Noises :: 2007 Camry LE Exhaust Buzzing When Accelerating
Nov 23, 2014
I have a 2007 Camry le 4 cylinder. When under a load on the highway there is an occasional buzzing that occurs when accelerating (sounds like a piece of metal vibrating at a high pitch). It only happens under about 3000 RPMs and the noise doesn't occur any other time (idle, reving the engine while idle, slow speeds, etc.). Today I got it up on a lift and checked all of the heat shields under the hood and around the exhaust under the car. Nothing seemed loose. I had two mechanics look at it and one thinks that the exhaust flex pipe is the culprit, while the other insists that this is a known issue with the resonator (said a small piece may have broken off of a baffle inside and is vibrating). Are either of these components well known to cause this type of issue? I'd rather not replace both if one is frequently the cause.

So I was at my friend's shop today getting something done and since I wouldn't have to pay for it, I had him hook up the OBD scanner. Turns out the check engine light I've been having sporadically show up is P0420. After getting this, I had the sinking feeling of knowing finally what the problem was. Recently I've been having some very loud noises coming from my exhaust, and not from the tips where it should be. So we jacked up the car, and what do I find? The connection right behind the catalytic converter where it connects to the rest of the rear exhaust was compromised. Apparently I had scraped the exhaust a couple times too forcefully and it separated at the flange and the gasket is no longer sealing. So here's my question. I have the TRD CAT-back exhaust. Is there a generic universal gasket that I can use to replace the leaking one? Or am I looking at needing to find a shop to make one?

I own a Toyota Camry that has about 180,000 miles. Yesterday, when I started the car, a high pitched whine occurred when the engine turned and the volume of the whine decreased after about 5 minutes (car was in park). The pitch of the whine increases when I accelerate, up to about 50 mph, and then the whine stops around the 50 mph mark. When the car decelerates, the pitch of the whine decreases. This does not seem to be linked in any way to the steering. The whine does occur when the car idles.
There are no alert lights on in the dashboard, only an odd noise.

Strange noise from what sounds like the suspension when I accelerate and then when I turn also. Truck was in Hawaii so that might have something to do with it. How do I get these noises to stop?

Recently bought a 07 Camry Se with the JBL system in it. The stereo had no sound and after checking I found that the 25amp fuse under the hood was missing. I replaced it and as soon as the amp received power it started buzzing in all speakers. I was able to stop the buzzing by unplugging the connector on left of the blue connector in the middle of the amp. That connector seem to control the rear deck speakers. I now have clear sound from the front speakers but nothing from the back. So question I have is does this sound like more of an Amp problem or speaker problem?
One more note I also found that the rear trunk torsion bar clip was broken, from what I have read these bars can cause a short on the rear speaker if they touch the speaker would that cause a speaker or amp to blow?

Bought the car used a few months ago with a little less than 72k miles. At 72k miles, I replaced all brake pads. Car now has 75k miles on it. Wife just got back from a 1k mile road trip with it.
I took it for a little ride, and noticed this problem about 3 times, it doesn't happen every time. There is no vibration or anything when slowing down and stopping. But, a few times, when the car was at, or almost at a complete stop, the brake pedal would feel like it was buzzing a little bit, and I could hear a springy sound. I tried to reproduce it with hard braking, but couldn't. Seemed to only happen with slow, gradual breaking, and when the car was just about at a complete stop. Brake fluid is full. No lights on dash. Asked my wife if she slammed breaks at all, or had any problems, she said no. Then she said she experienced what I did once, when she was at a rest area, stopped
The only thing I can think to compare it to is how the brake pedal feels and sounds if you lock up your brakes, and the ABS is doing its thing....which I haven't ever done with this car...

My 2007 Camry makes clunking noises when I turn the steering wheel to the left mostly. This happens most often when the weather is warm and hot but not during the winter time.
The noise seems to come only from around the steering wheel area inside my vehicle. Hence, I don't think it has to do with the CV Joints or anything like that but the steering wheel unit.

Leaking exhaust manifold? The truck has a much louder than normal "knock" when accelerating. At first I thought and had some bad fuel in the tank. I eliminated that with a full take of good fuel and some STP but the "knocking" continued. Then I thought that perhaps it wasn't firing on all cylinders but it felt like it had full power. I took it to my mechanic and he said it as a exhaust manifold leak. He said that he has never replaced the exhaust manifold but that it was a "nightmare" and expensive. He also said that it's not a safety issue but on the long run the leak would cause the truck not to pass its emission test. He said the problem was with rusted bolts that would be difficult to remove.

Girl next door has a 2010 Chevy Impala w/31k mi. Has a buzzing noise from LF while traveling. This is not a clunking CV joint, so don't tell me that. Not a wheel bearing, okay.
This occurs while traveling straight at 20 and up. I jacked LF up. Noise very noticeable on left while in forward gear, but not reverse. Noise more audible in cabin than outside. In neutral, spun wheel by hand, no noise. Compared right side, same tests, no noise.
New brakes last year. Brakes look real good as do rotors. Consulted three mechanics, none have ever heard of this before.

