My dashlights (Speedometer, Tach) always remain lit on my 2006 Grand Vitara. Dealer could not find problem. Suggested new dash. Only way to darken dash is to disconnect battery. Car has 10,0000 miles.

Trying to find solution, so the electronics need to be checked out, could it a be a fuse or something?
the flickering stopped after 10 mins and hasnt come back. is this an alternator problem or loose battery cables/ground strap?

View 30 RepliesI have a 2004 Grand Am (6 cylinder 3.4L). There are 177K miles. Last week, after I started my car (with no problem), the radio and dash gauges took about 3-5 seconds before coming on. Hadn't happened again since then until yesterday.
First it took 3 seconds, the next time 5 and progressively longer. The last time I started my car it took about 20-30 seconds until everything came on. I was already driving at that point. Interestingly, if I put the key in the ignition and turn it half way - the radio and dash lights pop on right away with no delay (every time). It's just after I turn the car on that the delay happens.
I'm going to get my alternator and battery tested tomorrow at an Auto Parts store. I can't remember how old my battery is (I have it documented somewhere but haven't had the chance to investigate). The only interior electrical thing I can think of is my dome light doesn't turn on when the car doors open. I have gotten it to work occasionally by just jiggling the switch, but can't get it to come on automatically.
I have a 2007 RX400h. All of a sudden I see the airbag light on the dash and the passenger airbag off light always lit. It does not matter whether I am sitting in the passenger seat or not. I should easily weigh enough to turn on the passenger air bag.
I have a basic OBDII scan tool. It does not show any error codes.
I just got this used sc430 I always wanted one but never got the chance to though, the car I got is American spec and I Hove few problems with it.
1- fog lights are always on
2- my mileage gage does not work but the rim is working effectively
3- ABS light always on
4- brake lights always on
5- Air bag lights always on
6- side rear viewing mirrors control not working
7- windows auto option is not working, other wise I can use them normal.
Note I took the car to garage and once connected to the computer, the computer was not able to connect as per as the mechanic if it makes any sense.
I love my car unfortunately I don't know much.
The auto delay feature has begun to fail. Sometimes the parking lights stay on for at least an hour. Sometimes they stay on even after pressing the remote lock 2x and hear the chirp. So far have caught this prior to dead battery situation.

What is happening:1) starting the car all instrumental dash lights stayed on and only very slowly cleared. This happened all the time I started the car.2) All red lights (brake, battery, and all doors open) start turning on together quite often.3) And I see a dropping in 'power' voltage. Like my headlights are getting darker. The headlights are also buring out quite often,
I went toan AAA mechanic and they checked the car and found nothing. And he said he did nothing.Since then all instrument dash lights turn off at normal speed.But all the red lights still light regularly. But less than before.This (the red lights lighting) happens more often if A/C in on. Less if the only fan is on. And even less while driving - usually when slowing down.
Any mod that will allow the fog lights to remain on when the high beams get turned on?
View 40 RepliesI have a blizzard plow and had a shorted wire which blew the plow marker lights to pieces. Fixed short but truck parking lights still stay on. Only way to turn them off is removing the fuse. I have checked light relays by fuse panel and under the hood.

View 4 Replies2007 Suzuki XL7 luxury 6 cyl 3.6l - Error code reads p0122 and the computer in the dash reads Engine Hot- A/C off. It turned over earlier but Car wont start now. Battery is new, all fluid levels, fuses ok. So... looking for
1) PART NUMBER to search for to replace the TPS? or
2) SIMPLE STEP BY STEP instruction on how to ADJUST it?
I have a 2005 Suzuki Aerio with an automatic transmission. Occasionally, maybe once every month or two, the check engine light will come on while I am driving and the car will immediately stop down-shifting from 3rd gear. The car otherwise seems to run fine but I end up having to manually shift to get to wherever I am going. Then on my next trip, the transmission will shift fine but the check engine light will stay on for an additional trip or two and then go off. What is going on. By the time I get to it the light is off again and the car seems to function fine.
View 4 RepliesMy 2005 Grand Caravan has a leak in the A/C under the dash. The mechanics say they will need to tear out the dash to get to it and it will cost $1000. As this car needs a couple of more things and I just repaired the battery and alternator, I don't want to put this money into it. Will anything seize up if I just let it go? It's August and summer will be over soon. Can I just deal with it or will this cause further problems?
View 1 RepliesMy grand prix is getting terrible mileage but runs great. Where should I begin checking. There is no codes or lights. It runs good but only gets 18-19 mpg on the hwy. I traded my wifes 97 Bonneville for this car and that big old bonnie got about 26 on the hwy with the same engine. I just assumed the gp would do at the very least the same. What do you guys get with the 98's? I don't know where to start but if it don't get better than that, I'm trading it back for a Bonneville. It has 113k on it. I have put a new Air Filter in it and Thermostat. It seems like it does not heat up very much but I guess it is ok. I put the new Thermostat in and it heats up the same. About 1/4 way up the gauge. I guess like 160-170?

I read other threads about the connections under the hood, both sides, which I unplugged and replugged. I also pulled the IOD fuse for a little bit. Then I removed the cluster and looked it over. Looked good to me.
Got code P1698 for manufacturers assembly control or something to that effect. Thought I checked all the usual culprits. The dash lights work fine, so does everything else. The dash gauges just don't work. This is something that has been an intermittent problem with the dash gauges going out periodically when hitting a bump. It leads me to believe a connection. But I checked all those.
My 2006 Prius wouldn't start yesterday. The dash lights blinked on & off and the fob was locked in the dash. About 5 mins. later it came out. I was able to jump start the car with no prob. I drove to the dlr. & they checked the bat. & charging system. They found no problems, but said I might want to R & R the bat. as it's 5 yrs. I want to stick with the stock bat. Aalso stated that the bat. was fully charged & when I went home I plugged in my battery tender. The car was wired for the tender already although I haven't had the need to use it until now.
View 6 RepliesThis has happened to me twice now, 2 weeks between occurrences:
Driving to work, about 10 minutes into the trip - traction control light comes on, "Reduced engine power" message appears on DIC, and check engine light comes on.
The car is an '08 Prix, no charger, with 51K on it. This is actually the first trouble I've had with the car since it left the dealer lot.
I pull over, turn car off. Turn back on - traction light goes out, and engine is running at full power. The check engine light remains on for about 5 starts/stops then goes away.
I haven't had the engine scanned yet. The only thread here I could find recommended replacing the throttle body. The person decided to clean the throttle body, and that was the last post.
I was thinking of removing the individual electronic components from the TB and cleaning them and the area around them in the TB. (I have the sensor-safe cleaner for TB's).
I don't think this error condition would be a warranty issue, but I'm not sure. It's a MAJOR hassle for me to get the car to the dealer.
I had the service vehicle soon light come on the other day and it took out the gauge back lights, fog lights, and tail lights. Also, when I used to lock and unlock the car with the remote the exterior lights would flash, now they don't. I check all headlights and tail lights and none of them are burnt out.
View 11 RepliesShortly after I bought my "99 Expedition, the 4x4 light on the dash began flashing. The vehicle is in standard all wheel drive, and had not recently been in 4 wheel. Now, it will go into 4 wheel, light stays steady, the 4 wheel drive is working, but when I disengage it, the light returns flashing when in all wheel drive. In other words, the 4x4 light flashes when in all wheel drive, the light stays on when in 4 wheel drive. I don't think the light should be on unless the 4 wheel drive is on. What do you think could be wrong with the soccer wagon?
