A mechanic recently replaced the pads of the front brakes. After the service, the break makes squeaking noise when I release the break pedal. According to the mechanic, it is normal, and I better ignore the noise. Is it true?
View 1 RepliesMy right front disc brake started making a squeaking noise at about 50,000 miles when I applied the brakes. It was on and off at first but became more frequent. It wasn't a grinding noise and it wasn't the sensors for a low pad. I changed the pads and after about 2 weeks I started getting a grinding noise when I'd apply the brakes. I checked the pads and they were fine. After a few months I replaced the pads, grinding happened again after a few weeks of wear. Within the next few months I replaced the pads again, each time trying different types. Had the rotors turned recently and again, new pads. The grinding is gone but after a few weeks the brake makes a chirping sound now when applied. They work fine in stopping the car.

This morning as I pulled into a parking lot shifting into first gear I turn the wheel and heard a squeaky clicking sound that I could slightly feel in the gas pedal. It happened 3 more times when I pulled out of my parking spot and into another lot.

The noise gets louder as the car goes faster, but the pitch of the squeal doesn't go up.
I traded my 2007 Prius for the 2010 III Prius on 5/30. I had 5 wonderful days with it and on the 6th day, it started.
There is a loud creaking noise when the brake pedal is pushed and released.
The dealership contacted Toyota and did everything that was suggested to correct the problem and no luck.
My father purchased the 2015 GX460 this past January and the car currently has 4,500 miles. The first complementary oil change was completed in July. I feel that the brake of his GX460 is not sensitive enough, and I have to step on the brake very hard to feel the truck stopping. Does every GX460 owner feel the same way? I told my father about this, and he said I'm just not used to it. I'm thinking about taking his truck back to Lexus to check it out.
The dashboard so far doesn't indicate any ABS problem. By the way, I'm an owner of a 2014 IS350 F-Sports, and my 350's brakes are much better in my opinion. I'm not sure whether my experience of my 350, which has larger brake calipers for its size, has influenced me to draw such conclusion about the GX460 brakes.
Also, I notice that when I step on/release the GX460 pedals, I hear some noise that sounds like air. Did some research about this on the forum, and some of you have that too. I still don't understand this issue.
I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX 1.7L. Recently the brake pedal would sometimes go to the floor when I'd apply the brakes. The car would still stop, but not as quickly as normally. If I apply the brake and it goes to the floor I would release the pedal and reapply the brake and it would stop at it's normal position and the brakes felt firm and the car would stop fine. I was told my problem was the master cylinder so I bought one on Sunday and replaced it. I bled the lines and it seemed like all the air was out. The brakes worked great and the pedal stopped in the same place and was firm.
Now today on my way to work the pedal went down a little farther than normal during one stop. On the way home it stopped in different places. The brakes would always grab and the pedal felt fairly firm wherever it stopped. I drove it this evening again and the pedal went to the floor like with the old master cylinder. One pump and they grabbed in the normal spot. What is going on? Did I not bleed the lines well enough? Is the new master cylinder just junk? I saw in the manual that air can get trapped in the ABS sensor, but an air bubble problem should just make the pedal squishy, not change where it grabs, right? I'm stumped and I really don't want to take my car in if I can fix it.
My 2011 Honda Civic makes a grinding / squeaking sort of noise when I start it after it has been sitting out in the rain - either for several hours or overnight. The noise seems a bit like the noise when you crank the car but the engine doesn't start. It happens after rain or a snow, so it would seem that moisture is getting into a place it shouldn't. The dealership checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong or anything that would prevent it from starting. They also told me that this noise might well go away after the first oil change - that the additives in the oil now are suppose to seal things.

