, the new one in and connected and verified it is working. Now trying to get the cover back on that provides the weather proofing and unless im wrong... the braided wire that connects to the back of the bulb is in the way. It looks like it has to go thru the opening that the cover is supposed to seal... Imagine a rope hanging over the edge of a bucket you are trying to put a cover on... Am i wrong here? did I miss something?
View 1 RepliesI need to replace the low beam headlight on the drivers side. Any quick way to do this, and how much and what type is the bulb?
View 3 RepliesMy passenger side headlight(low beam) isn't turning on. Replaced the bulb. The light flickers and dies out.
View 1 RepliesI am having an issue with the passenger side low beam headlight on a stock 02 Passat. Bulb is fine but after testing confirmed no juice to that side. Drivers side works fine as do the running lights on both sides. Fuse is fine and after an afternoon of looking at it I am about ready to beat my head up against the wall. Only other clue is the cig lighter went out about (not sure if the exact) same time.
View 2 RepliesI know that headlight lamps burning out is a common problem with the Passat. My passenger side low beam lamp will be replaced for the 4th time today! Checking my records I replaced this same lamp on my 2002 Passat in 6/04, 12/05, 2/08, and now 12/08. The driver's side lamp was only replaced once in 2/06.
Fortunately it is an easy job and I am always careful not to touch the lamp glass with my fingers. I am wondering why the passenger side would burn out much more often than the driver's side? Is there a better brand lamp to buy than the Sylvania Silverstar that I have been using??
My friend with a 2007 SC430 is having a recurring problem with his passenger's side headlight. The HID low beam keeps periodically going out, then will start working again. When it isn't lighting up, it's doesn't work on either the low beam or the high beam settings, while the driver's side lamp is working fine (driver's side low beam lamp is on with high beam lamp when high beams are engaged, and driver's side lowbeam lamp on as normal with low beam engaged).
He has replaced the passenger's side bulb with a Lexus OEM purchased from a dealer back in November which seemed to fix things for a while but now the problem is back again.
What the cause(s) could be and how to troubleshoot? He previously owned a 2002 SC430 for 6 years and never once had any headlight issues or even had to replace any bulbs, and the 07 is giving him this grief now after barely 3 years of owning it.
I have a 2006 elantra. I just got it back from having a new clutch put in. My passenger side headlight, low beam, no longer works. I tried two different new bulbs and it still doesn't work. All the other lights on the car are working, including the high beam and running light on the passenger side. Is there something that would have been disconnected when they replaced the clutch? Is there something I should check?
View 1 RepliesLately I noticed that my headlight beams are crossed between passenger and driver side....
When I start up the car, the headlights move down and up for the initializing... all seems fine... While I backing my car out of the garage, I notice that my light beam start to drift closer to each other as I back out further and then finally crossed... the beam from my passenger headlight ended up on the driver side.... and the beam from my driver headlight ended up on the passenger side.
My AFS lamps are working and initializing when the car turn on.
I have an 07 Passat Wagon. The headlight malfunction indicator light came on for my passenger side low beam. I replaced the bulb, which was visibly burn out (broken filament), but with a new bulb in, the light still is not working and the malfunction indicator is still on. What is the cause of this? I have the regular headlamps, not the xenon lights.
View 2 RepliesI just had my pass side head lite burn out.....or at least I thought? I replaced the bulb twice......not touching either 1 with my fingures.......and I have no low beam on that side? Only hi beam on the pass side? All my fuses are good, and I even unhooked all my plow harness.
View 4 RepliesThe passenger side low beam failure alarm come on about 20 seconds after starting the car. It goes out after about 10 seconds; then alarms again after 10 more seconds; it goes out and then finally alarms after another 10 seconds and stays alarmed until the car is turned off.
Looking at the light from the front of the car, it goes on and off as described above. However when it is on the light is very bright. This suggests to me a loose connection or maybe a a loose fuse. That is, unless this is the way those bulbs go out. It seems strange because the bulbs in my other cars did not behave like this. They were either out or not, never in between.
The only thing that has been done to this car was that the tires were balanced about five days ago. The VW place did not do a good job at balancing the tires when they rotated them. What is going on in my car?
Any tips for replacing the passenger side high beam? I can get my hand in there by there is no way to turn the bulb. Any easy tool to grip and turn the bulb?
View 5 RepliesSo I had an issue with my hid lights, I replaced one ballast and 2 new bulbs and they work fine now but the passenger side is stuck on high beam. When i turn on the brights only the driver side gets brighter, how to fix this? I only replaced the driver side ballast
View 3 RepliesI am in need of replacing the passenger side Front Headlight assembly. I was wondering, how to assemble it outside of a repair shop. I was also looking to possibly get the part number so I can make sure I am purchasing the correct product for my 2012 VW Passat SE.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2004 Phaeton and the passenger side headlight cover spring is missing or broken. What is the part number or have diagram of part?
View 5 RepliesMy driver side lower beam (projector) will go out after a couple minutes when its turned on. If I flip the switch to off and then on, it turns back on again. Is this a sign of it going out? I am assuming i have the HID version.
View 9 Replieshow to replace the front Highlight.
how to replace my head light, on the passenger side.
I am planning to replace the headlight (high beam) light of my 2006 Toyota Camry. The original OEM light lasted for nearly 6/7 years.
I noticed in some forum that "Sylvania 9005SU SilverStar Ultra High Performance Headlight Bulbs" is good, but it has short life of less than 1 year.
