I am trying to find out which fuse is linked to the back door motor because the window works but the back door does not click, move or open. There is a motor on it that usually pulls it fully closed and none of it is responding.

View 2 RepliesMy 97 toyota 4-runner has now had three times with a loss of power making me unable to drive the car. The first time behaved differently than the last two times. Currently, I can't drive the car.
The first time, I had just filled up the gas tank (while the station underground tank was being filled). About 10-15 minutes later while on the interstate, I had a sudden loss of power and the vehicle eventually would not move forward at all. The idle was fine. I had it towed to my mechanic thinking I had gotten a back tank of gas. I believe the check engine light was on... he determined that it was a bad mass air flow sensor and replaced that. He said the filling of the tank was co-incidental.
Months later (Jan. 2015), during our first cold spell, I had driven the car, parked it overnight in temperatures of 9 degrees. The next morning it didn't want to start. I finally got it to idle to warm up in neutral, but then when I would give it gas to move it, it would stall. I finally got it to stay on and to move with barely enough power to drive it the mile to the mechanics. On the way it started "back-firing" under the hood and smelling progressively hotter although the engine heat light was normal. By the time I got it to the mechanic going about 5-10 mph, I thought it was going to catch fire, it smelled so bad. Check engine light never came on. The car sat there unmoved for two weeks while I was out of town. After the two weeks, the mechanic finally checked out the car (outside temp was now up in the 30's & 40's) he got it to start and drive, but it was "running rough". He cleaned up the connections on the coil, which had some corrosion and gave me back the car -- no charge.
It ran fine until yesterday, when the same scenario played out. Another cold snap (-4 degrees). Drove the car across town to do errands and fill the gas tank. parked it overnight. The next morning I couldn't get to start initially. Finally got it to idle. Warmed it up for 30 minutes but it would not stay running if I took it out of neutral and gave it any gas. Check engine light did not come on. This time the car is 30 miles away from my mechanic and I don't want to have it towed if I don't have to....
My mechanic thinks it's either a fuel or oxygen issue. He told me to have someone bang on the bottom of the fuel tanks while I try to start it to see if that effects anything.
Recently the hatch on our 98 Toyota 4Runner wouldn't "click" closed- my husband had to secure it w/ a rope for the ride home. Took it to the dealer the next day where they "degunked" it. Now it latches, but the open door/hatch indicator dash light is constantly on - the repair tech said he didn't know why or what to do about it! My concern is that the battery is being drained.
View 5 RepliesI have Toyota 4runner 1996 4 cylinder. it was running good (from time to time I would lose power for 2 to 10 second than it go back to normal acceleration). I had the check engine light on for almost 8 month. last week I took the car to mechanic shop for diagnosis. the mechanic changed the spark plugs and after that the engine lost power. the car cannot go over 30 or 35 mile per hour. He changed the spark plugs and put different ones, same thing he put the old ones back same problem, he changed the wires, the fuel filter, air filter, the distributor and rotor, but still the same problem. the problem is that the check engine light is off now and there no codes.

View 12 RepliesI was told that fixing the reverse gear can be done without dropping the transmission. Is there anywhere I can see a video of this? My shifter locked up out of nowhere and when I got it back loose it started clicking in reverse only when I back up.
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to open the back door while the car is in ready? I don't thing there's a trunk release or the equivalent & touching the handle on the back doesn't work until I turn the car off.
Obviously, this is a good safety feature, but I'm wondering if there's a way to open the trunk without turning the engine off since 6 months of the year I keep the heater running in the morning as we're getting ready to leave the house (-14C or 0F forecast tonight, or what we call "spring weather").
Back door my 2007 prius Wont open I've opened it with the manual latch from the inside underneath in the luggage compartment and reset the power locks but it doesn't make any difference I still can't open the door from the outside.

View 4 RepliesSo two or so months ago, I had the battery replaced in my 1999 Saturn SL2. About two weeks ago, something strange began happening, but only in the morning when I went to leave the house for work. I get in the car, turn the key in the ignition, and the car won't start--the clock and dash lights will come on for a split second, then go off. I'll try again, and this time the clock won't come on, the dome light won't come on--it's as if the battery is completely dead.
Here's the strange part: when I open and shut my car door, THEN the clock and dome light come back on. Same thing with my keyless entry: after I try to start the car and it won't start, keyless entry doesn't work. Then, I open and close the door and the keyless entry suddenly works again. So generally I have to go through this process of turning the key in the ignition and opening and closing the door for about 5 minutes. Then, the car will start as if nothing happened and it will be fine for the rest of the day.
No matter how many places I travel, how many times I stop somewhere and turn the car off, it always starts when I come back. It's only in the morning that it does this. Occasionally, I've been able to go 2 or 3 days without a problem (i.e., it WILL start in the morning). Today, though, it took a good 10 minutes to start, and I'm worried some day soon here it's just not going to start at all.
When you pull the handle on the door it doesn't latch on to anything to open the door, whats wrong?

View 1 RepliesI rarely drive with anyone else in my 2004 Prius. This week we've had out-of-town guests, with two people in the back seat. When the doors are locked, the front seat passenger can pull on the handle to open the door, but the back seat passengers can't open their doors with the handle until someone in one of the front seats pushes the door unlock button. The child safety locks are not set. I keep getting out of my car and forgetting to push the button to let the back seat passengers open their doors. Is there anything I can do to change this rear door behavior?
View 2 Repliesso whenever i unlock my car with the remote on the key, i can open the door. while the door is still open it will lock back, turning the alarm on as well. would that have anything to do with the key? or some other problem?
View 13 RepliesThe wife and I bought a 2014 Santa Fe 2.4 FWD back in August and so far we are pretty happy with it. A few issues have come up in the first couple months of ownership.
1) The dreaded squeak from the rear passenger side started a couple months ago. I’m going to try the easy fixes first (adjusting the tailgate stops, etc) then take it to the dealership if that doesn't work. I hope they don’t have to do the spot weld fix but if that’s what it is, oh well.
2) Another issue that just came up as of recently is that it’s leaking coolant out of some strange fitting on the front o
My driver side back suicide door won't open. It is the top latch that is not disengaging. I think I heard something loose in that door over the past month. Am I going to have to take off the inside panel to fix it?
View 14 RepliesJust bought a great 2011 Venza with 75000 Texan highway miles. Now that the car is home, I've discovered that:
-- both of the remote fobs will lock and unlock the car doors,-- but neither of the two keys will lock or unlock the driver's door (the only one with a key slot, you know).
The key turns freely to right and left, with a slight, normal-feeling resistance. But nothing happens. No doors lock or unlock.
I've tried graphite in the key slot and working the key in and out. No luck.
So it seems 1) the keys are fine, as they start the car when put into the ignition.
And 2) the locks themselves also seem to be fine: both remotes lock and unlock the doors.
But 3) the driver's door can't be locked or unlocked using the key.
What worries me is that the car battery will die and I won't be able to unlock the car door in order to pop the hood open.
My passenger and back door windows won't open with the use of their switches. I can open all three with the master control. I thought the master switch was bad and replaced it. The problem persists. Are these individual switches for the passenger and back doors in series, where one goes out and none work ?
