Saturn - Sl :: Windshield Wipers On While Turning?
Apr 3, 2011
While driving, the windshield wipers on my 2000 Saturn sometimes come on without me turning them on and they continue to operate for several minutes after being turned off. What is causing this and is it an easy fix?

I just bought a used 2004 Touareg. I think I got a great deal.
I have noticed the noisy windshield wipers, the condensation on the windshield, minor binding problems when turning, and some hesitation/jumpiness in the throttle. I talked to a dealer today and they said if I had a list of things to fix, they could do it in a day.

Got in the car this morning and my headlights, windshield wipers, and turn signals would all not turn on or work.
I'm not sure if the this is a problem with the stalks on the steering column or possibly a relay.
When i pull the left stalk my high beams will come on but only when i do that.
The windshield wipers would not turn on at all and the windshield wash would not even spray as well.
I also noticed that my AC/Heat controls wouldnt respond either. Any clue as to what it might be.

Wipers will not turn off unless the car is turned off?

My windshield wipers stick to the windshield. It's like turning them on full speed when dry. They drag like hell even in Monsoon like conditions...
What gives? Faulty wipers? Bad arm position?

windshield wipers stopped working after driving through a large puddle.

I had a new windshield installed today. After the install was completed, I checked the wipers, and they no longer work. I called the installers, they came back and took the arms off and put them back on. All wires appear connected, though I have not checked voltage. I have no rain sensor. The rear wiper still works. It's an oem windshield...

This is on a 2006 GS3. I don't know if this is how it's always been, but after I picked up the car from service at the lex dealer yesterday i especially noticed that the windshield wipers don't go all the way down when they are off or at the "bottom" of the wipe motion. especially the one on the passenger side - when the wipers are idle it's sitting maybe 3" above its base if you understand what i am trying to say. Is this normal? or is it just now i am noticing this. it's not really in the way to impede my vision but i just find it odd.

Started the car up this morning, went to turn on the windshield wipers to remove dirt from the window and they did not turn on. What possibly could be the issue?

I have a 2001 Saturn L200, in great condition—other than that the wipers are in the upright position, like goalposts. They work fine, turn on and off perfectly, but they always return to the "up" position on the windshield. As far as I can tell the rest of the electronics (i.e., lights, signals, etc) still work fine. A couple months ago the wiper blades started to slowly inch their way up, stopping at increasingly higher positions until they finally stopped where they're at now. A mechanic I talked to said that the wiper switch is burnt out and it would require ripping out the dash to replace the wiper motor, while a friend of mine thinks resetting the switch is all that's needed.

I failed my vehicle inspection today because I have scratches left over from some old windshield wipers on the driver's side. I didn't own the car when this happened. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new windshield, and the scratches aren't that deep at all (I ran my finger over the entirety of the scratch and barely felt it). I'm scared to go to any windshield repair shops because I feel like they'll lie and tell me the only choice is to replace my windshield (which I can't afford). I attached some pictures. I was thinking maybe a buffer or some type of gel?

Last week I tried to use my wipers and it seemed like they were stuck, I turned them off, it wasn't that bad but since then I tried to use them even when it was a lot warmer and could not have been frozen and they don't move at all now. What steps should I take to check all the ins and outs?

What is the size I would need to pursue this?

My front windshield wipers seem to have gone kaput. I went to clean the windshield yesterday, and while the fluid shot out freely, the wipers didn't move. I tried intermittent, frequent, etc, and nothing got them to move. The back wiper works fine. I restarted the car, checked to make sure that nothing was blocking movement, and still no movement.
Which fuse controls the wipers? Before I head to the dealer (it's been 5 weeks since my last visit), I'd like to see if a blown fuse is the cause of the problem.

Windshield wipers don't work at all. Not even a little bit.
I first had a problem in the summer. The wipers stopped working for a day or two and then started working fine again. Now, they don't work at all. The fuse is fine (and was replaced even though it was fine). It isn't the switch as that has been replaced. It isn't the motor/wiper arms as that has been replaced. I don't see any damaged wires or anything.
I am hoping I am missing something really simple.

Here in the midwest and this is probably true in the east coast areas as well, we are having some pretty intense winter weather. I have been having trouble with my wipers when driving in heavy snowfall or freezing rain. Ice builds up on the blades and arms so badly that they just smear the windshield. I have to pull over, get out and bust the ice off. It also builds up in the well below the windshield.

My windshield wipers do not park all the way down. The left one is up at a 5 degree incline, the right one more like 15 or 20 degrees. I went through a car wash today, and the air dryer blew them all the way to the left, and back to the right a little. I turned them on and back off, and they returned to the original position (5 and 15 degrees). Car is 2002 Grand Marquis LS.

I have had lots of work done trying to fix this dangerous problem of the wipers malfunctioning or not working at all. No one can figure out why the wipers work perfectly whenever I get to the shop..but sometimes quit or won't start or work at the wrong speed when I need them, in the rain. I have had the multifunction switch replaced, the error codes shown nothing wrong..they want to replace the body control module, plus programming etc... but won't guarantee it will work.
I am thinking of having an "override switch" installed that goes directly to the wiper motor, so I can turn them on whenever they quit functioning normally. I am worried that unless the existing wiring that goes to the control module...is unattached, when the over ride switch is used...that it could send a stray voltage back to the module and disrupt or damage it... Maybe I should trade the truck off...but it only has 50K miles and runs beautifully and rides even better, plus I really like it. Dodge - 1500 - SLT ....

This may sound strange but when it's been cold my windshield wipers have been moving more slowly than normal. is this a sign of the motor needing replacement or is this normal?
