I bought my wife a 2007 Ford sport trac about six months ago. It has always made a very peculiar sound. It only makes this noise when you are driving about 50 mph uphill. The sound is rhythmic and coming from the rear of the truck. I would compare it to driving over sets of rumble strips but quieter. The vehicle is 4x4 and my theory is that it has something to do with this.

I do not hear anything trying to switch to front vents... Is there a fuse that could be blown....
Parts store guy said bad actuator.... have to pull dash..... but then said he heard of a way to sneak in the side of the center console....
We have a 03 Ford Explorer Sport Trac that we just changed the ICV on because after it would warm up it dies at intersections. Now it shutter quite a bit a dies in reverse. We took it to a transmission place and no codes come up.
View 3 RepliesJust picked up '14 350 f-sport and I notice a lot of road noise after 100 miles, have about 150 miles on it now and it sounds like the front wheel bearings or maybe the tires? sounds like a rumbling coming from the front. I don't recall hearing it on the test ride, not sure if its normal or not.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2003 Sport Trac that basically died last night on me. I drove it 30 miles Shut it off for about 10 minutes came back out and it cranks but it will not start. I sprayed some starting fluid into the throttle body and it ran for a second, so it's definitely a fuel issue. I am just not sure if it could be a fuel pump, Relay, or a dirty Fuel filter (I have not changed in the 87K I had the truck). Because it ran fine before it died..
View 5 RepliesMy Sport Trac will periodically fail to start after shutting it down for a short period. It doesn't stall, but won't start after parking for just a few minutes to a couple of hours. I've had it towed twice, but it always starts after it gets to the shop and the mechanic can't find a problem or a code. It has happened 4 times and seems to start again after it sits for 3 hours or more, definitely by the next morning. A fuel system cleaner had been tried and the fuel filter has been replaced, but the problem continues.

Lately my truck has been acting funny. About 1 out of 3 times I start my truck and put it n reverse it starts doing what I would describe as a hesitation. If I sit for about 10 seconds, it will stop. But if I move while it is happening it will move and jerk as if i was slightly hitting the brake constantly (no the parking break is not on). It will continue when I throw it in drive until I give it some gas. From then on as far as I can tell there are no problems. It doesn't do it every time. I went in for an oil change and they told me I will need to replace the belt soon, so could that be the culprit?
All other lights work including Driving lights and High Beams.
I have checked fuses.
So since I added the spark cut tune, I've had this weird buzzing noise when it's down gearing. It doesn't do it in D though which is odd. What could be wrong?
View 2 RepliesRecently picked up a CPO 2013 F-Sport and I've been experiencing a subtle clunking noise over sharp bumps (like raised expansion joints) or potholes at speed. It's a very subtle clunk that comes from the front and rear end, not attributable to any specific corner of the car.The sound completely disappears when I flip it to Sport+ mode, leading me to wonder if the noise is just inherent to the adjustable suspension. Additionally, I didn't notice the noise until after a new set of Michelin Pilot SSs which replaced some cheap dealer tires (Accelera Phis) with very soft sidewalls.
It's not an alarming noise but it does have 53K on the odo so I'm curious as to whether this is indicative of impending bushing/strut issues or if it's normal and other F-Sport owners experience the same noise.
Prior to this I had 2009 STi (low profile tires, stiffer suspension) and never heard any clunking type noise over these same bumps (expansion joints, potholes) so it does have me slightly worried.
My 1995 TS with 3.8 just quit driving down the road, would not restart. had to be towed home.
Fuel pressure just meets specs at 41 PSI engine off ( Gm says 41 to 47), but has been that way for some time. Put Actron scan tool on, got a code 361, EST not toggling. GM has no code 361, but based on past experience, this has usually pointed to a defective ignition module, and I thought that was that. While testing, scan tool kept losing communications and having to be reset.
Finally I unplugged power source of tool, and engine immediately quit and would not restart. Resetting scan tool would allow engine to restart, albeit very rough. Doing a wiggle test of engine wiring harness makes no change.
Crank sensor was replaced, about 12 years ago, so it not the trouble prone OEM; cam sensor about 10 years ago by a garage who was unsuccessful in solving a driveability issue.
Issue here is why would scan tool affect engine operation?
I have a 2007 RAV4 Sport and it is making a noise..... kinda like a rubbing noise, almost a squeaking noise. It happens when I first start up my car and more when the weather is colder. After a few minutes of driving it stops. It also seems to be louder when I am idling, and quiets down once I begin driving again. It seems to be coming from the right front part (the right side if you are sitting IN the car, the left side if you are standing in front of the car and looking at it) of the engine. I can see a belt down in that area...... is that probably it? I have not ever had any other issues with my car and I have had it since it was new.

View 7 Replies2005 Sport Trac 4x4... So, my fiance purchased this new off the floor before i met her (or else she wouldn't have bought it). Had a motor issue which required a new motor after 90k miles.. Anyways, while driving on a normal road, i dropped the rear window and hear this whining noise. Checked the transmission fluid and it was a little low, nothing major. Topped it off with Mercon V... No effect. Where do i look next. It does not have a tow package. Do i check the transfer case, or rear differential?.I am thinking differential because the transfer case is more upfront to where the noise is. you cant hear it with front windows down. Only the rear sliding window or rear passenger's windows.

I changed the oil using a higher grade oil and lucas oil treatment and started it ...I still have the problem what do i do...
View 7 RepliesI got my all new Lexus but driver door has been rattle since 400 mile. It's like plastic vibrating and creaking.... I think it's the door panel is making the noise especially on rough road. When it rattles, I can place my hands on and share the vibration, then the noise would be somehow suppressed.
The problem is that I took it to dealer and they, as usual, cannot reproduce the problem! I took down the door panel myself, tightened all screws...and the noise...got worse....

View 24 RepliesI took the R in for a passenger side seat issue (recliner not working), and while I was there I had them look into a light knocking noise I was experiencing.
The noise would happen most noticeably at low speeds, over uneven road surfaces...but not over things like speed bumps. I checked under the car, checked the hatch, made sure the spare/tools were secure, and nothing worked.
VW figured out that the noise was coming from the lower rubber rear spring plate, part (1K0-512-297-D). Not sure if it was one side or both, but they replaced both.
All better now, no more noise! Just wanted to make a thread for those of you who like to hunt down and fix noises.
I have a 2007 Nissan Quest with only 74,000 miles. We recently bought new tires for it (like about year ago, and not very expensive either) and in the past few weeks it has developed road noise. I know sometimes tires wear differently and generate noise but this is more of a "whirring" sound. Could it be bearing? Torque converter? Axles?
View 1 Replies2007 3.6 Wagon Sport. My wife has the 18" Samarklan wheels and automatic transmission. We have complained to the dealer since the beginning with only the "you need new tires" response. Well we got new tires last year and the noise was the same. I've had 18" on my old '00 S4 and current '00 A8 with nothing near this amount of noise.
The sound is most like a groan and doesn't seem to be coming from the engine. It's seem most noticeable at lower speeds coming/coasting to a stop, but does not seem to vary with or without braking. It doesn't seem to vary based on turning either.
I don't ride in her car much, but am always shocked how loud it is when I do, as it's so dramatically louder. Also the HVAC 'percolates' constantly which is generally only noticeable at idle. This is a small, secondary concern. I everyone's Passat really this loud?
