Recently my 2007 Ford Focus had its service engine light come up. In addition, a couple times the overdrive light has flashed orange, during which time the overdrive is not engaging for the car. Everything else with the car seems normal, just no overdrive. I imagine the problem is electronic, what might be at fault?
View 4 RepliesJust today, my '05 Ford Focus began flashing in orange it's O/D Off light. It seems to only happen when I am going over 40mph between 1800 and 2000 rpms. The light flashes for no specific amount of time and doesn't come on at specific intervals. I have also noticed that the car is shifting (it's an automatic) in this RPM range as well. I am worried because I just moved to a new area and am unfamiliar with the automotive services in this area. Another interesting thing that has happened along with this problem is that prior to this, my oil light had been coming on periodically. When I had that checked out they told me it was the oil pressure sensor. However, now that light hasn't gone on and I haven't had that replaced. Am I looking at a lot of trouble ahead with this car?
View 6 RepliesI have a 1996 ford taurus dohc v6 147239 miles..when i get over 60 mph my overdrive light starts flashing and the car still drives find..i did have new transmission fluid and new fillter put in and the light was coming on before i did that and still comes on when i get over 60 mph.

I would like to know where the TSS is located and then see if it has corrosion other reason not to connect.
I got this code and symptoms of 1-2 hard shift and no torque converter lockup. No flashing overdrive light on shifter. If I switch off engine all shifts are smooth until I pass 45mph. I would feel the TCC lockup. This doesn't happen the as i come to a stop I get a harsh 2-1 shift. Key off restart then shifts smoothly up and down provided I dont exceed the TCC lockup speed. This leads me to the TCC solenoid I think. Fluid has been changed regularly.
Had to drive 300 miles to get home. Only for the plate trans cooler the fluid would have overheated as on inclines on cruise control the engine would rev to 3k to keep the speed at 70mph and I could see the fluid temp increasing. Fuel consumption was very bad almost a full tank (with no ac). Doing some research there is talk about valve gasket blowout Epc solenoids etc, though these were for Rangers and Explorers, no real mention of Aerostar.
I have a 2004 f150 with an edge programmer. My transmission will only stay in 3rd gear, the overdrive light is flashing, and it is giving these dtc's: p0720, P0722, P0731, P0732, P2106.... What is going on?

View 10 RepliesOverdrive light started flashing this week on my 2000 F450 7.3 mason dump. It only does it when it shifts into 4th gear once it hits that gear at about 35mph the overdrive light flashes until you restart the truck and it resets. Does the same thing all the time but DOESN'T flash if i'm driving around town on back roads and never get to that gear. Could this be something minor besides the transmission starting to go? It drives and shifts fine even when the light is flashing. I wait to get the error code read?

View 8 RepliesI have a 2001 F250, 5.4, 4X4. My ignition key stuck in the start position and when I pulled it back to the run position, everything seemed ok. As I started down the road, my speedometer stopped working and my overdrive light was flashing. Also my turn signals had stopped working and my A/C clutch didn't engage. Figured I burnt a fuse. I looked in both the under dash and power distribution box and all seemed well. I checked the fuse for the turn signals/flasher and it was fine. The flashers worked. Thought I might have fried something so I replaced the ignition lock and switch. Also my service engine light came on throwing a code for the vehicle speed sensor.
Looking for solutions on this forum and the internet, I learned that the turn signal switch could have gone bad and the VSS sensor is on the top of the rear dif and an easy fix. Well replaced the sensor but nothing changed. So I went back to the fuse box. Examined every fuse, big and small and I found a 10a with a small space. This was #24 under the dash. From the manual, "#24, 10A, A/C clutch, Blend Door Actuator, Trailer Tow Battery Charge Relay Coil, Four Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS), Turn Signal." Replaced it and everything went back to normal. Turn signals work, A/C clutch works, no flashing overdrive light and speedometer works. All from a 10A fuse. If you have any of these symptoms examine all the fuses carefully. There's a 20A fuse for turn/hazard lamps and this other one buried that's only 10A.
