Pontiac :: 2004 - C0035 Code And No ABS?

Jul 21, 2015

My Grand Prix has no ABS or traction control since the month after I bought it. I have changed the bearings/sensors (multiple times) and the wiring harnesses for the front. I still have a C0035 Code and no ABS. I feel I don't need them since I've had this car for 4 years and haven't had them but I'm so tired of looking at the lights on the dash (not to mention every time I start the darn thing it beeps at me a crapload of times to let me know the abs/traction/stability/tire pressure monitoring systems are not working). I just changed the front bearings/sensors for the third time since I got the car (might as well do it before the old bearings warranty runs out) and still have a dummy light. Am I just completely missing something here?

Buick - Rendezvous :: ABS Light Won't Go Away - Code C0040 And C0035

I have a 2002 Buick Rendezvous CX (2wd no traction control). My ABS is throwing a C0040 and C0035 code. After reading some info it seems to most likely be a wiring issue. Would a wiring issue also cause brake performance issues? At times when I brake there is a slight "pulsating" feeling in the pedal accompanied by a noise like I'm on gravel (not the bad pads/rotors noise). I can also here a very fast (but faint) clicking noise when I brake at low speeds.

Pontiac - Grandprix :: Code P0741 - TCC Stuck Off

Code is for tcc stuck on. Code p0741 is tcc stuck off. So, it's a sticky solenoid. Which means it may start out sticking occasionally and progress to sticking more often and finally staying on/off permanently? If u get the code/symptoms 1 time, does it usually mean it will happen again, soon?

Pontiac - Leaks - Grandam :: EGR Valve Throwing A Code

I drive a 1995 3.1L V6 Pontiac Grand Am SE.

My mechanic told me that my EGR valve was throwing a code, so I took it off and cleaned it out and tried to fish out some of the carbon in the air intake tube. I used carb cleaner on the valve and the tube and I sprayed a little bit of air duster into the tube, but it made a funny noise so I stopped after about 1 second of spraying.

When I put it back on, I forgot to snap the wiring harness back onto the top EGR solenoid. I reconnected the negative battery cable and started my car. The gauges red fine. I revved my engine a few times and everything seemed okay. Then I turned off my engine and then turned it back on to listen for any rough idling (that's why I decided to clean the EGR in the first place). Then I turned it off.

When I got out of the car, I realized I forgot to reattach the wiring harness to the EGR. I disconnected the negative battery cable and it sparked a tiny bit. I reconnected the wiring harness to the EGR. Afterwards, I noticed that it had leaked some fluid (I'm guess oil?) into my engine. There was a very small amount of light smoke or steam (not sure which), but it stopped a minute or two later. I've attached a picture for reference.

Is it safe to reconnect my negative battery cable and try restarting my car????

Pontiac - Montana :: 2006 - Check Gas Cap / Code P0455

I have a 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6 with 80,000 miles on it. Recently the dashboard warning "check gas cap" has started coming on. I have replaced the gas cap and cleared the code and it is doing it again. It seems like it is more likely to do it when the gas tank is 1/2 or less full but it also did it today with almost a full tank. The code from the computer said P0455, what this could be?

Pontiac - Grandam :: 2001 Getting OBD Code P0301 / P0420?

We bought a used 2001 Grand Am (V6 automatic) a few months ago. Mileage was just under 100,000. It was running decently at first, but that improved once we did more maintenance. It's gone from about 150 miles on the highway on a full tank to about 250. A lot of the problems didn't reveal themselves until we took it onto the highways. These are the parts we changed in the last 2 months:

-new battery (old one was 0.1 above fail)-all 6 spark plugs-catalytic converter-front oxygen sensor-oil filter-timing belt-pcv valve and breather hose (old one melted)-all 4 shocks/struts

Latest problem is OBD code P0301 cylinder #1 misfire. The entire car started to shake when we were in low speed in a drive thru. It only seems to shake in drive gear and it does it the whole time. It doesn't shake in reverse or any other gear. Found out #1 spark plug was cracked and a chunk of the ceramic portion was missing. It got replaced but that didn't fix the problem. Haven't noticed any white exhaust yet. The ignition fails 1/7 of the time since P0301surfaced.

