My mechanic has diagnosed a trouble code P0601 (Internal Control Memory Fault) on my 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan. He and I feel the car is running fine. Do I need to get the PCM replaced (as I've been reading online) or can I drive it as is? We don't have emissions checks.

I also have my CE light on. Hooked up my reader and got the "P1491 Radiator Fan Control Relay" code. I have checked my rad fan fuse and it is okay. My attempt to locate the rad fan relay took me from the rad fan wire to a device that looks like a heat sink. It is located on the vehicle frame between the rad. and front grill. Is this the rad fan relay? If it is I'm not sure how I would replace it. It seems riveted to the frame.
I have a 2012 6.7 with a Spartan tuner. Threw this code a few months ago. Reset everything, trucks runs great, no issues. Never had this code come up again. I've looked it up and it says, "Internal Control Module Torque Performance". I'm just not sure what this means.
View 2 RepliesI am getting to check engine codes and I can't figure out what is causing them, one is P1296 cooling system malfunction, the other is P1654 Check DTC Memory of control panel ECU, any clues as to why I'm getting these, I did have a bad thermostat i changed that and it's still on, I also used the new prestone antifreeze for all makes and models, cause I am about 200 miles away from a dealership for g12.
View 6 RepliesI've had problems with "phantom" or "ghost" wipers on my 1998 Dodge Caravan for the last few years. They come on at random, whether the switch is engaged or not, and stay on for random times, sometimes continuously. No manipulation in the multifunction switch changes the operation. They just come on and go off as they please. Furthermore, the climate control blower will often act up, not coming on right away, sometimes taking several minutes of driving before it starts blowing. I've also noticed a very occasional problem with the instrument panel not functioning and then later starting to work again. I've seen a lot about the BCM being the problem, but it would seem like if the BCM was malfunctioning it wouldn't ever work right. This FEELS like a grounding or wiring damage issue.

View 1 RepliesCan a front brake job (pads and rotors) and an alignment cause the ABS Light (code 2200) to go on? I went to pick up the car and the mechanic said it was a coincidence that the light is on after the brake and alignment job. The light was not on before I brought the car (2008 Dodge Caravan) in but went on a few hours after the job was completed.
View 4 RepliesMy caravan is doing this thing lately (cold weather) where i start it and when i hear it start i let off the key and it dies instantly (like It fires for an 1/8 second). Ive had it go as bad as 7 tries before it stays running. after it does get running it runs perfectly. The most recent time it threw a code of "p1607 internal shutdown timer rationality condition"
other noted issue is that the power steering pump squalls really bad when its under about 45 degrees until it warms up, fluid level is fine. I think the fluid is gelling up causing alot of friction. I dont know if this added friction upon cold start could lead to the engine dying right away.
I have also heard that there are some idle sensors of some sort that can cause this dying on startup condition.

I keep getting this code even after fixing hoses with leaks. I am guilty of over filling my gas tank all the time can this have damaged the vapor canister on my 2001 dodge caravan....
View 7 RepliesMy r is throwing a p0601 sum error. I clear, it comes right back. I know the previous owner has it chipped at a garage that wasn't linked to any brand. I was planning on putting an apr/giac tune over it but now I can't (no money). I know this might mean I need a new ecu. Right now I plan on going to vw on monday and having them reflash the ecu bringing it back to stock...if it returns then i guess i need a new ecu... This sound right?

View 7 RepliesI have a 2013 VW Passat TDI SE DSG and I was trying to do some tweaks. I found this fault code yesterday and cleared it. I scanned it again this morning and it popped up again. I searched and did not foud anything. No check engine light.

View 9 RepliesEPC light coming on intermittently on the morning causing loss of traction control and cruise control, occurred 4 times in 6 months. No fault code logged in, no CEL in dashboard. The dealer checked for logged codes, none. Also had one time the low coolant level display in dash all during one ride to work (30 km) the coolant tank was full and even if I was cycling the ignition switch it was still displaying it. Back from work it was disappeared and never came back on. all EPC light coming on at morning, and ok when coming back from work 9 hours later. Any clue on this?
Car is 2007 Passat Wagon with 2.0T FSI 6 spd manual
The truck belongs to a very good customer of mine and is a 05 f350sd 6.0 td with 5r110 torqshift tranny. The vehicle presents with these symptoms and codes....
-there is a delay from p to r and its intermittent, sometimes it will be in a weak reverse where it wont creep unless you give it some gas, sometimes it will hit reverse hard after this. sometimes it bangs reverse
-there is a delay into drive intermittently with the same symptoms as reverse where sometimes it bangs and sometimes it will take a little throttle to get it moving
-once the trans is hot (operating temperature) it has trouble downshifting. my solus tells me sometimes it tries to start off in 3 or 5 then sometimes it will bang back down into first and almost chirp tire with little throttle input
-tow haul light will flash after several miles and then it only has 1-2-3-4 no 5-6. then the starting off symptoms get worse
-throws codes for
p0766 shift sol d performance/stuck
p2701 friction element b apply time range/performance
p2703 friction element d apply time range/performance
p0700 trans control system fault.
So far the ideas i have are as follows
replace solenoid D
direct clutch replacement and seals for corresponding drum
torque converter replacement and pump replacement
harness rub through between pcm and transmission
The truck has had similar issues a year ago. Upon testing line pressure i found it was out of spec and replaced the epc. (electronic pressure control solenoid) and this cleared most of it up . I have had the pan down many times and the fluid has not been burnt and there is little debris in the pan. nothing i would consider beyond normal wear. Tomorrow I will be dropping the pan again to inspect the magnet and fluid as well as the condition of the harness. i will post my findings at that time. I am hoping between now and then some of you will be able to point out a few possibilities to get me on the right track.
2000 GM Buick Regal. Parked the car overnight and in the morning could not start the car. Mechanic said the BMC memory was completely lost. I would like to avoid this happening again. Car battery is 6 months old and strong. What would cause a total memory loss in a BCM when parked in a lot overnight.
View 2 RepliesHyundai Tucson 2005 sat outside for 10 days in summer heat and two days of thunder and lighting. I am original owner and this car has always started and runs great. After sitting for 10 days, it would not start. The motor turned well by the starter but no ignition. Towed to my mechanic and explanation was the electronic control memory was wiped clean. It took two hours of reprogramming and $170.00 to get it working. There was no need to replace any electrical components and at present the car is running fine. My question is what caused this? How could an on-board computer memory spontaneously be erased, and will this trouble reappear down the road?
