My 97 Civic DX Coupe has 74,400 miles. In recent months it has started making a grumbling kind of muted creaking sound when I make any hard turn, does so on any 90 degree turn unless I take it slow and gradual. It has never made this sound before so I wondering what is up.
View 2 RepliesI carried eleven 40 lb bags of dirt in my Honda Civic (1998) - in the trunk and backseat - and then drove about two miles with the dirt in my car. After unloading the dirt, when I got back into the car I heard a distinct squeaking sound - like something in the suspension moving or creaking - the sound seemed to come from the middle of the car. I started up my car and there was no sound but as soon as I began to drive I noticed that my car was leaning distinctly to the left and there was a rubbing and squealing sound coming from the left front end of the car - or so I think. I got out to check whether there was anything hitting the tire, but there wasn't.
I didn't drive the car very far, except to park it. The car is drivable, but just makes an unbelievably loud squealing/rubbing noise now. It does not pull to the left, but is leaning to the left as if something broke or cracked or I have a flat tire (which I don't).
I've carried heavy loads before - but perhaps this was the last for my Honda. I thought it might be the suspension, then maybe cracked CV boots. I have 129,000 on the car and have kept up maintenance on it.
2001 F 150 5.4 V8 4WD. I have a weird creaking sound coming from the front end, sounds like the passenger side, whenever I turn right at any speed. What it is?
View 6 RepliesSo due to the icy road conditions, I swerved into a curb hitting the front passenger wheel going about 15-20 km/hr. Had a wheel alignment done and they said there are no bent parts other than a dent on the rim itself, but I'm hearing this strange rattling/drilling sound every time I decelerate. It sounds like I may have damaged the wheel bearing or CV joint?

I have a 1997 Honda Civic and just recently, when the car turns right, a grinding sound emanates from the wheel.It sounds like the break pads rubbing up against the disk but this only happens on turns or if I stop, and put the car in reverse briefly.Could this be an issue with the calipers or would this likely be a wore out wheel bearing?I have heard a faint whistle coming from the tire when driving down the freeway but that is also intermittent and I don't hear the occasional whirring sound typical of a worn out bearing.I'll pull the wheel off today and check it out but I thought I'd bring it up and see what the group thinks.
View 12 RepliesI own a 2010 ford f150 that make a grumbling sound when i turn. the dealeship has replaced the clutches for the limited slip rear end 2 times now and it is happening again. they told me that the ford engineers are working on the problem but they do not have a fix for it yet. So they told me to just drive it with the positive traction engaged until they get a fix for it. Not exactly the answer I was looking for.

Sounds like a note on a flute, and doesn't sound like grinding. It only happens when backing up. As soon as I stop, shift and go forward the sound goes away. Began 2-days ago. I try to find parking spaces where I don't have to back up.

The odd thing is that it sounds like it is coming from the center console. I've moved it all the way forward, all the way back and removed the contents of the console...no luck.
My searches didn't find anything close to my scenario. I know that there's a TSB for the front seat pins, but my sound isn't coming from the front seat.
I know this can bring many speculations. I've recently install new 034 strut mounts and new bearings. Stiffer mounts and the new bearings took care of the "compression" noise going over bumps. The bearings were shot.
Just returned from a trip, driving the R now I've notice a slight creaking noise while making left or right full turns at slow speed. I haven't noticed it at high speed yet or maybe its because our cars are pretty loud with an aftermarket exhaust but i don't suspect there's noise going straight.
I tried to see if there's anything out of the ordinary. I noticed that the driver side spring moves slight while the steering wheel is turned either left or right. I suspect that this slight movement is causing the spring to rub on a rubber component of the wheel bearing thus causing the noise.
I recently started noticing that a creaking sound occasionally (but increasingly) when turning my 2005 Nissan Altima. It seems to happen more after storms, significant temperature changes, and in the morning. It happens when turning in either direction.
It doesn't always happen, and I don't feel any grinding or disturbance in the wheel when turning. I rolled the window down to see if I could hear any more clicking or popping when turning, but I don't really seem to hear it outside of the car. It seems like it's almost emanating from the steering column.
The sound is not a steady popping or clicking sound. It sounds more a slow creak, like you'd think of hearing on a door in an old scary movie. I think I've heard a click here and there, but I can't be certain for sure.

Getting a creak sounds like near struts at slow speeds and turning , it stopped when it got cold, but on the first warm day today its back . I did replace the struts, bearings and seats, but have to admit I used the cheapos . I just cant find where its creaking from...

When it started happening it would only occur at very low speeds and then it would stop, now it happens all the time unless i'm turning. I've heard it could be bushings but I'm not sure. What weirds me out is a lot of the time it'll stop either when I'm turning or if I shift into neutral.

Whenever I make a sharp (think turning into driveway) turn left or right, my car makes a knocking noise. Not a clicking, but I recreated the noise by knocking 2 plastic cups together. 2012 Honda Civic LX.

View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 Honda Civic with about 67,000 kms. There's a mechanical squealing noise that's started over the last week when I accelerate and turn. It's coming from all 4 wheel areas. It only seems to disappear when I brake. Although if I run/accelerate the car for longer than 5 mins, it disappears as well. Additionally, there's a stretching/groaning noise from the tire area when I reverse. I'm thinking it's probably shock or suspension related.

For last 5 months or so, I have to keep full tank of gas. If the tank is half, the car starts stalling, and the first sign of it is when I am taking a sharp right turn on highway exit. It's like the engine dies for a second or two and comes back when the right turn is over. If I keep driving and the tanks get lower, it will happen even without the right turn. I just fill up the tank and the problem is fixed.
Check engine light is on sometimes (but not always) with these codes P0171B and P0497, but I am not sure it's related.
There is sometime also a short delay in starting the car, irrelevant if the tank is full, (a second or two of extra cranking) but that might be a different issue too.
Ok my car is not starting. It is not turning over when you turn the key and push in the clutch. I can here a relay click under the drivers side dash. I can push start it and it runs great, sometimes it will start and run fine but it is a frequent problem now. What could be causing me these problems. 1991 Honda Civic DX ....
View 10 RepliesI have a 1999 honda civic that has had an issue with randomly shutting off lately. It always happens within a minute of me turning the car on and I usually have to wait several minutes before the car will crank again. When it does the engine shuts off and all lights immediately go off. Once I finally do get the car to crank its hit or miss if it will stay running, but if it makes it through the first minute or so its usually golden. Its like it has to have a perfect connection or something or it wont stay on. The only suggestion I've had from someone is possibly the ignition being bad.
View 12 RepliesI have an 04Honda Civic manual transmission that suddenly started making an ugly groaning sound whenever i accelerate, apply the brakes, or turn. It sounds like a metal-on-metal noise like something is loose or cracked. It even happens if I turn the steering wheel when the car is stationary. I tried to listen to where it's coming from, but all I can tell is that it's somewhere in the front suspension.
Mechanic said he didn't see anything wrong on the front suspension, but recommended replacing rear control arms.
I have a 2001 Honda civic. Great car, so far. I need to replace the catalytic converter, however I just passed smog shortly prior to the cc going out so I've been putting it off (bad, I know).
When I drive in the lower gears, 1st and 2nd, the car makes a much louder than normal ggggrrrrrrr sound. Don't know quite how to describe it. Especially when turning corners.
Do I need a new transmission? Does my needing to replace the catalytic converter have anything to do with this?