The last problem we had was P0420. We went to 3 different shops and nobody was able to fix the problem properly. It wasn't until the pcv valve and breather hose were replaced that the code disappeared. The valve was actually cracked and parts of the breather hose were melted. I can't understand why nobody noticed that.

I know there could be a lot going on, but I was hoping the possible problem could be narrowed down.

Pontiac - Montana :: Code For EGR Valve Stuck Open After Replacement

I had a code for the EGR valve stuck open. I tried cleaning it but it didn't work (and didn't seem that dirty). Then I tried replacing it. Both times the code came back. What should I do now? I reset the code each time by disconnecting the battery.

Pontiac :: Check Engine Light On / Evap Leak Code?

I've had a check engine light on in my 3.5 Pontiac G6 for awhile now. It's an emission code (can't remember what code but evap leak). The solenoid by canister was also tripping a code that disappeared after I changed it. However, the evap code still persists. Last night while changing my oil I noticed the intake air hose to the crankcase had broke at the case and wasn't connected. It's the hose that runs from the engine intake to the crankcase for the PCV system.

I am replacing the hose regardless, but my question is; would the intake hose for the PCV system being loose cause an evap leak code? I am thinking no but it'd be nice if it was that simple.

Pontiac - Bonneville :: Engine Code / Miss On Number 3 Injector

My engine codes as a no 3 injector miss. sometimes it misses more severe than others. When accelerating it doesn't seem to be missing. I have changed out injectors, ignition control modules, spark plug wires etc. Sometimes it doesn't miss or code out at all but this is rare.

Pontiac - Grandprix :: 2002 - Service Engine Soon Light Has Been On / Code P0442 And P0128

Got a 2002 GT with the NA 3.8 and 150,000 miles. The car has pretty much sat for the past 6 months, driven very sparingly. If it's been sitting for a while (like over night or longer) it will start no problem. If I turn the car off for a shorter period, it will crank but not fire. It will start only if I pump the gas as I'm turning the ignition.

In addition, on occasions it has died while at idle or coasting to a stoplight. After it dies it will fire back up no problem.

Fuel problem perhaps?

The "Service Engine Soon" light has been on for about a month before it started acting up. I had the codes checked at AutoZone and it came up with P0442 and P0128.

Pontiac - Grandprix :: Got Error Code P0140 / 1404 - Rear O2 Sensor No Activity?

Got a p0140 code. Rear O2 sensor no activity. Changed sensor 1 yr ago. Not Bosch or delco sensor. So, code is back. I did quick code check and also see a 1404 code for egr pintle range.a stuck egr usually makes car run poor, sometimes stall. But motor purrs like kitten. No driving issues at all. I clear code and 15 min later both come back. Any connection between both codes or total coincidence?

Trans Sport :: 1992 Pontiac 3.1L V6 TBI Engine Refused To Start / Fuel Pump Relay Error Code

We have a '92 Pontiac Trans Sport with a 3.1L V6 TBI engine. Last Sunday evening it refused to start like someone left the transmission in Drive and the Park/Neutral switch was preventing it to start. There's the buzz sound from the fuel pump when you put the key on then nothing when you turn it to start the engine.

I checked the Park/Neutral swith by connecting an ALDL cable to the OBD port and it indicates correctly when I move the lever to Drive or Parking/Neutral. The only error code stored is "Fuel Pump Relay" but the Fuel Pump appear to be working?!

Battery is good, fuel pump fuse intact and the Park/Neutral switch appear to be working. How we can tackle this problem?

Pontiac - Grandam :: 2004 - ABS Light On / Off?

This is on a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM.

The old GM ABS light problem. The lights were on a month ago and the left front hub was replaced, the light went out. They just came back on all of a sudden (coincided with the temperature dropping to 15F). The next day they were out. Then the next day they came back on. I couldn't get a code read with the basic scan tool.

Where should I start? I'm thinking of cleaning the speed sensor connectors and reseating with dialectic grease. Maybe they're dirty or a bit brittle due to age and the cold?

