I'm getting this clicking noise in the front drivers side of my car... it sounds like its related to the wheel because it's clicking in a rotation pattern, i.e. it slows down as I slow down, etc. The clicking noise dulls/goes away whenever I brake. Not sure if that means it's related to the brakes...or if it's something else.

View 9 RepliesWhat's that noise coming from the front end driver side. About 2 months ago Firestone replaced my 06 Vibe 5 speed manual base brakes, rotors, calipers, brake line & fluid replaced. The car is still making a noise when braking at low speeds. It generally happens after the cars been driven awhile or when warm. It sounds like metal on metal scraping. I can also feel vibration in the steering wheel when braking, is it possible that the hub bearing is going. I had the bearing replaced on the passengers side 2 years ago. Doesn't quite sound like the first bearing replacement. I took it back to shop and they replaced the brakes again when they replaced and flushed the lines. The problem is by the time they get to the car it's cooled down and they don't hear the sound. Should I have the hub wheel bearing replaced or is it something else.
View 3 RepliesI'm having horrible squeaking/creaking noises coming from the front drivers side area of my car. I can hear it inside the car with windows up or down. Not sure if you can hear it from the outside or not. It is only when going over bumps or uneven road surfaces at low speeds. If I'm even going like 40mph and there is uneven surface I don't hear anything. It's 85 degrees today, and I notice it has gotten worse with the hotter temps. I just purchased the car a few months ago when it was still winter, and only recall it gradually doing this as the weather has warmed up.
The weirdest thing is that my previous sunfire (also a 2002), made the same exact noise, but never did get it checked out because the head gasket blew and I got rid of it. I tried pushing on the front end while it's parked to see if it makes the noise, but I didn't hear the slightest chirp, unless I'm just not strong enough to give a good enough push. What could be wrong? I don't wanna throw a whole lot of money into it not being sure what it is, and I have read a lot of horror stories of mechanics trying to pinpoint noises and still not being able to find the culprit thousands of dollars later. 2002 Sunfire GT....
I've been hearing a rhythmic, metallic ringy grinding noise coming from the driver side front end of the car that seems to be in time with wheel rotation. It happens between 5 and 40mph, worsens while the steering wheel is turned even the slightest to the right, goes away completely during left turns, reduces and becomes intermittent above 45mph, and between 0 and 5mph, as I turn the wheel to the right from any position, I hear squeaking. I recently had the front control arm, ball joints and struts replaced. It has 140k miles. What could it be?

Its quiet if I am going straight, but it sounds like there is a linkage loose. Its not too loud or noisy, but having problems with tierods/knuckle assy?

I mostly hear it when my foot is off the gas and I'm just coasting (usually at slower speed). Also, it gets louder (worse) and is accompanied by what sounds like a rubbing when I take turns.. Is it axle bind? Or should I be concerned?

View 2 RepliesI've got a 2008 santa fe limited 3.3 awd with about 170000 km on it. Lately when I brake I've been hearing a clicking noise coming from what sounds like the driver side front wheel area.
Had it in to my mechanic who checked the brakes and said that pads/calipers/rotors were all fine. They replaced the passenger side front bearing on the lower control arm a few weeks ago and said there is no play or noise coming from any other suspension components.
Where to look next? My mechanic isn't sure what it is so I was going to take it to the dealer and see if they can fix it. Also had new tires installed about a month ago
I am hearing a weird knocking with every rotation of the left front wheel and I know it is not the cv joints. I replaced the wheel bearings on the car a week ago . I think it maybe the brakes have got loose and hitting the rotor or the wheel might be loose but I'm not really sure and it knocks faster with acceleration.

