Hyundai - Elantra :: Clicking Noise From Door Area
May 13, 2013
I have been experiencing a crazy problem, my vehicle makes clicking noises from door area, this happens when car is moving or sitting. when i left my car parked for two days the car would not start. My mechanic thinks the door function is acting up and had a remote at one time on this vehicle, for which I don't have now. I just use key to open the door, he will remove door function and clicking should stop. and stop draining battery.

2011 Hyundai Elantra, 42k miles. The car is my girlfriends which I drive once every few weeks. Yesterday I noticed a rumbling noise coming from the right front tire area. The noise only comes about when turning a fairly sharp left while above 20 mph. Taking a left onto a side street etc doesn't cause any noise, but taking one while going through a big intersection etc. Where the speed is up a little bit causes the noise. The tires are original, obviously not new, but they still have a decent amount of tread left on them, they're Continental Pro Contacts.
Tire, ball-joint, brake pad rubbings? I'm going to take it to get looked at tomorrow, I did spray the area with a hose in case there was something caught in there, but that didn't change anything. The tire looks fine, no abnormal wear or bulges, the car is in alignment and makes no other noise except in the circumstance noted.

So after I start my car in the morning (it's garaged in AZ, probably 60 degrees) about 1 minute after leaving the house there is a real odd noise in the back passenger side of the car. It almost sounds like it's coming from the fuel door area.
Click Click Click Click pause Click Click.
Click Click Click Click pause Click Click
Click Click Click Click pause Click Click
Happens for about 45 seconds, and then it's gone and doesn't happen again. It's not correlated to the engine speed or whether the car is moving or not.

I think that one of them is coming from the passenger door. It is more of a clicking sound kind of, than a rattle. Maybe as if the door panel isn't tightly attached so it moves back and forth a little and clicks.
The other rattle is from the cupholder area.
I took this car to my dealer and they fixed another rattle from the passenger door (claimed it was a screw in the speaker that had fallen out?), but it was replaced by this new clicking rattle. They also claimed they did something to the cupholder to fix it, but it didn't work.
My question is, how the door panels are attached to the car? I was thinking that if it is attached by a few screws I will try tightening those up myself before I go back to the dealer. It would be great if it was just attached too loosely and I could fix it myself.

I have a 2012 Hyundai Elantra and I have had it for almost a year. Its been snowing here in Tennessee. I went to start my car and wont start. All the lights come on, radio, etc.I have tried jumping the car and wont work, even tried changing out battery. Not sure if theres any known issues going on or if it has to do with it being cold.

There is a medium sounding clicking coming from the gear selector area. I understand this must be the mechanism that prevents you from accidentally going into reverse when you are driving. However, the sound really is irritating and the car did not used to do this. I have taken it to the dealer, which states it is normal and there is nothing to fix. I have been doing some research online and it appears an easy fix is to just grease it back up. It appears over time the grease comes off or something. That being said, how do I get the initial gray plate off? (see picture)

My 2008 Hyundai Elantra likes to play KeepAway.
The driver's door randomly locks itself when I get out of the car. Just the driver's door. I have learned either to make sure the others are unlocked or to take my keys with me, even if it's just to pump gas.
Might this be some easily replaceable or resettable circuitry, or do I just have to live with it?

I always have humidity marks on the black portion of my interior door handle area and it seems like the water that gets in the door doesn't flow out completely. It kinda pools at the bottom in between the 3 small holes at the inside bottom of the door. The drain holes are clean but it seems there is a lip the water gets caught on.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited and have noticed a rattle in the front driver's door area near the Dash. It's hard to pinpoint where exactly it is coming from. The rattle can be heard even on smoothish roads and sounds like a little screw or something else is loose or rubbing against something. I checked that sunglasses holder and made sure nothing was in there but the rattle is still there.

So I pulled the trigger and got my B5 a little brother... found an awesome 07 4mo wagon sport package with all the bells and whistles with low miles and at a great price. I just couldn't resist. So far I'm loving the car and the extra ~50% hp over the old 30V
I did notice some very noticeable clicking noise in the dash area. It seems to be related to the Climatronic moving flaps around to change air distribution. At random times it starts clicking (kind of a relay sound) a few times in a row and then stops or sometimes it continues clicking in different patterns. When I press the off button on the Climatronic controls it stops immediately.
I'm kinda thinking that it's probably the normal way Climatronic works in this model but it I'm not 100% sure (and the 2001 was silent in that regard) so I want to make sure that it's not something abnormal (like a flap sticking and the sounds I hear is the system trying to flip it a few times before giving up).
Is the clicking normal or should I have the dealer take a look at it? I'll probably take it in soon anyway to get an alignment (car doesn't pull to the side & tires look evenly worn but the steering wheel is about 5 degrees (rough guess) to the right when going straight.
Anything else I need to look out for with this car? It has about 35k miles and all services so far have been done (incl. oil changes every 5k). No open recalls besides a "silent" service action related to the battery cable or something like that (according to the dealer where the car had been services - I called them up before I bought it). There was no major repair work done to the car like the dreaded oil pump bolt issue. Would that even be a concern for an 07 (car was built in Feb 07)?

