Impala - Chevrolet :: 1996 - Low Beam In One Of Headlights Just Went Out
Jan 30, 2011
On my 1996 Impala SS, the low beam in one of my headlights just went out. Is this something I can fix easily or should I have a shop do it? Is it just a bulb to replace or the a whole sealed beam headlight?

Recently the check engine light came on and coded out to the mass air flow sensor. I changed the sensor and cleared the fault code, but after doing so the car wouldn't start. After many failed attempts to start the motor, I disconnected the positive lead at the battery and reconnected it a few minutes later. The car started and ran smooth, however the check engine came back on and coded out to the mass air flow sensor again...
I let the car continue to idle and disconnected the lead at the sensor how the motor would react; it continued to run smooth....I then reinstalled the old air flow sensor and engine continued to run great...So with all this said, car runs great when check engine is on and code is not rest, however, car will not start upon clearing the code and resetting the light......is it safe to assume the computer is going bad and needs to be changed?

I put new cheapest wiper blades from Auto Zone on my 1996 Impala SS when I bought it about 4 months ago. They are both quiet when it is pouring but if the rain is light the driver side wiper stutters like a wounded elephant, but the passenger side wiper is silent. What to do to fix this? Something to put on the windshield? Try a different brand, more expensive wiper?

I have a 96 Impala SS with over 100k. I have a problem with it not starting, it is random as far as time of the day or if its been doing it, I will crank the key and it does nothing, all lights are on but the starter does not engage. I tried moving the shift lever and no luck, until I put it in neutral rock it back and toward and then it will start, I've done this three times in a row and it has started each one.

I drive a 96 Subaru Legacy. What does it mean when one of the high beams is dimmer (less light output) than the low beam? I am using a brand-new bulb. It's not an adjustment issue because I was looking at the bulb when it was outside of the housing and it clearly gets dimmer when you switch to brights. However, they are equally bright when on low-beam, so I don't think its just a crossed wire.

My car is fully stock, with all options available to me (cold weather package not available here). The low-beam triple-LED headlights are aimed way too low compared to all my previous cars, and where they should be. BUT high-beam is aimed properly. So if I adjust the low-beams up, my high-beams might end up lighting up the trees, not the road.
If adjust the headlights up on a fully stock car (not lowered at the front)? Are the high beams still lighting up the road fine? And if you can be specific as the number of turns on the screwdriver, it'd be good too to have an initial adjustment reference.

And probably the worst headlights ive had for intensity out of all cars Ive owned. I took it to the dealer complaining of how dim they are. They adjusted the aim angle up and made them actually worse. Now my high beams just shoot up into the sky
I asked about disabling the "extended Bulb life" setting and they claim not to know anything about it. I am looking at getting aftermarket HIDs and correct angle adjustment to resolve this issue. I just cant believe how bad the OEM headlights are. These headlamps pass NHTSA regulations.?
Other then the Headlamp Complaint, A great family car sofar!

I bought my 2010 Passat 2.0T wagon a couple of months ago. Didn't drive it at dark time so much time, but what I noticed, it looks like headlights don't have asymmetrical beam there.

I own a 2001 Accent 1.6L. The other day both low beam headlights went out. The brights work and so do the parking lights when turned on. I changed the bulbs and still the low beams don't work but the highs and parking lamps do. I looked on the hood for a relay but could find one in the fuse box. I checked the fuses and they appear okay. What could cause the problem? I'm hoping it is not the stalk. Still a relay or switch under the dash?

I bought some new bulbs for the headlights and tried to install them today. I couldn't get the bulb to come out. The manual doesn't really show how to get it out. I know how to take the wire out and that;s about it. How to take the headlight out.

The low beams on my 2010 Sonata seem dim compared to my other vehicles. I do not want to install HID lamps but would like a recommendation for a brighter lamp.

I have a 2012 Prius 4. All of a sudden, the head lights went very dim. We have replaced the bulbs and that did not work. I can only drive at night with brights on (not very popular). Any quick fixes, before i take it to the dealership?

All of a sudden my low beam headlights will not come on; (but the high beams come on using the turn signal switch / high beams position).
I read the Owner's Handbook and there is no Fuse, but it says there is a circuit breaker built-in the headlights switch itself, but that if I wait enough, the breaker will reset itself sooner or later.
It happened for the last two nights and all of a sudden they are working again, but I think I should replace the breaker?? Or should I replace the complete switch?

Do all HID low beam headlights have Xenon in them? Can you buy an HID bulb with no Xenon? Does it matter for my car? I read in some places HID and Xenon go together then I read elsewhere you can buy HID bulbs with no Xenon?

2012 Prius mdl 2 I notice my left low beam had gone out I went to get a replacement bulb The first one seemed dim, so I got a brighter one that wasn't much better I figure I would go to the dealer and get one of theirs I put it in and brighter, but it cast no real beam I pointed the car at a flat wall, and the right side is normal, the left side is not correct and I noticed there is a small beam pointed to the left The small bit of light that does go forward does cast a faint rectangular image on the wall and it does match where it should line up similar to the right side I cant think what has caused the beam to be all messed up No damage or stuff like that.

I purchased a 2010 about a year ago and have replaced the low beams twice. Any issues with them or any other possible cause?

Last week I smelled something burning when I arrived home. I looked around the car and did not see any smoke. I noticed the other night that I had no headlights (low or hi beam) The fog light work fine. No fuses are out.

I have a 2008 Hyundai Santa fe and have recently had both low beam headlights go out. The running lights and high beams still both work. I read both bulbs as sat 0.5ohm(left) and 0.5ohm(right). Connections were right. I also read fuses in engine compartment HLP LO for both RH and LH. Still I swapped them both with the HHP HI and both worked for high beams but no change for low,on,either side. My next idea is the switch but I am not sure how to test it.