View 4 RepliesI know the whining is coming from the steering pump. Does that mean its going out? the wheels and the steering turn fine... not hard to turn or anything. My daughter is getting this car tomorrow. and i want to make sure nothing is really wrong with the car. it has been sitting outside under deck for over 1 year. i had to pump up the tires, other then that... she started right over no prob. never had the whine before... Looked in the resevoir and looks fine... a little over 1/2 full.
View 3 RepliesI recently replaced my wheel studs on my 2000 nissan xterra (front drives side). In the process I had to take apart my wheel assembly and put it all back together. Now that all the pieces are back together I took the car for a test drive. When I put it into 4 wheel drive 2 to 4 clicks with every rotation of the wheel. I also noticed buzzing noise while driving in 2 wheel drive. while quiet it sounded like the noise you would get as a child putting a baseball card in your bicycle wheel spokes. The noise is coming from the wheel that I just did work on and I cant figure out what is causing it.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe with almost 50,000 miles. Lately it's been making a very small noise that seems to be located at the lower part of the car just in front of the driver...I will have difficultly describing it, but it's sort of like huhmmm. It was only happening every once in a while, but is now more frequent. If I had my radio on, I would not hear it as it is not particularly loud. It happens when I driving...ie foot on gas... but not necessarily when I speed up or slow down.
View 1 RepliesI have a clicking sound on the driver side front tire. It only makes the noise when I am in motion and have the wheel turned. It does it reverse and forward. The CV axle is not turning, and it does it with 4x4 engaged and the cv axle turning. I had the front end apart not to long ago replacing the IWE Integrated wheel hub, and the bearing isn't to terrible old, and its a timken.
It didn't wobble when the wheel was up in the air, and seemed solid. All the other front end pieces have also been replaced. I also hear a rubbing noise when I am driving on that side. For awhile before I replaced my IWE Hub I thought it was the cv axle just turning ( I had the lined unplugged so it was engaged to prevent damage), well after fixing the IWE Hub it still makes the sound and the cv axle is not turning as it was before.
Wondering if the bearing is maybe on its way out? One thing I did notice is tie rod end I just replaced along with all my new front end parts (upper control arms, and lower ball joints) the boot is severed completely all the way around. However the tie rod appeared to be in good shape, just the boot has been cut or split some how. Which I plan to fix, but I don't see how that would cause a clicking sound. I have inspected to make sure no lines or vac hoses are rubbing, and they are not.

While I'm driving my car ( at a rolling speed 5mph-20mph) I get a clicking sound from front driver side when I hit a small bump, stop, and stop and go at a traffic light. Mainly clicking noise when I hit bumps, but when traveling at highway speeds and I hit a bump I do not hear the clicking noise. ITS VERY ANNOYING, and I have never heard this noise after the brutal snow we just got here in MA. Also I should add, I am currently on BC Racing BR type coil overs which I bought brand new and installed in October. Its not clunking like ball joints, or banging like a blown strut mount.
My question; Where to start? Something needs lubrication?
Over the last few days I've noticed a clicking noise coming from the front driver wheel. This clicking has been getting louder, everything seems in check, no crazy vibrations, or vering side to side and all lugs are tight. The clicking stops when the break is applied, could this be break pad warning chippers? I have yet had time to take wheel off and look.
View 6 RepliesSo I have this clicking noise driving me crazy. I just spent the past hour tightening every bolt of the subframe, the front and rear swaybar endlinks, the strut tower bolts, and every other bolt I could see that looked like it could make noise. I also verified that the exhaust wasn't hitting anything. I've had ST coilovers on for the past 17000 miles, so I'm almost positive it has nothing to do with these. I also have the BSH torque arm insert and re-torqued that bolt also.
I'm pretty sure the noise has been there for a while, but I thought it was just rocks kicking up. It has seemed to get louder lately though. Like I said I've looked over everything and the noise is still there. It seems to be from the driver side, but it could just be because I sit there. I can reproduce it when going forward, but not reverse (I don't think anyway). And it is more prevalent at low speed...and going over low speed bumps it makes the noise also.
Okay first i will start with the driver side window... it doesnt want to go up or down but it creates a clicking noise, and then the blower doesnt blow anymore.
