I purchased a 2008 Honda CRV less than a month ago and felt it shaking every time it hit a bump in the road. Took i back to the dealer and he said strut and sway bar need replacing (it has 77,000 miles on it) and they weren't going to pay for that to be repaired.

I took the car into the dealership to check an odd noise that comes from the front of the car every time I pass over speed bump or road holes.
They say I have to replace the steering rack. Can it be fixed or have to be changed anyway?
At 60 mph + and on a smooth road, this 2008 CR-V presents with what seems to be an out of balance issue. You can feel it bumping when it reaches this speed and beyond. The car just turned 100k, had four new tires about a year and a half ago, but when this began occurring (and it was pulling to one side), the dealership recommended two new front tires due to something they couldn't pinpoint as to why the tires were wearing as they were. Replacing them fixed the pulling to one side problem but did not correct the bumping problem. The car has never been in an accident or been driven over a curb/bank, etc., is driven by the same person, has always been maintained at the same Honda dealership. It has been to them 3 times is about to go back for the fourth time. Could it be a bearing? An axel problem? Bad replacement tires?

View 2 RepliesI have a 2008 Honda Fit Manual with 128000 kms on it. Its been a great car but I've had a recurring issue with getting the shifter into reverse ever since I bought the car - numerous techs have looked at it over the past 6 years and "nothing is wrong". I digress, the problem is that I have a heck of a time getting the car into reverse sometimes, not all the time but fairly consistently. I have the clutch all the way in, I'm certainly not grinding the gears or anything. It happens in hot, mild and cold weather, damp and dry, on an incline, not on an incline....I think you may get the picture. The only thing I can do to successfully get the car into reverse is to put the shifter into first gear, let the clutch out slowly and then attempt reverse again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't - this trick is something the dealership mentioned to me.
I've been driving manual transmissions for over 20 years - Volvo, GM, Toyota, Subaru, BMW & some lovely Italians but I have never experienced this type of issue before and in my experience of driving I certainly do not consider this to be normal. Although the dealership has investigated and advised me that this is indeed within the realm of reasonable.

In the mornings, when I start it, it shakes & makes a hollow shaking noise in the engine compartment. This noise is normally more noticeable after having it parked overnight or not driving it for a few hours. The shaking noise is more pronounced after being parked overnight, starting it, & also putting it in reverse. After driving it for 30min, the noise & shaking stops.
Having rattles in the dash when going over bump in the road.

I recently went over a speed bump in the road and the car made an awful clunk sound sort of like the strut reached the end of its length reach. The car continued to make this klunk sound when I'd go over smaller bumps just not as loud. What this could be and how to remedy it?

Car only has 22k miles on it so this is way too early for any noises to be coming up. I've spoken to a few friends and they think it might be the bushings or my suspension was installed incorrectly. View 20 RepliesMy 2012 Elantra with 10,000 km sounded like the rear suspension was bottoming out with a loud clunk whenever I went over a bad bump or heave in the road. It was the right rear shock, which was replaced under warranty. The car handled well so it wasn't as if the damping had disappeared. About 500 km later the left rear shock had to be replaced under warranty as the loud clunking as if the suspension was bottoming out returned. I'm not sure of the shock manufacturer Hyundai is using, but they obviously had/have a quality control problem or the shocks just aren't up to the job. I live in the country and drive a lot of secondary roads, but have never had shocks go like this before. Something in the internal hydraulic value circuit is going wrong.

This winter started having trouble when driving car - occasionally when I hit a bump in the road the radio and wipers cut off and if I pull over and restart the car they will come back on. My mechanic thought it was due to a loose battery cable and he tightened it up but, it is still happening. Also noted - when starting occasionally I hear a e-e-e-rk sound (I think the ignition) and if I turn key to off and try again it usually starts - sometimes it takes 2-3 tries. View 14 RepliesI have a 2005 camry, 25k miles on it. I notice that when I go over a bump road or potholes and try to break at the same time, the brake would rattle and it's like it get stuck. The brake pedal would respond the same way, I would press down on it but it will resist my foot pushing down on it. I could still brake but it's not as responsive. Also lately, 3 times in the last 2 months my car won;t start on the first try.

How different could it be? I hate the new one. It is extremely uncomfortable for me in the passenger seat. Less so in the driver's seat, which is height adjustable, but still a problem for me due to physical issues.

My wife and I bought a 2014 Elantra with 30,000 miles on it. This is our first Hyundai and the car runs great, but the only issue I have is that whenever I go over a large bump in the road, the front suspension clunks and feels like it's coming apart. Smaller bumps or imperfections in the road are okay and the car runs smoothly over those, but the larger bumps and potholes produce an unreassuring clunk.
We've never owned a Hyundai before and we really like the car, but I was wondering if this is normal for the Elantra and if others experience this. I brought the car to the dealer and they checked everything out. They said all was fine and that it was normal. Is it?
I have noticed a serious bump steer or a violent jerking action when hitting a bump in the road. Just over a year ago I replaced ball joints,tie rods, sway bar links (2nd set since cutting off original). I used MOOG components. I was shocked to see the sway bar links loose once again. Is there a certain way to tighten them or is there a better product available. Mostly stock 1999 'ploder with fire wires and scremin demon coil pack.
