I have a 96 geo prizm and there is a leak coming from one of the tubes. the tube is under the power steering fluid tubes on the right side of the engine. Don't know if it is oil or transmission fluid. Also it made the check engine light come on...

View 6 RepliesI got a 97 F250 4x4 w/ 4.6 lt. motor & auto trans. The engine is leaking oil. It looks to be coming from a set of hoses that are on the adaptor that is between the oil filter & the engine block. Also what are the oil lines called? It is leaking motor oil not transmission oil.
Also just pulled my oil dip stick & the whole thing (dip stick & the tube) came off the truck. Seems the tube has rotted away at the oil pan. Is this also a job I can do?
I have a 2006 with 15,000 miles and I have noticed under the front of the car on the passenger side there is some type of oil or fluid leaking. Its not leaking on the ground leaving a puddle its some type of build up. What could it be from? When in service for oil changes service never noticed anything. I am due for 15,000 oil change and want to have it checked.

View 6 RepliesBought a 98 last week and noticed an issue a couple of days ago. The car seems to be leaking power steering fluid from right in front of passenger front tire. Looks like it's coming down from somewhere behind the bumper, just not sure what line are over there. I had to replace one of the clamps on the line below the ps bottle and it seemed to be fine for 2 days.
The weird part is that it doesn't seem steady. I had the car parked in one spot for an hour the first time I noticed the problem and the wet spot was about a foot in diameter. But then I drove the car last night and left it parked in the driveway for hours and nothing. This morning when I was leaving there was a puddle about 4" in diameter.
Leaking red fluid near tire on drivers side. Mostly when AC is running. 2 mechanics have looked and cannot stop it. Has 108,000 miles n does use coolant when AC is running.
View 7 RepliesI've currently have 114,000 miles on this Pontiac Bonneville and I replaced the intake manifold last summer. Recently, I have been having issues with the intake manifold leaking a fluid on the right side of it (facing the engine) and been having dirt or some other type of fluid mixing in my fluid tank. The leak has been causing some smoking issues. Also, when I start the car in the morning white smoke comes out of the back of it. Where I need to start so that I can get this fixed. I'm assuming something went wrong in the replacement.

View 2 RepliesIts been awhile since I have been on. Everything has been running great for me until I found my passenger side front axle leaking fluid. I'm sure something has been posted on here but I have limited access to internet right now and need to know what I am getting into to change the seals. From what I have found there is an inner seal in the pumpkin and then an outer seal and dust cover. Are both of these easy to change? Are there any special tools needed? Do I need to remove the gears in the pumpkin? If so, is this difficult and any special tools required for this?
Mine is a 2001 V10-6.8, 4x4 no mods at this point.

