Honda - Cr-v :: 1999 - Vibrating Noise In The Rear End When Turning

Feb 13, 2012

I have a honda crv 1999. There is a vibrating noise in the rear end every time I turn. I have had this problem for a couple of years. The reason I have'nt done anything about it was that my mechanic said it was an annoying noise but not dangerous...that he'd seen this in this type of vehicle many times. As it turns out my young neighbor has recently gone to school and become a honda mechanic so I asked him. He said that it was a simple fix...that I just had to change the differential fluid. When I told this to my mechanic he insisted that changing the differential fluid was a bad idea...that it might create problems that I don't have. My mechanic has always done well by me but the noise is scary. What should I do?

Civic - Honda :: 2005 - Vibrating Noise That Sounds Like Going Over A Washboard

My wife's 05 Honda Civic with 105,00 miles on it is making a vibrating noise that sounds like going over a washboard. It seems to come from the right front of the car and only happens between 35 and 45 mph. We have been to 2 different repairs shops and replaced the bearings, struts, shocks, axles brakes, tires and engine mounts.. I' spent $ on this car and still haven't fixed the problem. My wife is starting to look at new cars ....

Silverado :: 1999 - Loud Popping / Clanking / Knocking Noise Comes From The Rear Of Truck While Turning

More times than not now, when making a sharp left turn and sometimes a left turn in general, a loud popping/clanking/knocking noise comes from the rear of my truck. I can feel it in the steering when it's about to do it. The steering wheel will become stiff when turning left and when I straighten up it will pull to the right (just got the truck aligned so I don't think that's a problem). Rear left tire will spin like its struggling to spin. After all that I can make a hard turn right and "pop" everything will seem to go back to normal. 1999 Silverado Z71 5.3l ....

Touareg :: Vibrating When Turning At Slow Speed?

So, I just noticed this happening about a month ago and it's been occurring more frequently. Whenever I'm turning (left or right) and moving at a very slow speed (1 - 5mph), I feel a binding and sometimes I hear a slipping sound (that's the best that I can describe it). When I hear this sound, it feels like the Touareg's gears or center differential is slipping. What it is? If so, was the dealer able to resolve it quickly?

Whenever I make a sharp (think turning into driveway) turn left or right, my car makes a knocking noise. Not a clicking, but I recreated the noise by knocking 2 plastic cups together. 2012 Honda Civic LX.

Civic - Honda :: 2010 - Squealing Noise While Accelerating And Turning

I have a 2010 Honda Civic with about 67,000 kms. There's a mechanical squealing noise that's started over the last week when I accelerate and turn. It's coming from all 4 wheel areas. It only seems to disappear when I brake. Although if I run/accelerate the car for longer than 5 mins, it disappears as well. Additionally, there's a stretching/groaning noise from the tire area when I reverse. I'm thinking it's probably shock or suspension related.

Civic - Honda :: 2001 - Strange Noise When Turning In 1st And 2nd Gear

I have a 2001 Honda civic. Great car, so far. I need to replace the catalytic converter, however I just passed smog shortly prior to the cc going out so I've been putting it off (bad, I know).

When I drive in the lower gears, 1st and 2nd, the car makes a much louder than normal ggggrrrrrrr sound. Don't know quite how to describe it. Especially when turning corners.

Do I need a new transmission? Does my needing to replace the catalytic converter have anything to do with this?

Civic - Honda :: Vibrating At 60 Mph

1997 Civic HX, runs great, no motor issue....more like driveline.....Recently picked up a vibration, it just got much worse. My thought is there's a bad CV joint, but I can't find much play.....Was vibrating at 60mph, let of the gas & it goes away.....now, vibrates from the word go as if somethings out of round, if I coast, I now get a thunk/thunk/thunk until I ease back on the gas, then it vibrates. Braking.....out of gear...thunk/thunk/thunk hardcore, braking while in gear I get nothing but less vibes.....Steering wheel does not shake, 4 brand new tires, brakes seem fine.......CV JOINT?? or Something internal?

