I have a 1991 Jimmy (the little one) and the odometer and trip are not working. The speedo works fine. I replaced the entire instrument cluster and the problem is not fixed. Made sure the new odometer motor turned freely. Checked all circuits and traced the electrical connections plus cleaned all the contact points.
View 3 RepliesI have a 1997 f150 4.6L 4x4 Standard Transmission and today I hopped in it to go to work, and the Speedo, Trip Odometer, and Odometer all are not working.
This is the first time it has happened to me, what could cause this or have a problem similar to this and know how to fix it?
I have a 1999 GMC Jimmy. Today I rolled my power front passenger window down and it's still there. Main Control panel on driver side won't roll it back up and passenger switch won't roll it up either. All other windows and locks work fine and I do not hear anything when trying to roll the window up. Does this automatically mean the motor just went out all of a sudden?

View 1 RepliesMy speed odometer just stopped working along with the trip meter, while I was driving down the Interstate. I noticed no warning signs regarding this failure. Strange all other indications seem to work just fine on my cluster.

View 1 RepliesI drive a 2001 Buick Century. Sometime last month (or maybe the month before), my digital odometer was on the fritz. There's a little sub-partition to my dash that houses my digital odometer as well as the indication as to what gear i'm in (PRND32). So it started fading a little, then on some days it wouldn't light up at all. I know the odometer is still working, because on the days when it would light up, it didn't pick up where it left off, rather it had been working the whole time I couldn't see it. And this started going in and out more and more frequently until now it hasn't lit up in about a month.
So, i take my car into my mechanic for an oil change (just had to guess at how close i was to 3,000 miles) and I ask him about it. He tells me that it'd cost so much in time and parts that I might as well not even fix it.
So now what? I'm fine just driving around without it. I know what gear I'm in without my car having to tell me, and I guess I can just estimate when to get my oil changed, although it's rather inconvenient. But what do I do when I want to sell it or trade it in? The longer I go without knowing my mileage, the farther afield an estimate will be.
You know, what I was thinking is that I really just need someone to run a red light and total my car. Then insurance would cover me and the odometer would be low on my list of worries. I just hope the airbags still work...
I bought a 2006 Sonata V4 with 106k miles on it 2 days ago from a dealer and everything worked fine. When I got out of school yesterday the speedometer would stay at 0 and the fuel gauge has been fluctuating a bit. Also the odometer is no longer working. Shortly after this the ECS and ABS lights came on. I've read that this could be the speedo sensor but not sure.

The picture attached is a picture of the sensor. What this sensor is called? Whenever I look up speed sensor or speedometer sensor it shows me something completely different. This one looks like it connects to the transmission too.
On my Accent I'm having problems with the speedometer. Speedometer stopped working with the odometer as well. My temp gauge and gas gauge work fine. Check engine light came on, gave code p0501 which is the speed sensor. Just had Firestone replace it but it didn't fix the problem.
He gave me two conflicting things. He said that when he span the gears at the end of the cable there was nothing going on at the speedometer.
But then he said that the cable wasn't making contact with whatever it needs to in the transmission. So he said it was something in the transmission.
My problem with that is, if it was something in the transmission, shouldn't the speedometer have moved when he span the end of the cable with his hand? What else could it be?
So my speedometer and odometer have stopped working on my subaru......I cannot find where the speed sensor is and I was wondering if this was something I could replace? I've changed an alternator before and feel comfortable messing with my car. Where it is exactly on a Subaru Impreza Outback Sport 1997?

View 8 RepliesI have a 2002 Prius, and I have been struggling trying to get it fix. But it's either one thing to the next without completely knowing what's what. Recently, the right front bearing and the left rear bearing, both front struts/shocks, right balljoint, and two front brakes were replaced.
Before these replacements, I had a P1436 code for the valve which was lube but nothing happened. Then after replacing the front struts/shocks, turn the car on for a test drive, brake light and check engine light came on, speed odometer it not working. I used the OBII scanner from autozone and got P0500 said: vehicle speed sensor A malfunction.
Grand am is a 4cly 4speed trans. My daughter is off to school. She called and told me her speed odometer is not working. She also mentioned that it is not shifting properly if at all. Is the speed odometer operated by cable? Would the two be related to the transmission going bad?
View 4 RepliesI clearly have some kind of electrical issue. The odometer and speedometer are no longer visible, the digital display on the clock/radio is barely visible (brightness varies day to day) and the abs light is always on. Now the check engine light is always on. I have to be somewhere around 200,000 miles and other than this the car has been a champ! I had Auto Zone check fuses and run a scan but they couldn't detect the problem. One suggestion I was given was input/output sensors.

The dash cluster lights up, warning lights flash on at start up just no indication of speed, fuel level, tach, or temp.
Fuse is good & has power to it. I re-seated all the connectors under the dash. No luck.
My speedometer decided to quit working this morning. The odometer is lit up but its not adding miles as I drive.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata SE XM (153K miles). The speedometer and odometer have quit working completely. The speedometer doesn't even move from zero, no bouncing around or anything. The odometer also is not logging miles. My transmission shifts gears just fine and the cruise control works as well. I bought an OBD-II scanner and no codes came up. My first thought was maybe the vehicle speed sensor, but everything I've found on that say the car will shift poorly and the speedometer bounces around.
View 4 RepliesWe have a 2013 Nissan Sentra that has been having some issues with the gas gauge not working but normally if we shut the car off and turn it back on it resets. Recently though we had a flat tire on the passenger front side. My husband took the car with a spare tire to a local tire shop and had them replace the flat. Directly following the change of the tire the odometer and speedometer stopped working completely, though the tachometer is fine. Also, the tire inflation, traction control, abs brake & engine warning lights are all on now.

Odometer display quit on me. This is the co.pass and temp as well. I have also noticed that when I come to a complete stop and then take off a again, the auto lock feature activates like I had put it in park and then back to drive. Thinking I could have an electrical issue here.