Service at 30K showed brake pads to be okay. I did my own inspection and agreed. I took it to the dealer this morning (I've always had problems with them so I'm used to having to fight and try to get a good price) Dealer says I need Fron Brake Pads (to me they still look okay) and this is what's causing the problem. I'm going to replace them and advised them to drive the car after completion to check the front Drive Shaft since this seems to be a problem with this vehicle.
Concerns: Brake Light sensor did NOT come on. Squeaking noise = Could be Front Shaft.
I drive a 1998 Civic hatchback. Last night while I was driving I needed some gas. I pulled into a station and the only gas they had available was 93 (highest octane). I only ever fill up with 87 or whatever the lowest grade is, so I put 2 gallons in to get me to my destination and the opportunity to find another gas station. Shortly after, I was back on the highway and the engine starts making a loud rattling pinging noise when I step on the gas. I normally might have a low rattle or ping that I've never been able to get rid of, but never loud like this.
Then a few things happened– smoke starts coming out the exhaust, the check engine light comes on, and the car starts to overheat. Seems like it was pretty much all at once, although it was in that order that I noticed... I rolled the windows down and turn the heat on high, but the air coming through the system wasn't at all hot. I got off the highway and as I downshifted, the engine started to smoke a little. I get to the end of the off-ramp and the engine dies. It wouldn't start back up right away but I managed to start it a couple of times (between it dying) to get it to coast into a parking lot. Under the hood, there was coolant everywhere it seemed, but I couldn't see anything else apparently wrong– hoses, etc.
In the end I had AAA tow it home. So, what happened and what I'm looking at now in terms of repairs? I will need to have it towed again to a mechanic if it is something I can't figure out myself.
My brake pedal squeaks when I release it, for the last two weeks. Does this mean I need maintenance, repair, or some oil?

My rear brakes developed a squeal when the brake pedal was released. My dealer replaced the rear brakes & disks at about 57000 miles. I had taken a salesman from the dealer to get an appraisal & he told me that it sounded like a simple adjustment would fix it. 2005 Elantra
View 1 RepliesMy aunt recently purchased a new 2016 sonata trim is se, I believe its the base model version, I test drove her car after she bought it home from the dealer and noticed right away that when I release the brake pedal from a dead stop, foot off the brake but not on the gas pedal yet, the engine hesitates / shakes. This happens most of the time but not all of the time. I noticed this when the car had only 100 miles on it...is this a Hyundai feature?

When I release the brake pedal too fast, the brake pedal bounces back with sound which is a little bit loud to me. I feel the sound is from the spring if there's one. It's annoying so I have to remove my foot from the brake very slowly. Is it normal?
View 20 RepliesMy daughter has bought a 2003 4 door accent and on the way to work she lost most of the brakes. I could not see any fluid leaking and the level was ok. I did try pushing on the brake pedal with my hand and it was making a noise like a clicking? I was thinking it was just the brake light switch but not sure. The place she bought it from put new brakes on it when the driver side was getting really hot. I am thinking maybe air in the system? It sounded like a caliper was sticking when I test drove it but only a couple of times. You would have some brakes but you had to pump the peddle.It is in a parking lot right now but I can work on it unless it is some sort of different? I am going to try to bleed it in a little bit but was thinking I should ask around. I read that the piston could be sticking but can you just rebuild the master cylinder to fix it if that is what it is? I could pull the pedal back a little bit. I only looked at for 4 or 5 minutes kinda dark and no tools with me.
View 10 RepliesWe have a new 2015 Prius with 6k on it and we are noticing one solid brief single click when the brake pedal is pressed and/or released. It doesn't happen every time (just some of the time) but it is only noticeable at slow speeds.
View 19 RepliesMy less than 7000 miles RX started making noise when I pushed the brake pedal. Evidently it sounded like the "LS brake squawk" according to service foreman. Not sure if the actuator is same in all RXs.
View 3 RepliesLately my cars been shaking pretty bad and making a thumping noise when i have the brake pedal about halfway down. Doesn't seem good. What it could be? also it makes a pretty loud whining type noise when the cars on think its a pulley or water pump but not too sure.
View 3 RepliesMy brake pedal is making a creaking noise when depressed and can also be heard when letting off the pedal. The noise is not coming from the brakes themselves (front/back are like new) but the pedal area or somewhere behind it. This noise doesn't start until I've driven the car for a little while. The brakes work fine for the most part but sometimes feel a bit spongy if making a sudden or hard stop. The fluid levels are fine.
I'm taking it in on Friday and hoping that the brakes just need to be bled a little or maybe the pedal just needs lube, but I'm worried it might be the booster or master cylinder---if it is one of these?