I put a camera down there and saw that when there was noise, the front driveshaft and front left halfshaft were spinning. When they stopped spinning on their own, the noise stopped. Honda Odyssey :: 2010 EXL - Whining Noise When Turning Steering Wheel

My 2010 Honda Odyssey EXL recently began making a whining noise that seems worse when turning the steering wheel. When in the shop for routine maintenance a few weeks ago they noted a leaking power steering suction hose although at the time it was not making any noise. Is this a likely cause? Unsure what it was I tried spraying belt dressing on the serpentine belt and it seemed to work. There was no whining for a couple days. Now it's back.

Civic - Honda :: 1999 - Engine Shut Off Within A Minute Of Turning The Car On

I have a 1999 honda civic that has had an issue with randomly shutting off lately. It always happens within a minute of me turning the car on and I usually have to wait several minutes before the car will crank again. When it does the engine shuts off and all lights immediately go off. Once I finally do get the car to crank its hit or miss if it will stay running, but if it makes it through the first minute or so its usually golden. Its like it has to have a perfect connection or something or it wont stay on. The only suggestion I've had from someone is possibly the ignition being bad.

Honda - Cr-v :: 2004 - Making Clicking Noise When Turning Hard Left / Right At Low Speeds

I have a 2004 Honda CR-V, 100k, just did its 90k maintenance (a little late) and also had the ball joints replaced. Brought back from the mechanic and heard clicking sound when turning wheel hard left or hard right, only at low speeds, usually when parallel parking or simply sitting in park, turning wheel back and forth. Right back to the mechanic: they checked it out, re-lubricated everything, drove it, said it was OK. I got it home, still clicking. Safe to drive this weekend? It's back to the shop on Monday.

Honda - Odyssey :: 2010 - Vibrating While Braking At About 60 Mph

I have a 2010 Honda Odyssey with 71,000 miles on it. It was vibrating while breaking at about 60 mph so we went to a Sears Auto shop. They did a disc rotor refinishing and installed new brake hardware. The vibration continued and I went to Sears again and he assessed the problem and he said that rear brake rotors had to be installed. He asked me to bring it in tomorrow as he did not have the part. Honda - Pilot :: 2007 - Rotational Noise From Front Passenger Wheel When Turning Left

I have a 2007 Honda Pilot. 65K Miles.

Several months ago, when turning left, regardless of speed, my wife starting hearing a noise. It is not a knocking or harsh grinding noise, but a low grumble (I don't have a great word for it). It's definitely rotational, it doesn't get any louder as speed increases, but it obviously happens more often. It seems to come from the right side of the car, I originally thought it was from the wheel, but just now I had it jacked up and had a neighbor who works on cars look at it with me and now I'm not so sure.

When I described the problem to him, he first thought it was a CV joint, or possibly ball bearing. After a few minutes looking under the hood, he quickly ruled those out. Boots were in great condition, and he remarked that everything seems to be very solid around the wheel.

I thought that noise was a result of weight shift to the right side of the vehicle when making right-hand turns, but we had the car up on two jacks stands placed on the jack braces, turned the car on and gave it some gas with the wheels turned left, and you can definitely hear the noise with zero weight on the wheels or axles. When you straighten the wheel, the noise subsides.

Honda Accord :: 2007 - Vibrating When Accelerate Between Speeds Of 50 To 65 Mph

My 2007, Honda Accord, 6-speed manual, 6 cylinder EX Coupe vibrates when I accelerate between the speeds of approx. 50-65 mph and then smooths out above that speed. Slightly higher when going uphill.

It only happens when accelerating and not if I'm just cruising without applying the power. My wheels and tires have been checked for balance and are in good shape. No bent rims, tires are in balance.

Honda - Odyssey :: 2002 Has Intermittent Vibrating Shudder

Our 2002 Honda Odyssey (158k miles) occasionally has a mild but definite shuddering/shake when I am going up a small grade. For example, I might be at a stop sign. Upon accelerating up a small grade (0 - 25 mph) the vehicle experiences a shuddering of some sort - hard to explain. It is not anything in the steering wheel - it is the vehicle itself. Not being a mechanic or anything, I want to say it almost feels as if the drive system is out of alignment and is vibrating until the moving parts align again. A broken engine mount??? It is front wheel drive - so no drive shaft and u-joints. CV Joints bad?

We've asked several mechanics - one a Honda certified technician - and nothing suspicious was found.