I have a 07 Camry LE. I recently replaced the belt tensioner and belt. A couple, maybe three weeks later its having symptoms of hesitation when accelerating and when at a stop. The rpm's are stable but seem to dip below its operating specification, causing the car to come to a wobble felt just like when you're in too low a gear when driving a standard vehicle. I suspect it may be air related but that's just a guess. I have not looked under the hood yet since its dark out and would like to get some feedback on this problem. Another probable cause I suspect is the fuel filter. The car has 113,000 miles and i doubt its ever been changed (I am the second owner).
Before I changed the tensioner I could be a stop and then suddenly press the accelerator to avoid oncoming traffic. The car will stall and die sometimes. It's has only done this to me on two occasions. Both at the same location. Rapid acceleration at this point was on an incline. If it matters.

2007 Camry, I4, 156000km ... For some time now, when i accelerate i hear this faint pinging/rattling sound which sounds like its a pulley rattling or some sort of chain that is loose. It mainly happens when i start from a complete stop and even sometimes when i press the accelerator while cruising. I hear the noise more when the windows are rolled down and it sounds like it coming from underneath/front of the car.
I have changed the accessory belt and checked all the pulleys for tightness and they seem pretty tight, no wobbliness. I have gotten a dealer to check it out, and they told me it was the flex pipe, i had it changed and still hear the noise, this was quite a while ago. Also no leaks from the water pump area.
The sound can only be heard when the car is in motion, and if i put it in park, or N and rev the car there is no sound. I have heard that it could be suspension related and i have had a mechanic check the suspension and he says he cannot see anything wrong. I even tried to run premium gas in the car to rule out engine pinging, and sure enough the noise persists with 91 octane gas.
Could it be related to transmission? I do a fluid drain and fill every 30,000km. And the fluid always looks new and does not smell burnt. How I can get to the bottom of this noise?

This is going to sound odd but here is the case: When accelerating in car from 0 mph to about 10-15 mph there is a noise coming from the rear. It sounds as if it is coming from the axial or something because it does it once every revolution. But the wierd thing is is that it does it louder when it rains or any moisture is in the air!
We had back right bearing replaced. But still makes noise. Don't think it is rock or tire because it only does it sometimes when speeding up. And does it very loud when raining or humid

I would like to retrofit the Lexus LS exhaust tips on my 2007 4 cylinder SE 4 Cyl, only if dual exhaust conversion doesn't have any adverse effects on my car.
Idk much about piping and exhaust systems. Where would the second pipe split from, after or before cat? what pipe diameter? Should the pipe diameter for both exhausts be smaller? Will it affect my hp/torque? Would it be louder or quieter? Any other forseeable effects?

A few days ago I managed to replace the front and intermediate exhaust pipes using new hardware and new gaskets. Prior to this (see my other thread about the rusted flex line), I did get P0137, but that was probably due to the fact the pipe broke before the O2 sensor, giving it a strange reading.
Two days ago after replacing the exhaust with Dealer parts, ensuring everything was tight, and putting the old O2 sensor back, I started the vehicle up, and upon idle, there were no lights whatsoever. Today several minutes after I started driving, I received the check engine light, and with the code reader, came up with the codes P0138 and P0606.
P0138 is O2 Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 2), which is the sensor I removed and put back.
I assume that this sensor needs to be replaced, and I assume that this has caused the P0606 ECM code as well.
Before ordering a new sensor, is there anything else I should check? I did make sure to plug the old sensor back in properly, and checked all the connections on the exhaust to ensure they were tight. All parts were Dealer parts, and nothing else was touched, changed, or modified.
The car sounds, and drives great since the exhaust change.

I shift at certain rpms from 1st-2nd just to hear the burble / popping out of the exhaust.. I hold it around 3k and the shift and let off the gas and it's a Orchestra of amazing noises that are Oh so addicting. Secondly, are there any negatives to doing this? Or that sometimes I hear the loud thud / pop when slowing down but not everytime . What is the true cause of these glorious noises.

My 93 previa recently went in for brakes, shocks, and tune up. 320,000 miles original owner. Afterwards it ran rough. The o2 sensor needed replacing. When I got it back it ran rough. Mechanic assured me it just needed a little time. It has the following issues:Left front would shudder like an out of balance tire between 50-70. Replaced tire. Now it hesitates and stutters at 70. Feels like its choking out. Won't climb hills without shifting a lot. No pick up. Gets 12 miles to the gallon instead of 20. First three minutes of driving are okay, after that it rides terrible. I have him looking at it now. He swears it is just because it's old.

I have a 98 Honda Accord EX Coupe V6 with 175,000 miles. In the last 500 miles, I recently starting hearing a gurgling noise when I accelerate. It is rather faint and it goes away when I either let off the gas or my speed is constant. Also, I haven't noticed any appreciable loss of power or a decrease in gas mileage, but I am curious as to what the noise could be and if I need to have it serviced.
