View 19 RepliesI've owned my '04 echo since new. It now has 172,000 km on it. It still has the factory original shocks and struts in it. Surely its time to replace them. I've never owned a car that used struts before. Now I have read here before if they aren't leaking then they are ok.
I guess I could do the old shock test of bouncing the car up and down and see how many times the car bounces after you stop pushing up and down on the fenders. The car just seems to ride harsher over the bumps in the road now.
Headlight bulbs. So I am looking to replace my bulbs because mine don't seem to have that great of light output. I am not sure if it is the actual headlight or if it is just the bulbs? Is it possible to just replace the bulbs and get better light output? I am not sure of the brand of headlights I have but I am pretty sure they are some cheap aftermarket ebay headlights. I want to replace the headlights in the future but for now I was wondering if I can get away with just replacing the bulbs. When selecting the bulbs, are they all pretty much universal or do I have to buy specifically for the type of headlights I have?

So, it's time to replace the factory original brake pads?
My R is coming up on 140k miles. The shocks and struts are pretty beat and it rattles badly. I'm really thinking about just replacing the suspension components with oe type stuff or is it really worth it to spend the extra money on a coil over kit? A little lower stance and some adjustability would be nice, but not super important to me. I'd have to get a lower end coil over kit too, so is it really worth it? Or should I just replace the stuff and be done with it?
View 1 RepliesI'm replacing the lug nuts on all 4 wheels, however, I do not want to jack up the car. Can I replace one lug nut at the time per tire and then move to the next tire without lifting the car?
View 6 RepliesGot an 06 with factory air shocks. All of the air shocks need to be replace. Possible to just put in factory shocks or struts?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 F-15 XLT with a bed cover, tailgate cover and separate tailgate cap. The cap has cheap plastic clips that went into the tailgate but have broken off...this is a problem as I have a tonneau cover that is a tight fit. Every time I close the tailgate with the cover on, I have to jam the cap down and hope it is far enough by the time the tailgate closes.
2 Questions:
1) Where can I buy a reasonable replacement?
2) Is there a good solution to just repair? I tried JB Weld, but that did not seem to hold (surprisingly)
Can I use my original TPMS in my new wheels? I currently have 17' denvers and will be buying 18' wheels can I transfer my TPMS to my new wheels? Do I need to buy something?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2000 Malibu, with the original radio, and I'd like to hook up my MP3 player to it. I know that I could get something to hook up to the MP3 player that would broadcast over an unused FM frequency and play it that way. But I've been in other people's cars who did that, and it lost a lot of quality that way. Any way for me to wire something up to the radio that would let me plug my MP3 into it, either with a USB cable, or even a plug like the plug on my ear buds? If so, how would I do it?

View 7 RepliesI have a 1970 Pontiac GTO that i am restoring. It has the original matching numbers YS Code 400 HO engine. When I got it a few months back, it sounded pretty rough. We removed a valve cover and found a bent push rod. At that point we decided a complete rebuild was in order. We removed the motor and transmission from the car. I'm want to know if the transmission is original to the car but I don't know how to check the numbers for that. However, I could have found a clue. When we cleaned the motor and transmission I found the motor had been painted twice - the factory color with another blue over the top of it; the transmission had never been painted! Did GM ever produce cars and send them out with unpainted transmissions or has it just been replaced at some point?
View 18 RepliesI had a bulb go out and was replaced under warranty. The problem no is that it is a yellow color and not blue/white like the original and the other. The dealer said that after burn in it will also change to the blue/white.

View 12 RepliesA parking garage backed my 2012 Yukon XL into a cement wall. The trailer hitch is pushed back from its original position at least 3-4 inches. I took it to a dealership today and they said the frame is bent, but they could repair it.
View 8 RepliesI am 150 mi from my service dealer and my 2005 W12 won't start . The dash lights go on , a/c vents open etc, but the keyless start or the key itself does nothing .
I recall that there may be a way to use the Accessory Battery to start the car, but I don't recall the routine. I don't want to have any local roadside service messing around. BTW it is the original battery and shows about 14amps.
Ok so the basics first. The car is a 1990 Honda Civic DX hatchback. The swap is a 1999 Acura Integra GS-R. For about 3 months the car has been a no start. I would get 12 volts to the coil but they would not spark at the wires. I tested the wires for contiuity and they tested good. After trying multiple different harnesses and things the car seems to be in worse shape. The current problems are that it was blowing the 10volt alternator fuse everytime I keyed it to the ON(II) position. I unplugged the alternator and now it doesnt blow the fuse. I have fuel now and the CEL comes on and goes out as it should but the battery light does not come on at all. Im not sure if that is because I have the alt. unplugged. The main problem is that the car no longer cranks. Im back to the original harness that the car had cranked with before but now everytime I go to crank (turn he key to the START(III) position) the car the car shuts off. I checked the grounds and theyre all good. The fuses in both boxes are good as well. I dont know if its getting spark yet because it doesnt crank.
