I had my power steering motor and ignition replaced according to the Saturn recall 2 months ago. Went out yesterday and the PWR STR warning light was on, unable to move steering wheel. Turned the car off and waited a few minutes and turned the car back on and the power steering was fine. Since I just had the motor replaced do you think it is just a fuse? Or should I call the dealer?
View 2 RepliesDoes the 'easy entry' function on your Phaeton only cause the steering wheel to move up and down, or, does it cause the steering wheel to move up and down and the driver seat to slide back and forward? My understanding is that both actions should take place - wheel up and seat back (or vice-versa), but I can only ever recall seeing the steering wheel of my car move up.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2003 Saturn Vue, been a pretty car, bought used. It has been making this obnoxious moaning sound when I turn the steering wheel. Had one mechanic say he thought it was some bearings? But I would have to bring back (was having something else fixed at the time). I am financially challenged at the moment, and I am concerned this is going to be costly. The sound doesn't seem to be affecting the mechanics of the car, it is just annoying.

View 11 RepliesI have a Jeep Liberty 2002 Sports. When it is cold and the car has been sitting for a while, when I start the car, the steering wheel is locked or hard to move. I have not tried to force it. But it will move if I rev the engine to a certain point. Once I rev the engine I can move the steering wheel again. I have left the car to warm up before revving the engine, but this does not work with the steering, I have to rev the engine in order to "unlocked" the wheel.

View 1 RepliesMy daughter's 2002 Saturn L-200 emits a puff of smoke from the steering wheel area near the wiper switch only when she starts the car, which only lasts a few seconds then is gone. No one has ever heard of this happening, but a mechanic replaced the wiper switch. The problem was gone for about 3 weeks, and now is happening again intermittently. What is causing this?

View 9 RepliesMy 2005 RX330 has 140,000 kms...and I am now witnessing frequent periods of hard steering. I even sometimes find that after I turn a corner, the steering wheel doesn't return back to straight as I move through the turn - I have to forcefully return the steering back to straight steering. There is plenty of power steering fluid, and there are no abnormal whining noises from the power steering assembly. And since the ease of power steering does still work...I suspect that a ball joint needs looked at.

Started car up and there is a shrieking loud noise. the car worked fine when i drove it yesterday. the steering wheel will not move. i looked under the hood and the steering wheel fluid is completely drained. do i just need fluid? what is the shrieking noise?? It's sunday so i'm unable to contact dealership or get the fluid that i was told i can only buy from dealership.
View 1 RepliesMy car was running fine. I drove it 2-3 miles city & freeway a week ago to make sure. I was going to lend it to a friend and handed him the keys at a different location. When I got home he showed me that he was unable to move the car out of Park. I got in and the motor started fine. I checked and the battery was showing at the normal level,but I too could not budge the car out of Park. That was a few days ago.
Today I went out to start the car up and to my surprise, the battery is completely drained. The battery is only about 17 months old. I previously had had the motor rebuilt a couple of years ago and the car hasn't been driven but 2-3 thousand miles since.
What the problem may be? What kind of mechanic should look at it? (the friend admitted to pushing buttons but since I wasn't there I don't know if that was before he tried to move out of Park or after).
I have 2013 elentra just about a year old, (Took delivery june/2012). Recently some thing happen on the Shift lever, can't shift to "R" for back in parking, Shift to "N" is OK.
Some time it can't shift out from PARK to "R" or "N" or "D" ... Under any of this situation,car engine would not start.
Sound like the SHIFT LOCK did not release properly, or the Brake paddle position switch input did not send to Computer for engine Start.
I have a manual transmission and am having difficulties with my stick shifter. I had my car in neutral with my foot on the brake, and when I tried to shift into first gear I was unable to get it into gear. I wasn't able to get it in any other gear as well. Once the car was turned off though, I had no problems getting into gear. But when I turned the car on again, I wouldn't allow me to get anywhere but neutral. After about 10 minutes being off and not moving, the car shifted like normal again and I was able to drive it without a problem.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 f250 and I am unable to rotate the hubs from automatic. I have removed them and while I had them apart, I was still unable to rotate the selector. It wouldn't turn even with a crescent wrench putting pressure on it. I repacked them with grease and reinstalled and they still work when in 4 wheel drive. I am just concerned that when the vacuum does go out, I will not get the hubs to manually lock in.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2002 Durango 2WD about 115000 miles. I have steering noise and some play. I can hear the noise when the truck is park and move the wheel from side to side about an inch. I had the upper ball joints replace, outer tie-rods and wheel bearings some time ago. Could this be the gear box. I now this trucks are notorious for ball joint problems if it says Durango in the back yeah your ball joins are bad. At the moment I am parking the truck and have it check over the weekend.

View 1 RepliesI recently parked my 2001 Accent for the past year and now the rear passenger side wheel won't move. I'm assuming it has seized. I am trying to open the drum for the rear wheel but am not really sure how. The wheel is removed so is the Bolt locking the drum in place. Should it now just pull off? I have a read that it is possible the emergency break is whats causing it to seize up. How does one manually removing the parking break lock ?
View 2 RepliesMy problem is that my explorer, 130,000 miles will not engage in any gear while in 2 wheel drive or 4H. Truck will only engage in 4L. And when it does engage in 4L it hesitates and jumps into gear, especially drive. Also takes some doing to get it out of 4L. While truck is in 2 wheel and in drive, my speedometer reads about 20 mph with truck not moving. It does not do it in reverse. Also gears will grind when I attempt to put vehicle back in park because of it registering that I'm doing 20. Dropped pan and changed tranny fluid and filter. No change. Also not hearing transfer case engaging while I shift between auto, 4H and 4L. Really need this truck fixed ASAP, and need to do repairs myself.
View 2 RepliesMy father who is elderly, has difficulty disengaging the steering column lock on his 2006 Saturn Vue. I also have experienced this problem even after trying to rock the wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key over. This appears to be a known problem and we have had to tow the Vue in for have the cylinders "de-burred," but the problem persists. He has had many vehicles with this feature in the past, but we have never had any problems before. Does this feature can be disabled. I am afraid he will be stranded some place away from home because he is unable to get the car started. I realize this is an anti-theft device, but it that is a risk we are willing to take.
