View 3 Repliesok, i just became the proud owner of a 71 dodge dart.. fuel pump was not working, and am converting to an electric (airtex e8016s) and am told i need a relay. airtex doesn't seem to have one, is there another i can use? fairly new at this sort of thing, but have fixed a 72 honda motorbike, so not afraid of engines or whatnot.
View 19 RepliesMy truck wouldn't start so i replaced the fuel filter and it ran fine for a week than wouldn't start again. Took it to a mech, who ran all the computer codes and scans on it and came up with a lift pump pressure problem. Replaced the pump and it ran for 4 days, now it doesn't start again. They said the injection pump was fine.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2005 VW Phaeton V6 TDI, with a couple of problems.
Oil temp and Fuel level gauges are not working. Range remaining displayed as "---". Ride height button activates a screen in the infotainment and shows that vehicle is in normal height ride but it won't let me change it to high. Dampening button doesn't activate anything at all. However the button itself works, I've tested it using measuring blocks.Volume and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel don't work although they are illuminated. Buttons that control the MFD work absolutely fine.
I've noticed that my vcds cable cannot connect to the following controllers and they are missing from the autoscan:
Address 07: Control Head
Address 09: Cent. Elect.
Address 17: Instruments
Address 19: CAN Gateway
Address 37: Navigation
Address 47: Sound System
Maybe they all have something in common ? I have no problems connecting to other vehicles or other controllers in this car. Previous owner fitted an instrument cluster from a 2011 VW Phaeton, but it seems to work fine except for the problems stated above.
I have a 2010 Sonata. The fuel and temp gauges stopped working. Tank is full and engine temp is good. Both dont move when you turn the key on. Tried to find a fuse that they may be on but couldn't find it.
View 2 RepliesMy '04 Passat 4Motion (station wagon) engine coolant temperature gauge, fuel gauge, and outside temperature display all stopped working in the same time. Interestingly enough, car has 32K miles and just ran out of manufacturer warranty 2 months ago.
What could be happening? Should I be checking fuse box or this may be related to some more serious failure?
1990 Dodge Ram Van.... How hard is this to fix. Some Guys in Los Banos took two days to replace a fuel pump. End result, new pump not grounded so continually drains battery unless I mess with a fuse everytime I start/stop car.
View 2 RepliesI've got the 2.4 L DHC 97 Stratus, 4 cylinder. I just finished a head gasket job and now I'm getting a crank, no start condition. I noticed I was getting no fuel pressure at the rail and when checking the 4 pin connector to the fuel pump in the trunk, I'm getting 0 volts when cranking. I ordered new fuel pump and ASD relays, though I did the tests in the Haynes manual and the ones I have seem good. All of this stuff was working before I took everything apart. I've checked around for obvious electrical connections or ground wires I missed hooking back up, but can't find anything. l am getting spark, so I think that means my crank and cam sensors are working. I'm stuck on this one.
View 9 RepliesFuel pump in my Volvo 940 has been replaced twice. Since then, my fuel gauge has not worked right and I have had to pump gas about every 120 miles so that the fuel pump would work right. I would fill the tank, and 120 miles (about 5 gallons) later the fuel gauge would indicate about 1/4 tank of gas left. That's when the fuel pump begins to mis-behave. If I make a sharp turn, it would stopped pumping for about 2-3 seconds. If I continue to drive at that level of gas. I can avoid all these problems by keeping the tank at least "half-full", that is, by pumping every 120 miles. The car was totaled by a hail storm and I bought it back for $84. I like to operate the vehicle for as long as I can, one day at a time.
View 1 RepliesI have a '96 Dodge Stratus that keeps blowing fuse #20, which is for the fuel pump and the ignition. How to isolate the problem? This happens as soon as the key is turned on. The car has 140,000 miles and runs excellent otherwise.
View 3 Replies1996 Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.3 L engine. When the outside temp is a good range (50 degrees F & above) there is no problem starting. But when it gets below 40 deg. F and really chilly outside temp, I still have strong battery power, but when I switch on the ignition, I don't hear the normal fuel pump activation swirl sound and does not crank - simply silent click. Then I can wait when the outside temp improves and cranks up no problem.
View 6 RepliesIntermittent fuel pump problems in '96 Dodge ram resulted in new fuel pump 50,000 miles ago. Happened again 100 miles ago, so another new fuel pump. Now to start car must turn the ignition on several times before going to the start position. It appears the latest new pump may have defective one way check valve, so the pressure is depleting after turn off. Any favorite brand of fuel pump for the Dodge "pump in the gas tank" arrangement? Or solutions such as installing an external pump to do the work of pumping the fuel?
View 1 RepliesI just replaced fuel pump and tps on my 1989 Dodge Dakota 4 cyl truck. Now it idles rough and the check engine light came on. I have removed battery cable to reset computer but did no good. What could be the problem now? I have since replaced the plug wires and distrib cap and it is flashing 3 5 5 twice now?
View 10 RepliesI have a 09 Camry 2.4L Installed veep core an now have no power to fuel pump . I have checked for ECM sending signal to turn on (it does)have had locksmith redo security (no luck) and will run if fuel manually induced . Has rpm signal on my diag so it's reading rpm also
View 1 RepliesMy dodge truck won't start. I replaced the fuel filter and that cured it for a week then it would't start again.Took it to a mech. and they scaned it with there computer and diagnosed it as a lift pump issue as the pressure was a bit low. Replaced the pump and that worked for 4 days, now it won't start again.
View 1 RepliesMy 1993 Bonneville SE; fuel pump is not working. I don't know if it's the relay or not. How can I check and where is the relay. I have relays in horizontal line in center of my firewall. I am disabled and don't have any other transport.
View 1 RepliesMy car is almost turning on. It goes all the way but then just doesn't start. The fuel pump is working, can hear it. We checked for spark and there is. we sprayed that carburetor or whatever it is in the air intake thing too and it still didn't start. My buddy is saying that it has to be a sensor. Either O2 or crankshaft something sensor.
View 13 Replies2000 Mustang was running fine. It hasn't been driven in a couple of days, and now wont start. No noise in the tank, fuel pump not working. But when you spray gas into the throttle body it wont even try to hit. Fuses under the hood beside the battery are all good. Inerta switch is down and in place. Am I missing something? maybe a relay? I would just think no matter what, getting fuel into the opening of the throttle would cause the car to at least cough.
View 5 RepliesAs I say in my first thread my 2000 4 runner don't start after I change the spark plugs. I don't get any fuel pressure from the fuel pump.
View 2 RepliesLooking at a 2002 Dodge Diesel 5.9 TURBO 3/4 ton pickup. There is an oil leak on the drivers side that you can see if you look over the tire, that the owner says comes from an overflow out of the oil pan. Never heard of it. Owner says it loses about 1/2 qt. oil at every change at 3,000 miles. Do I need to run real fast??
View 7 Replies2002 Dodge Diesel PU ... At about 125000 miles a slight vibration appeared and has progressively gotten worse. Now at 177000 it comes on at 60 mph and is pretty bad. I've replaced tires, shocks, hub bearings, u-joints and locator bars, all to no avail. The tires show no unusual wear and the drive shaft(s) u-joints appear good. I'm not the only one with this problem but Dodge denies any knowledge of it's occurrence.
