View 2 RepliesWhen I Accelerate It almost feels like I am fluttering the gas pedal. Its weird on my car now I have revo stage 2, a TIP, 42DD TBE, 4bar FPR.. Do I need to buy a race n75 vavle ?
View 11 RepliesOkay so in my 99 f150 ecsb 4x4 i believe i spun a bearing. its making an awful noise. I was wondering if it was possible to drop the oil pan while the truck is in the air and change the spun bearing. is this possible to do? with 205,000 miles on it...
View 3 RepliesSo, I have a 4.9l 1995 F150 equipped with the E4OD trans. Lately, noticed over the last two or three days, the vehicle does not want to accelerate under WOT. I can hear the RPMs of the engine increasing, but the vehicle speed will remain the same; it will do this in any gear.
I checked my fluid color and level in the trans, and all was in fine. There was no discoloration or odor, nor was the fluid low at all. I'm wondering if this is a torque convertor issue, or a problem with the clutches slipping.
Mind you, my truck just hit 70k, so this isn't a high mileage vehicle. Under light load, or throttle, the vehicle will shift fine through all gears. However, if I try to accelerate heavily, or go WOT, I get nowhere. It feels like slipping.
Someone recommended that I pull codes; they are as follows:
KOEO 33--EGR did not open
Continuous 28--VAT sensor out of range
Engine Running 63--TPS too low
26--MAF or VAF out of range
32--EVP/EGR not responding during test
My plans are to check for codes again, fluid and filter change, and then see what is going on. Would an 8 hour road-trip at close to 80mph have caused this, because after getting back I noticed this problem.
I have a '98 Ford F-150 XLT, 2WD, Short bed, Ext. cab, 4.6L, automatic trans. with 65,000 orig. miles. I bought this truck new. When I have the A/C or heater or just outside air coming in through the dash or floor vents, the air will switch to coming out of the defrosters when I accelerate and then the air will return to it's normal position when I let up on the gas. Is this caused by a bad vacuum check valve and if so where is it located and what does it look like??
View 11 RepliesMy truck was parked at home and hadn't been started for 10 days. When I did start it for the first time, I heard the cooling fan spooling up or down, consistent with the engine rpm. After pulling away from my home I saw the fan speed spool up to near 2,800 rpm during the short period it was locked-in with the engine speed.
While driving out of my neighborhood, and about 1/3 of a mile from my house, the fan returned to normal speed of about 480 rpm. I have the FSS pid displayed on my Scangauge and was able to see the fan speed while hearing it. Now I know what the fan sounds like at a high rpm. It makes quite a roar.
This has never happened before. I've driven the truck a few times since then and it hasn't occurred again. What may have caused this?
My wife has a 2004 Hyundai Accent. This morning when she tried to leave for work only one wheel spun, the other dragged behind. What's going on? Brakes, CV joint, transmission?
View 14 RepliesWhen in reverse going uphill on my snow covered driveway (backing in), I noticed that the two front wheels spun, but only the passenger side rear wheel spun. The evidence was that the car did not move up the hill and the tires made ice patches where the three wheels spun. Is this normal?
Car: 2004 R32
Happen 2 times this morning, making left turn. Left (inside) front tire spun out.
Granted there weren't enough grip (sand + LRR overinflated tire) but isn't ESP suppose to take over in situations like this?
I've had my 2010 Prius for about 3.5 years now and this is the 3rd maybe 4th time happening. This morning I started the car and the car started to vibrate/rattle from the engine bay. It almost sounded like the wheel of fortune being spun but louder.
View 5 RepliesI just bought a 2010 F150 XLT XTR SuperCab 4X4 with a 4.6L 3V engine. I had a 2003 5.4L and a 2004 V10 before and this new engine seems to be nosier then the older ones I've had. It's a ticking/fluttering type noise I here when I'm standing outside the truck while it is idling. Is it normal for these newer 3V engines to make this noise? My wife has a 2009 Hyundai Santefe and it makes a similar noise just not as loud. Does the 5.4L make a similar noise also?
View 12 RepliesI am looking at a 1999 Ford F-150 that has no oil pressure. The current owner was driving driving on the highway and the oil pressure dropped off. He stopped and had it towed home. It still runs, but he says it runs 'odd' now. I'm thinking its the oil pump... ?