View 13 RepliesRecently I took my 2006 Subaru Outback wagon on a trip in the mountains. I parked my car in the driveway overnight and noticed oily fluid on all of the tiresand on the ground in the morning. The fluid spill was worse on the driver's side front and rear tires, but was noticeable on the passenger side as well. I did not notice an odor to it. I used the brakes alot on the way back down from the mountains..... I have taken this car places where I have used the brakes a whole lot but have not noticed this before. How bad is this? Is it possibly "normal?
View 5 RepliesSo I had a stuck caliper on the driver rear side. I pushed the piston back and checked everything to make sure all was in working order. After some though and reading about the calipers getting stuck which old brake lines, I decided to upgrade the line with the Russell stainless steal lines.
I got all the lines put in but I seem to have fluid leaking on the passenger side fitting which I can't seem to get to stop. I put the old line back in but it is still leaking. I am not sure what I need to do or check to get it to stop. It seems to be leaking from the thread area. I checked the fittings and they don't look cross threaded so I don't understand why it may be happening.
Looks like my car started to leak fluid from somewhere near the front of the engine bay yesterday.
I noticed a fairly large spot under my car after work yesterday. Today I parked in a different lot and work and sure enough, there was another wet spot under the car tonight.
Seems to be near the front of the engine bay. I can see any leaks from the tip and the car runs fine so far.
Whatever is leaking out seems to be more or less clear an oily. The engine oil has about 7000 miles on it, so I would expect that to be darker.
Car is a 2010 MK6 GTI w/DSG - about 27k miles on the clock.
Some extra info: My commute to work is about 35 miles one way and i didn't see a wet spot in my garage this morning. Seems like whatever leaked out came out after my short lunch break drive yesterday and then again after lunch today - but not after the 35 mile Hwy drive home.
My front differential on my 97 Silverado Z71 sometimes vents some fluid out of the vent tube. I end up smelling it in the interior while driving. The vent tube top is above the top of the radiator and has the little cap on it. The first time it did it, was during a heavy rain. I had it in 4wd on the freeway doing around 60-70 mph. I figured it was because I was in 4wd. It did it yesterday after a 35 mile drive on the freeway again, but I was in 2wd the whole time. Outside air temp was over 100 degrees and I am using Royal Purple fluid. I checked the level a couple of weeks ago and it was below the fill plug about 1/2 inch.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 F350 XL Heavy Duty 6.0L truck that has 68,XXX miles. I recently changed the rear brake pads and about a week later the rear passenger side is leaking brake fluid. The fluid is slowly dripping from the bottom caliper bolt but i am not sure if there are seals in this area. the driver side is fine and the fluid is only leaking from the bottom caliper bolt not the top.
View 2 RepliesI was pulling a motorcycle trailer down the interstate about 75 mph for about 4 hours. When we got home I noticed it looked like there had been an oil leak. I looked underneath and it appears like tranny fluid spewed out of the top vent tube on the tranny. I have a 4x4 with a Automatic overdrive. It was tranny fluid and it does not appear that it was low on the stick when I checked it. We were pulling some hills and it would downshift but it seemed to be working fine. Seems to still work ok. We had the tranny rebuilt about 50,000 miles ago.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2010 camry se 2.5l (2ar-fe). I replaced spark plugs and found oil in #4. It was on plug not in cylinder. There is a little oil at bottom of spark plug tube. My guess is there is a gasket/seal at bottom of spark plug tube. Am I correct? How to replace?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 Sonata SE without about 41K on it. I got the oil changed back in May, and a few weeks after I discovered that it was leaking. I took it back to the oil change place and they ensured me that they cleaned up the mess they may have left behind. A month or two later, I believe the engine is still leaking. I've cleaned up two significantly huge puddles of oil, yet the dipstick says the oil level is right below the dot under the full mark. I checked to see if the oil filter was dirty, meaning the leak would come from there if the wrong filter was installed. The oil filter is clean.
There is also a clear fluid leaking out of the engine now too. I thought it was water, but it has a bitter taste to it. It may be the air conditioner, but it has never once spit out water like this since purchasing the car new in October of 2013.
My engine also gets hot much quicker than it ever did before. I can move the car a few feet after starting it up and it will go one notch below halfway on the temperature gauge. It has never exceeded this temperature, but it sure gets there quicker now after this oil issue began. I can also tell when the car is feeling a little sluggish in terms of acceleration, and right now, it's certainly feeling sluggish. The 2.4L isn't as peppy as it usually is.
Another month and another problem to be resolved. Here goes: The 2001 Passat 1.8T has had a hard life in the past year. The specifics are listed in previous posts. Most recently, the radiator was replaced because the engine was overheating again. The car has been leaking fluid ever since but it is not radiator fluid. Yesterday, I took a look at the oil and found tan gunk mixed in with the oil. I must admit that I had concerns after the fact about the shop that did the last oil change. Is it possible for mechanic to screw up the head gasket while replacing the radiator? It was fine before the repair. Is there another source to look for the seepage into the oil? Basically, the question is - Is the car destined for the graveyard because of this?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2004 f150 4x4 with a 5.4. i have been leaking some fluid for a few months now but when i check oil and transmission both fluid levels are fine. I crawled under and it looks like something is leaking near engine and trans meeting and fluid looks reddish making me think its trans. now this week I developed a whining sound when truck moves. Again I rechecked oil and trans fluid levels and are all good. i was going to check transfer case but it is way behind leak and dry.
