My 2002 Ford Explorer has a 4.0 liter engine. The overdrive light on the dash is blinking.......what repair and how much would it cost to expedite that repair? Also the ABS light is on....

View 1 RepliesMy overdrive light is blinking off and on. When I accelerate normally, the truck starts stumbling? (don't know a better word) some, sort of like a clogged air filter or fuel filter. I am going to take it to a transmission shop because its a little beyond me, but don't want to get ripped off.
View 10 RepliesI have a `95 explorer with the 4.0 motor. The electronic overdrive off indicator light (O/D Off) on dash started flashing today. The transmission seems to be shifting into overdrive. Owner's manual says to have it checked as damage can be caused. What I should be checking?
View 11 RepliesOn my 2006 Ford F150 2WD, v6 automatic, the overdrive dash lamp is blinking, I get a engine light and the code I get is a P0743. That indicates the solenoid or wiring is bad, but everything works just fine. The transmission is running fine, clear fluid - no odor. The overdrive works and the truck shifts like new. When I start, the "OD-OFF" light immediately starts blinking and never changes. I can activate the OD normally and it doesn't effect the blinking light.
Where to start? I suspect that since all is functioning well, the issue is with the signal to the ecm? By the way, I can clear the code so that the engine light goes off, but the "OD-OFF" light remains blinking.
This might be a dumb question but the light for my overdrive is blinking and it won't stop. I tried pushing the button on the end of the shifter but it still blinks. No codes are triggered. This is on my 2000 7.3l 4x4 limited. I haven't check the fluid level yet. Just got home from an exhausting trip. Here is a picture.

The problems that I am having at the moment are that the abs light is on from the speedometer, odometer, also the blinking overdrive light that comes on at around 25 mph. After some research I had purchased a ford factory sensor for the rear dif. I then replaced the old sensor with the factory one. Started the truck and not a single thing had changed, both the meters were not working as well as the od light was still flashing.
View 4 RepliesMy 2002 explorer, 4.0l engine. My 4x4 light on the dash blinks 10 times and I've found that sometimes the 4 wheel drive locks in. When i pull into a parking space on dry road I can feel the front of the truck Jerking when trying to park. I hit the 4x4 auto button on the dash a couple of times and the 4 x 4 will disengage. While driving on dry road yesterday the 4x4 light started blinking and I felt the 4x4 slam in. The 4x4 light still blinks and I can't disengage the 4 x 4 this time. The truck has 140,000 miles on it. I'm thinking its the 4x4 control module but I'm not sure.

View 4 RepliesSo here's the deal: My 2000 F250 has began to have the overdrive light blink when I am traveling at low speeds <40mph and it is accompanied by strange shifting (lower gear for a longer period of time). As soon as I get up to highway speeds the blinking stops and goes back to normal operation. But as soon as I go back to low speeds it happens again. When I put the truck in to park when it has the light blinking it revs it self to about 1200rpms then goes back to normal idle. This truck has 228k miles and is on the original transmission.
View 5 RepliesTook a 2 hour trip got of the interstate came to a stop light and the OD light starting blinking cut the truck off at the light fired it back up shifted in every gear like normal drove a little ways stopped at a light and OD started blinking again cut truck off back on light. Went away shifted great threw all the gears.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2000 f250 with the 7.3 and 181,000 miles on it, recently got stuck in the snow (in 2wd because i forgot to lock the hubs) and the rear wheels did alot of spinning. Now i randomly have the OD light start to blink, sometimes its a half a blink, sometimes it'll stay on for a few seconds, itll do it randomly while crusing down the road at a constant speed, also noticed my rpms fluctuate a tad at idle.
View 4 RepliesI have a '99 F250 SuperDuty Diesel with an Automatic Transmission. There is a button on the end of the gear shift which allows you to turn off overdrive -- in other words the transmission won't shift into overdrive once you press the button.
Here's my problem. I start off driving normally. I've not done nothing to the overdrive button and the truck shifts normally into overdrive. 10-15 minutes down the road, the overdrive light (which indicates the state of the overdrive button) is FLASHING. Pressing the button doesn't stop the flashing. Once this flashing starts, the only thing I notice is a much more abrupt shift from 1 -> 2 gear.
My 2000 Explorer overdrive light will blink once in awhile no hard shifting, no slipping, i also pushed the overdrive button while it was doing this and it went out of overdrive , trans has been service, I know this is a common issue with explorers . I understand that it could be caused by a number of issues. I haven't had the codes pulled yet.

I bought it used 2 months ago and have had the low/tow overdrive light blinking. a month ago I removed the pan and changed the filter in the transmission. I had a friend run the diagnostic test and found transmission solenoid code as well as both cat. converters as well as my Number 8 cylinder misfiring... I pulled the transmission pan and filter to find what appears to be 7 solenoids? Where to start?

View 1 RepliesI have a 1995 Explorer 4x4, and starting last month i have been having an intermittent problem with bang shifting, the only time the bang shifting occurs is when the overdrive off light flashes, the only time the O/D Off light flashes is after driving the interstate or driving around town on hot days, after a few days or a few weeks the light turns off and its shift normal and no bang shifting, but i have a new problem now, the O/D Light off started flashing last night after driving the interstate and I noticed on my way home that it wont shift, it hit 4000rpm and i had to tap the break and accelerate again to make it shift, I went to AAMCO and they wont give me the codes the only thing they said is they want to do a soft parts rebuild, and something about hte gear ratio being off, i dont have the money to spend for a new trans or have one rebuilt, i would like to fix this myself.
View 14 RepliesWe have a '99 Explorer AWD with the 5.0 and the 4R70W transmission. This morning the "OD off" light started blinking. I looked it up in the owners manual and it said "see your tech" or something like that. I drove it on the freeway and the only thing I can see different is the RPMs are a couple of hundred more @ the same speed. It shifts fine. I put a couple of quarts of fluid in it just to be sure. The white plastic stick is hard to read.