Grand AM :: 2004 Pontiac / V6 - AC Gets Hot When Stop At Stoplight

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, it has a V6. I live in AZ, so right now its like 110 outside and my ac will work fine when i am driving but when i stop at a stoplight it starts blowing hot but when I start driving again it takes about a minute and then it will blow cold again and it does this same thing at every stoplight, but if the car is just idling in my yard with the ac on it blows cold it doesn't do this, I thought maybe it was low on freon and bought a can of ac pro with a gauge and when i checked the pressure it went into the red so it says not to add any, and contact a mechanic. But what may be wrong with it first, I replaced the ac compressor 2 years ago. A couple of days ago I replaced all the radiator hoses and the radiator and the coolant tank and of course added the right amount of dexcool. The car is not getting hot, the problem is just with the ac ,

Pontiac - Grandam :: 2004 Keeps Dying With A New Battery

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am with about 130k miles on it. For some reason my car has been dying lately. It did this a few times so the obvious thing was to buy a new battery- oct 2011. Everything was good for a couple months but I recently went on a trip for the weekend and when I came home the car was dead. I jumped it and everything was good until this week. I had a work conference and left wednesday at 8am. When I got home Friday at 5pm the car was dead again. I had an alternator test done before but could it be the alternator? I love my little car and would like to get a couple more years out of her!!!

Pontiac - Grandam :: 2004 Tries To Turn Over But Won't Start

Have a 2004 Grand am that was having some problems starting:

1) The last 10 times it would start cold, but it would take about 5-10 seconds of turnover before actually starting.
2) After it started, it would start fine the rest of the day.

Now it will not start at all. Today is the coldest day of the year so far... 43 degrees. It tries to turn over. The security light came on once, but did not come on again (i know that's a common problem). (note: I have not seen it in person, but will later today). Either fuel or spark.

My thought: either fuel pump, fuel pump relay, sensor, wires/plugs, etc.

Pontiac - Grandam :: 2004 - Gas Smell And Shaking

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am with a 3.4L engine. When I start my car after it has been sitting for a while, especially in the morning, the engine shutters making the car shake when it is put into Reverse and Drive. Plus a horrible gas smell come from the hood and into the heating vents. So to alleviate the shaking I let the car run for several minutes which in turn makes the gas smell worse. The smell continues to get worse when the car is stopped at a alight or stop sign. to eventually go away as the car heats up. The check engine light blinks with the shaking then disappears but eventually stayed on with a cylinder misfire code. I took it to a shop who told me that was the head gaskets.

Pontiac - Montana :: 2004 - Engine Will Rev Really High When Started

My van will rev really high when started and may stay that way for most of the day. Sometimes once it is turned off it will restart just fine. but when it is revving like this you have to hold the break down at stop lights, constantly slow down because it wants to take off. Now it is stalling when driving slowly. the throttle positioning censor has been replace a couple of times.

Pontiac - Grandam :: 2004 - All Dashboard Functions Failed

I have a 2004 Grand Am and a month or so ago, I started it up and all the dashboard functions failed. RPM, speedometer, odometer, fuel, temp all stopped working. The dials read zero and the odo did readout but did not advance. Some of the idiot lights also came on. The radio is also dead and is either totally blank or reads "LOC", but the air blows fine. Also the key fob will not lock/unlock and neither will the door controls lock the doors but the windows work. It was fine the next day. Now it has returned and has lasted 2 days so far.

Full disclosure: I did replace the PCM in December because something in the Passlock system was failing and not letting me start the car. The replacement PCM is an exact replacement that has had the Passlock code commented out. There have been zero problems with the PCM since then.

Pontiac - Grandam :: 2004 V6 - Rough Idle And Hesitation

I own a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am V6... recently it has developed a rough idle - kind of like the car is hiccuping - and it hesitates when I accelerate from a stop. Now, it doesn't have issues changing gears so I'm not inclined to believe its a transmission issue...thought it might be the fuel filter, but I changed it and that did nothing.. I'm not getting a check engine light, which is frustrating because if I try to pull the codes it won't throw me any... so it's a guessing game now. I've gotten mixed reviews - anything from a bad catalytic converter to a faulty O2 sensor or idle air controller or a bad head gasket.. but my exhaust is completely clean...others say maybe its bad spark plug wires or other electrical issue (which is a whole other ball game) or possibly bad fuel injectors causing a misfire?
