What is the meaning of the persistent warning beeps that occur approximately every minute? The warning beeps began after the car was turned off following a 200 mile trip and are still occurring now. No warning light ever came on. How do I stop them?

Initially the noise Whining/ Squealing - sounds like a bad belt - would occur at approximately 40 mph and continue through the drive but if I dropped down to 30-35 mph it would stop. This would happen sporadically. Now it is occuring about every time I drive. I have had it in the VW Dealer twice and they are unable to detect the problem .

View 3 RepliesAbout 2 months ago my Touareg was rear-ended. I just got it back from the body shop and am finding little things that are not the same and I am wondering if they just need reprogramming or if these could be a bigger issue (going back to the body shop today)?
1. They replaced the entire liftgate, but the rear wiper is not working even though the washer fluid does.
2. The interior lights are on, even though all doors are shut, when the switch is set to the open door setting.
3. There is no beep when I lock my vehicle with the keyfob, but the lights blink.
4. There are no warning beeps for the parking sensors, even though the dash lights up.
After dining at a restaurant in East Lansing when temp was close to zero F., we found the doors frozen. Not a problem: one yank and they open. Then as soon as we reach 12 mph, instead of the auto lock, the driver's door unlatches and the warning light and beeps come on. Stop. Close door. Continue. Same again. Start, manually lock doors, and at 12 mph driver's door unlatches. And again. Drive home with warning lights and beeps. No problem next day. But curious.
View 2 RepliesI am driving down the road and the TPMS light starts to blink - and then stays on. I looked in the manual and it says that "When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute: Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system." The resolution is to "Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer."
All my pressures, including the spare are how I have them set. I also made sure to re-set the TPMS button under the steering wheel to the new pressures and everything. I'll let you know what I find out. I'm kinda mad a sensor has failed though on a car that's less than one year old.
Under your Prius, you have "guards" made of plastic and held in place by fasteners that unscrew off but press onto the bolt studs coming down from the metal. They basically shield the underside from debris but have holes to let water flow back out.
I had a persistent squeak for the last couple of weeks that was really annoying me. So, I set out to see what I could do about it. I thought I'd have to add an adhesive pad as a "bumper" between two parts, but when I tapped on the guard (reproducing the noise), I could tell there was a lot of pea gravel in there.
It took a while to get the first fastener off. They don't just "unscrew" that easily. The slightest pressure and you wind up pushing them back on. So, I had to work with two tools with one being a screwdriver gently prying it away from the panel so each turn made it come farther off the bolt. Once the first one was done, the rest were easy. Three in total on each side.
I got a cereal bowl full of pea gravel out of each guard. I was shocked that so much road debris was trapped up on there, but this stuff was big enough to not flow out with the water.
My in-laws have a Passat with an errant oil sensor that throws warnings even though the engine is "fine" oil-wise. My information on the car is incomplete but I'll do my best - it is is 1999 or a 2000 with about 175k miles, it has the 1.8L turbo engine, the transmission is Tiptronic, the factory radio is installed and has never been removed, and there is nothing actually "wrong" regarding engine oil (it is the correct type, checking it several times shows correct level, no weird non-lubricating sounds from the engine nor anything like overheating, etc).
Every once in a while during all kinds of driving (not related to RPMs, weather, etc.) the oil warning light comes on and a subset of those times is accompanied by a LOUD three beep alarm. Is there any way to tell the car to chill out with the audio alarm and just blink the light? Unfortunately "replace the sensor" isn't an option the owners seem willing to consider, so I'm looking for alternatives.
This has been verified by multiple mechanics over time as being a sensor issue, and there is no oil issue, I just want to attempt to stop the annoying reactions people have when the car constantly beeps at them (ridicule all you like, I am only asking about disabling the beep not both the beep and the light and ONLY in the case of warnings caused by this specific failed sensor, which will never be replaced).
On a few occasion, usually during cool weather, the engine temperature rises up to 130 C, the coolant overheating warning comes on for a few about a minute or two and then the temperature goes back to normal (90 C.)
The car has 106,000 km. I purchased it last summer from an independent use car dealer. I inquired about the car calling the previous owner. He did mentioned that the only problem he ever experience was that the car overheated on a few occasion during the winter months (cooler weather).
Could it be that the thermostat needs to be replaced?
I have a 2015 Avalon XLE. Am I missing something? There are no warning beeps when backing close to an object. Cannot find anything in the Users Manual. The basic does not have the sensors.
View 5 RepliesYesterday while driving my B5 Passat suddenly I heard 2 beeps and a STOP is displayed together with the ABS and brake warning lights just for a few seconds then turned to normal. I took the car to the VW service they've connected the car to the diagnostic system and said no fault. Since yesterday I saw this warning 1 more time. They recommended me to replace the break fluid tank where the fluid level sensor is mounted on, just for replacing the sensor since the fluid level is ok.
Today while the engine is running at idle I pulled out the break fluid sensor cable for 1 or 2 minutes but nothing is displayed and saw no break indication. What will be reason for this?
Last week a warning light appeared on screen. It flickered on and off for a minute, and I think it was going on more when I was cornering. Then it stayed on and has been on ever since.
I did a search and read the post about the clock spring recall. But it is not a recall in the UK. I'm in the UK where they sold this model from 2006. I guess I'm going to have to take it to the dealer and get them to read the codes.
Is there anything simple I can check myself first, like for a lose connection under the seats of anything like that?

