I have an '01 ford expedition. the cruise control was working fine up til a week ago. Now it will not turn on. I checked the fuse. I have a mechanical aptitude, and no money to put it in the shop. How to troubleshoot?
View 9 RepliesSo the PO tells me he was flying down the highway and went to cancel his cruise control and it wouldn't turn off. He claims he made it to the shoulder of the highway and killed the ignition. When he restarted the truck is was turned off and it hasn't been used since. I tried to use it yesterday but couldn't get it to work?
So I do the search and find out that the deactivation switch is most likely the issue. I just picked up a new one today and was curious if it is just a R & R thing or if it needs to be bleed off or something? Is there a need to test it or just change it out? Sound like something that would cause these issues?

Cruise control will turn on, will sometimes set speed and sometimes will not. If it does set and work it may kick off at any second or it may run fine. I have noticed it seems to kick off mainly after going over a slight bump in the highway or it may just kick off for the hell of it. Truck has 50,000 miles on it, I bought it new. Also having trouble with the throttle position sensor, it seems to have a "dead spot" at about 58 mph that shows up when I romp down on the pedal to pass on 2 lane roads. Can these two symptoms be related? Both are very aggravating. FWIW it does have the power adjust pedals. Truck is 100% stock, no power chips or other upgrades.
I have only a week ago returned from a 4300 mile odyssey with no problems, but yesterday while taking a turn in the country, my cruise control vanished! This is a Gen III, model IV, STANDARD cruise, and out of warranty, 43K. Stopped briefly to go into a shop and when I came out and started the car again......no cruise! No it wasn't in "B", all of us have had that happen to us at some point if we use B at all. It continues to be "non-functioning", and w/o any green pilot light on the dash display, or despite that no engagement,....I tried.
I figured it must have blown a fuse. The owners manual is quite good regards both the under hood and the under dash fuse boxes, telling you what each one is for, etc., but I can find none of these fuses with a code that I am even remotely confident is for the CC. Where is the fuse for the cruise control? Is it in another remote area? What is the "code" for it? Or if it is in one of these fuse panels, what # is it?
I have a 2005 Santa Fe 2.7 ... My cruise control on the steering column began to work only intermittently. Now it doesn't work at all. It will turn on but won't set.

Cruise control switch (E45): Implausable signal
P1569 - 35 - 10 ---- Intermittent
I tried clearing it but it would but the light remains on. I noticed that when i hit the RES button on the stalk, the light goes away and when that when I scanned the car and held the RES button the code would come back. My cruise control also stopped working.
I have a 2010 VW Jetta that now displays "Err" when I turn on the cruise control toggle - It is an automatic and all the break lights work - How do I self diagnose and fix? Or is the something the tech wizards at VW will need to do? Not really looking forward to a expensive repair being that cruse control does not effect the car's performance.
View 7 RepliesYesterday I was driving my truck and went to activate the cruise so I pressed the button to turn it on and hit set but nothing happened. The on light was lit but the cruise indicator didn't light up in the speedo. I got to where I was headed, shut the truck off and on my way home tried this again to have the the cruise work normally. Cruise acting up and not work on occasion? I've never had the cruise control act up before so is there something I can check out? Bad connection or something?

Often when I press the button to turn on the CC it will not come on, but if I turn the steering wheel to the left a bit I am able to turn on the cruise, sometimes when I turn the wheel back it will continue to work and other times it will not. I tried to search and found others posts about prius CC but couldn't find anything that included all of my symptoms.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2000 Toyota Sienna. At first I noticed that the dashboard light showing the left turn signal was on would light up when I put on the headlights. A few days later, I discovered that the left turn signal stops working when I apply the break. Also, when I'm using cruise control and use my left turn signal, the cruise control stops maintaining speed.
View 2 RepliesI have an 02 f150 5.4 and since I got it it hasn't had cruse control. I went to a local ford dealership and they ran the vin and didn't find any recall on it. Under the hood on the master cylinder there is brake fluid coming out of the brake control switch. Would I have to do something with the harness too?

Would I start with the Clock Spring? Will Durango parts interchange? ABS Light, was told the problem is the main unit that mounts on the driver side fender. Have tried replacing with other units from the local scrap yard, but still get warning lights/sounds.
I'm at my wit's end trying to install cruise control in my 2009 Corolla. I thought it was a relatively easy install, but then after putting the airbag in place, I find that the horn no longer works. I test out the cruise control, and the green "Cruise" lights up on the dashboard..but it doesn't actually work.

View 15 RepliesMy 2010 Subaru Outback recently surprised the hell out of me by simultaneously turning on the brake warning light, the traction control light, the check engine light and (just for a bonus!) disabled my cruise control while flashing the cruise control light. I pulled over, quickly surmising that all of those systems could not have failed at 70 MPH without instantaneous death to either me or the vehicle. Both apparently still being alive, I tried turning the car on an off to reset the lights. No go. Subaru was not going to miss this chance to get me to the dealership! (who I had avoided to this point!) As I was far away from home and the car being very healthy, it seemed, I decided to drive on. I proceeded to put a couple of hundred more miles on the car before I got back to town.
My car had 39,000 miles on it, 3,000 miles beyond the warranty end. I learned that I have an error code of P0171, "Fuel Trim Malfunction (Air/Fuel too lean)". So I guess I'm wondering about a few things...why would this sensor set off every light on my dashboard and disable my cruise control? Seems a bit overblown for running a bit lean. My gut tells me Subaru has a sensor/software problem they are not owning up to. I'm a big fan of conspiracy theories and this really smells like one...
Second, jeez, I'm only 3K miles over warranty, don't you think they'd cut me some slack. I mean I love my Subaru, or did anyway, until this happened. Now it's just another POS car that breaks for no apparent reason...
I turn my cruise on and then attempt to set it , nothing happens , doesn't set, no light , nothing. I hit coast and the light comes on but still doesn't hold. Should the light come on when cruise is turned on or set? I checked the master cylinder switch and it's not wet. I also did the self diagnostic test and got nothing but the initial first light blink.
