I have a rattle from the rear driver's side, a vibration from the passenger-side dashboard and a squeak in or near the front passenger seat. I feel like I'm losing my mind!
I only saw two links in the entire forum for rattles that are occuring from the front speakers. I seem to get some rattles from the left of the driver side by the foot well or somewhere around the vent area there...it is hard to tell where its coming from but it occurs whenever the car goes over some bumps.
I also noticed some squeaking by the wood area on left rear door...again i cant seem to place my finger on where exactly its coming from but is there a chance that something is loose in between the doors thats causing this? or could it be that the cold is just causing the wood to contract thus causing for these problems?
I have been experiencing some unwanted noises coming from the rear of my SF. I finally had the opportunity to ride in the back seat while someone else drove. I was able to determine that one rattle/squeak was coming from the styrofoam pieces in the storage area. I pushed the entire set as far to the rear as possible. Even though they only moved a fraction of an inch, the noise stopped.
Another noise is coming from the seat backs. Specifically, the seams where each seat back touches each other. They create a squeeking noise as the seat backs vibrate. I can make it stop by folding the middle section down, and therefore it doesn't touch the seat back on either side. I'd like to not have that be my solution though. I'm thinking some lubrication, such as silicon spray, on the surfaces that touch each other would stop it. I have no clue what silicone spray would do to leather in the long term though.
My Treg is in the shop at the moment to have some squeaks and rattles looked at - and I was expecting to get it back on Monday this week. However, was told on Tuesday by the garage that the engineers had discovered that the rear handbrake shoes had completely disintegrated and that they needed to replace them. Now
a) I don't make a habit of driving around with the handbrake on, and
b) my car has only done 6,000 miles
So what's going on? To cap it all, the parts are on back-order from Germany. Which means it will likely be two weeks before I get my car back. This is starting to get on my nerves. It feels like my Treg is in the garage more than out of it and I'm beginning to regret my purchase.
I am having problems with squeaks and other noises from the dash. The dealer sprayed some foam on the dash board (underside of it) to quiet the noises. It didn't work. The repair order says he sprayed the air bag cover. I'm not an expert on air bags but would this effect the function of the bag?
View 7 RepliesThe hatch rattle has been driving me nuts. I'd heard that the bumpers on either side of the hatch could be adjusted to fix this problem. I couldn't find a good howto on this, so I snapped a few pics.
Basically, if you adjust these bumpers so that they apply slight tension on the hatch when closed, it appears to stop the rattles that happen over low speed bumps. It's been a couple days, some pretty bumpy roads, and no rattles since the weekend. [IMG] [URL] ......
Tools Required
- One 3mm hex driver
- Two hands (one would probably do)
1) Open the rear hatch and note the bumpers on either side:
2) Note the 3mm socket in the center of each bumper, deep inside:
3) Insert 3mm hex driver into the socket, loosen (but do not remove) the screw:
4) Wiggle the bumper out -- I moved mine out about 0.5" or so. Retighten screw.
5) Close the hatch to test fit. The rubber bumper should be SLIGHTLY compressed against the stopper, but not mashed up against it:
6) Go take a drive. Tell the wife/husband/other that you need to test for rattles. Spend a few hours driving fast, just to be super sure.
2010 Lexus Rx450h... Rattles in the morning, only when really cold. (Around freezing?). Somewhere in or near the passenger side door, or the air vent by that door. It gets quiet(er) after warmup. Car has been at the dealer for a week... They can't find it; they want to pack in additional insulation. That hardly sounds like a sound solution.

View 2 RepliesI suspect that the 2006 Yaris rear hatch cylinder would work on my 2004 echo, so I got it from a u-pull. However it seems to be a bit gummed up with something, and I want to take it apart (far enough to rekey, basically).
I've got the spring clip off the back, and took out the back plate with the coil spring. I've cleaned up the metal cylinder and removed the spring at the back, but I don't know how to take the whole thing apart to clean the insides.
Is it normal to experience a distinct clunking noise when downshifting into first gear? My dealer indicates this is normal but I don't want to risk damage to the tranny if it is not normal.
View 3 RepliesThe squeal is loud almost every time I brake early in the a.m. usually.I've taken it in to the Dealership - but by the time I got there at 9-10 am - the sound stopped. They did not have any explanation or answer to stop this.

View 5 RepliesThe bolts or screws on the inside front of the doors may need to be retightened. Mine have loosened over time. Just wondering if this maybe a possible cause of rattles or squeaks in the doors others here have experienced. My door shell appeared to be sticking out a bit and it could be pressed in, so I fished around for a cause and fixed it.

View 20 RepliesI have a '99 Passat 4 door sedan, 1.8t and have started to notice some serious groans and squeaks in the front end. I can get it to squeak in the garage just by pushing up and down on the front end, and by turning the wheel while stationary.
The car's 10 years old and I expect some back talk but, I'm wondering what I can lube on the front end. I took a look last weekend and the cv boots are fine, there's nothing leaking out of the car and no real ugly surprises under the hood.
My cursory peek inside the wheel wells didn't turn up any grease fittings, although I'm guessing there have to be a few. I can, almost fondly, remember all the zirc fittings on my '67 beetle and am wondering if there are any easy solutions to my squeaking/groaning problem.
we have a 2002 and 2003 trailblazer.
both of the trucks have a 'squeak' in the front end when traveling over a bumpy road.. any fixes.
I recently noticed that I start hearing some tiny squeaks coming from the suspension somewhere when I get on or off the car, or rock the car from the inside. I have a 2011 with 70k miles, always been a CA car.
View 4 RepliesJust noticed my car squeaks at very low speeds when i press on the brake and then also when it is stopped as I rock it back in forth (engine on or off). Sound is definitely coming from the front end.
View 1 RepliesI just started getting a squeaking noise when driving over bumps. It sounds like it is coming from the back seat area. I have search and cant find anything..