View 9 RepliesI bought a 1999 F150 4.6 4x4 recently that is giving me some problems. The current one is the AC compressor. The system wasn't charged when I bought it a month or so ago and last week the compressor started smoking. I replaced it with a brand new one, including the clutch and pulley, accumulator and orifice tube. I never got the chance to charge the system because the first time I drove the truck the new compressor started freezing up. I took it back and exchanged it and put the new one in. This time I paid attention and the clutch engages as soon as I start the truck. The AC controls are off and there is no freon in the lines.
View 10 RepliesI have changed the rotor, inner and outer bearings, and the brake shoes look pretty good. My truck still shakes when I stop, it acts like bad rotors, but they are new.
View 5 RepliesI have an intermittent issue w/ my 1999 Ford F150 which will not turn over and leaves me stranded at work which is 55 miles from home. Had air intake valve replaced earlier this year amongst other things. I have to admit, my Ford dealership has been good to me, but they had the truck for 3 weeks (gave me a 2011 Lariat loaner - awesome) but the truck started every day. No error codes. I have it back 24 hours and was stranded again. We replaced the fuel pump last time - obviously not the problem. 221,000 miles and has been great to me until this year.
View 2 RepliesI have a 1999 F-150 4.6L V-8, and the battery light is staying on. Something is draining the battery. I have taken it to Auto Zone, and they tested the battery (brand new), starter, and alternator - all show good. The only error they can register is "C1226 brake light lamp short." What could be causing this? I had to get jump started at a gas station 2 nights ago. I have checked the alternator fuse, and it is ok. Could the wiring be bad somewhere?
View 4 RepliesI have a '99 F150 4.2 5 speed, my problem is, my heating isn't working. My A/C works fine, my blower motor does too, i changed my heater core about a year ago. I turn my truck on wait for it to warm up and once my gauge reads normal temp, i turn my control to the warm position but the air blows cold with just a very small hint of heat. I looked it up in my Chilton book and they said to check my hoses that go to the firewall/heater core. They say that both hoses should be hot and if one isn't to check it. i did that and the one on the left side(facing the truck) is barely warm. what could be my problem? heater core? my friend from Autozone said something about a vacuum control somewhere in the engine compartment but i don't know where it is, could that be a problem? Or would the flapper door be stuck?
View 7 RepliesI am having trouble big time getting air out of my brake lines. I put new front pads and rotors on and also had to replace the brake line coming from the caliper as it kind of crumbled and needed to replace the next line up that goes to the ABS block on the left front. After doing this, I bled that wheel only and at first it was ok until the brake line on the right front at the caliper also broke when I was pushing on the brake pedal with the truck running, spewing fluid all over. I have tried to bleed using a decent vacuum bleed setup from Advanced Auto but keep getting massive amounts of air coming out and when I start the truck and hit the brake pedal, it goes to the floor. Could the master cylinder be bad? I have checked every connection that I made and all other connections and there are no leaks at all. I am stuck in the garage! The truck is a 1999 F150 4x4 with 4 wheel ABS.
View 1 RepliesI have a 1999 Ford F150 6 cyl. 4.2, 2 WD with 160,000 miles. Replaced the battery May 2010.
Today battery light came on. Battery gauge did not look like it was discharging. Had battery checked they said it was a little low but OK. Then they continued test and tried to check alternator, test stopped and they said something wrong with alternator most likely.
I took alternator out and had it bench tested. They said it was OK, putting out 98 amp on 95 amp alternator. They said check wires, grounds, harness, connections. Checked connections and wires as much as possible, reinstalled alternator, light still on.
Have not checked fuses yet. Was told to start vehicle, disconnect positive battery cable and if engine continued to run alternator was good, if cut off alternator was bad and to replace. Should I try this and is it true?
What is the part on the fire wall that is between the alternator and the battery that the wire connection runs through? Can it be bench tested/checked?
99 volkswagen passat 1.8T ... The turbo have like a fluttering noise when i let off, I just installed a APR chip. Is it a dieverter valve or something.
View 2 Repliesso on the way home from the golf course, I caught a little bit of fluttering in 3rd and 4th gear pulls. Time to upgrade the dv I guess. I was under the impression that we wouldn't have to do this though.