View 10 RepliesSo while driving my mom's 99 passat, after a few miles it gives six loud beeps, the BRAKE light comes on, the oil pressure warning light starts flashing, the ABS light flashes, and the tach sits at zero.
Brakes still work, havent tested ABS. there's no noticeable change in performance. I'm assuming this is the CCM and ABS modules on their last breaths.
After about an hour of driving, the coolant temperature light on my 2010 GTI started blinking. The gauge never showed a temperature higher than the usual 190, including traffic and idling. Having reached my destination, I shut the car off and then back on, happy to see no warning lights at all. One dinner and some three hours later, I started back for home. 20 minutes into the drive, the car sounded three tones and the blinking light came on again.
Like before, the car drove without incident for the rest of the drive, and the light was no longer present once the car had been shut off and then on again. The owner's manual said that the coolant level might be too low, or the temperature too high, but neither of these seem to be the case. The car is equipped with GIAC stage I software and an Audi S3 intercooler.
So naturally I thought a nail had punctured a tire leading to a slow leak. When I got home I found no nail and the tire pressure on all four tires even but down to about 36psi.
I refilled to my normal of 40/38 and reset the TPMS with the button below the steering wheel. The light stayed on for a minute or two of driving then turned off and stayed off for my commute to work.
What I think probably happened is that I reduced from 42/40 to 40/38 recently without a TPMS reset. Then this morning the temperature outside was 55F and about 65F in my garage. When I left the garage at 5:20AM the TPMS light was off. I drive about 2 mile to the gym each morning and park my C for about an hour. This morning, when I got back in the car the tires had cooled to 55F and I guess that was enough to reduce the pressure far enough to trip my warning light.
My 2nd gen 2007 Prius started to show a strange behavior today and I don't find any answer to it. While driving without any cars close, with all seat belts closed and nothing on the passenger seat I started to hear slow paced beeps (approx. 20) then fast paced beeps. When I switch off the car and started it again I got the same beeps after approx. 30 seconds. I never got any visual warning and the OBD reader doesn't show any error code.

View 3 RepliesHad the low tire light indicating a tire has low pressure, which I have had happen before and so inflate all tires from 38 to 40 lbs each. After a few tire rotations, lamp extinguishes. Except this time it doesn't. It blinks for a minute then lights steady.
Any way to reset it (didn't find anything in owners manual) or tell if its the sensor in a tire or the sensor element on car? Either way suppose will be a visit to Toyota repair. Oh well, first real visit for a problem in six years (other than for recalls), other than headlight replacements and oil changes.
I definitely thought this was because my fob batteries were low, because 2010 Prius started beeping three beeps while driving last week, but while parked in the garage (OFF), with both fobs very far away from the car, it's beeping three beeps every 20 seconds. I even locked it using the fob, and it's still beeping every 20 seconds.
I've got two new fob batteries on order, but I worry the 12v is working overtime. What else could it be??? My sister's 2009 Prius is also parked in the driveway..