2001.5 Passat 1.8t auto 98k.
It sounds as though I have a relay in the relay panel behind the headlight switch clicking on and off while I am driving. I searched the archives a bit and through my own reasoning, I figured it is not related to the hazard switch or turn signal stock ( I could be wrong though).
Description: It only clicks while I have my foot on the accelerator and the car is in motion, never other wise. It is not dependent on throttle location; it clicks the same way regardless of where the throttle is as long as it's being pressed. The clicking stops completely when the throttle is not being pressed.
Because of this, I am unable to locate the exact relay that is making the noise as it is impossible for me to open the door and look at the relay panel while driving. The clicking is some what erratic; It will click, pause for 2-4seconds click again then wait anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds and repeat. It's driving me nuts. Evap? Is this normal? Can it be stopped?

Started happening yesterday evening, it went on for like 15 minutes then gone then came back again. Not sure if this do anything, it happened after we changed the car battery few hours before we drove the car again.
It made noise even when the engine is not running, so the second i put the key in....that noise came up.

I have a 2003 Prius and replaced one of the failing batteries in my HV battery pack in hope that would fix the car. It now will not start, with the battery installed, and I have a p3030 code being thrown. Also, after sitting for a night, the main display goes black and has 'waves' in it when it does show. When I turn the switch on there's a clicking noise coming from the area around the battery.

I have an 05 accent and about 6 months ago I started to notice a clicking sound coming from the belts area ( it sounds exactly like a BBQ grill igniter when it's pressed), the sound starts as soon as I start the car and stays pretty much the whole time, I had the car lifted by my mechanic and he discovered the problem in one of the belts ( not sure what is called but it's the one at the very bottom of the belts, the first one you see when you lift the car ), the spark is seen at the edge of the pulley or where the belt sits on the pulley. The mechanic was puzzled about this, he recommended replacing the crank sensor as a first step, the car runs fine and there is no other symptoms or issues

So about 6 months ago I got new brakes on my car (2009 Hyundai Elantra). It was done by a independent repair shop. A few weeks later the brakes started making really weird noises, so I took it back to the shop and they took a look at them and they said everything seemed to be fine. So the next couple weeks there was no noise, but after a month or so the same thing happened again, I took them back to the shop they said everything looked fine and the noise stopped once again, but after a couple months later this happened again! and its been frustrating.
So when I took it to the dealership for oil change, I asked the guy to check the brakes for me and he said everything looked good, but if I had them changed in an independent repair shop they probably put generic ones which don't have some kind of lubricant that keeps them from making noises, that this happens sometimes, and if I wanted to fix it, new brakes had to be installed and they need to be the dealership brand which is for Hyundai cars. How true is this? I'm very naive when it comes to cars so I don't know whats going on.

I have a '98 Suburban 4WD, last week I started hearing a clicking noise when I go in reverse. Sounds like it is coming from the rear axle area. I don't hear the sound when going forward.

I have the annoying "clicking noise" with my certified used 2008 Avalon XLS. It only occurs after the car has been sleeping overnight or after five hours or so of not the running. So this is normal according to two dealers and that I need to watch it but it isn't an issue- normal. Still, it does not leave me feeling good about it. The car has 56k miles and it is smooth, quiet and responsive, just that "ticking". It does go away after 15 minutes or so of driving. They told me why it's happening and I found some answers here, on the forum.
My question is- will it get worse? Will Toyota only address it when the "ticking" gets loud and does not go away and I'm pushing smoke from the tail pipes?
I've been reading up on the LSC 90K recall with the defective VVT-i oil line. How can I find out if my Avalon has had the oil line replaced? Just a bit confused about if any records should exist for this and where I can find out.

I have an 04 WRX, I've upgraded the suspension (1.5" - 1.75" drop front and back respectfully) and have a full set up of strut tower braces. Recently when accelerating from a stop, I get a clicking noise from the passenger front wheel area, I hear it all the way through first, second, and most of third...the sound is probably present after that but my exhaust drowns it out. My first choice of problem is that the CVs have gone, the car has 140k on it...

For the past few weeks, I've noticed am occasional humming noise while driving. It seems to happen more frequently at lower speeds (around 15-30 mph, though it has also happened at around 45 mph), and it stops as soon as I apply the break. Turning the A/C on and off does not appear to have an effect, nor does opening/closing the windows (in case the humming noise was just air at a certain vibration), nor does the radio.
I took it to a mechanic, but it didn't happen when he drove it around the block, so he said that it's probably due to tire pressure imbalance, adjusted the pressures, and told me to bring it back if it happens again.
What this is, or what other things I should look for?

I'm driving Hyundai Elantra 2005 (manual transmission). When the car slows down (no gas pedal, no brake), it makes metallic noise on the right side. It mostly happens when RPM is between 1,500-2,000. When I press the clutch pedal, the noise disappears immediately. I brought the car to a local mechanic once, but he could not figure it out.
