I have a '77 Chrysler New Yorker with the 450 engine. I'm told the electronic leaning module is out and apparently unreplaceable: can't find any parts anywhere. The car won't run w/o it. Somebody said I could maybe install some sort of after market carb conversion?
View 1 RepliesI have a 92 (3.3L) New Yorker 5th Avenue that has makes the car jerk badly going uphill and occasionally makes a backfire / misfire noise. It is a general jerking, not localized (right / left front) by feel. It starts ok and runs smoothly at idle but once you put it in drive and start acceleration, it begins to jerk. It has over 200k mi. I have had the fuel filter replaced, new plugs and plug wires put on. Mechanics have ran codes on the engine and transmission and tell me that no bad codes show up.
View 5 RepliesI have an 88 New Yorker whose digital amp gauge swings between its lowest and highest setting this makes the audio command center report electrical malfunction service immediately. Shortly after the car dies it will restart after 15 to 30 minutes. It doesn't throw any relevant codes, has had the alternator replaced still no luck.
View 8 RepliesI am looking to purchase a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker and when I test drove it I noticed that every time the brake pedal was pushed a mechanical whirring noise was audible. This happened every time the brake was pushed whether the car was moving or not. The car brakes seemed to work fine and there were no other noises associated with normal brake problems. The noise seemed to come from inside the car. What that might be? Also, any other reasons to not buy a 93 New Yorker with about 115,000 miles on it for cheap?

Yes I have the air suspension and was thinking if the air suspension has something to do with it. I have about 92000 miles on it right now and no warranty. How much this would cost and is it safe to drive.
View 12 RepliesTook my 99 XLT super cab to a Ford dealer to have a new key made (I have only one so can't do it myself). I was told the PAT (Passive Anti-Theft) module wouldn't communicate with their system.....
As I understand it, the PAT module communicates wirelessly to the key module under the steering column. Since the PAT module is obviously working (the truck cranks, starts and runs fine). What are they talking about?
After a few people telling me that the truck is leaning on the back corner, I checked it today, will check again tomorrow in the street or another parking lot, but here is what I measured at all 4 wheels. The below measurements are all from floor to top of wheel well
These maybe the street causing the difference.
Front Pass = 35 1/4"
Front Driver = 35 1/2"
These are way off, so seems something has happened in this back corner.
Back Pass = 37"
Back Driver = 37 3/4"
Because of the 3/4" difference, what are some things to inspect to see if something is damage to cause such a big difference? Could the shocks be bad already? its a 2011 XLT SCrew with around 76k miles.
I am doing an sas on my 93 f150 short bed. my issue is that I've made coil spacers out of 1/2" thick by 3" tall by 4" in dia.... as you can see strength is not an issue here. i bought 6" lift coils for a 93' then decided to just say f it and throw a d44 straight axle under it. the springs on a 78' d44 are the same dia. top to bottom. 93' springs get smaller at the bottom so i made this spacer for two reasons.... 1 to have smaller seat for the bottom of the coil.. and 2 so i could make up the spring length difference between the two springs. The spacers are leaning forward due to the 7 degree c bushings on the radius arms.

View 1 RepliesI noticed my 16 ccsb 4WD lariat 6.2 was slightly leaning to one side in a parking lot yesterday. My driveway at home is dirt and far from level so I would never notice at home. So before I pulled out of the parking spot I got my tape measure out. I've got 41.5 inches from ground to top of wheel well on the drivers side rear. On the passenger side rear I've got 42.25 inches from ground to top of wheel well.
So darn it the truck is 3/4 inch leaning to the driver side. Is this normal? I can understand it not being exact to the millimeter however 3/4 inch seems to me like a lot of tolerance. The bed was empty when i measured and Air pressure in both rear tires is 70psi. I did pull a load with about 2,000 pounds tongue weight the other day however that shouldn't make any difference.
My 95 F150 2WD. The passenger side wheel is leaning in(top) - toed in? and I am A. concerned that this is unsafe to drive it and B. What is the most likely cause and fix? I was just looking for a starting point.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 Tacoma 4x4 and until recently everything was fine. I even got almost 75000 miles out of the stock tires. About a month after the new tires the battery died so I replaced it. Since then the front seems to have a slight vibration and a slight noise. Kinda sounds like when you hear a 4x4 with big mudder tires on pavement. Both the vibration and sound are so slight that others cannot hear or feel it, I just notice having driven it for over 5 years, mostly highway.
When rotating my tires I noticed the front "axles" (don't know the proper name) turn with the tires. With the wheel off I tried holding the "axle" while turning the disk brake but it was as if the hub was locked in. A neighbor who seemed to think he'd heard of it before asked if I'd changed out the batter or had to disconnect it which of course I had. He said that maybe the electronic hubs were not unlocking. The tires still spin freely as the transfer case is not engaged but both of the axles coming from it spin with the tires.

View 11 RepliesI have a 2008 Chevy HHR. The last few days my electronic power steering has been on and off. I've changed the fuse, but that did not take care of the problem. When I start driving each time the EPS seems to start out fine. At some point , usually mid-turn, the power steering goes out. Anytime that I turn the steering wheel I hear a clicking or switching sound similar to what you might hear when you use a turn signal. After stopping and turning the car off for a period of time and then jumping back in the car to continue the day it all starts over.

2006 VW Passat VR6 4Motion - started the car and the electronic brake light was on. Pressed to release it it would not release. Pulled the key out and started and turned off the car several times still nothing. Tried it again and it released the electronic brake lights. Is it something I should worry about. By the way called the friendly local VW dealership when I got the "release electronic brake manually" and none of their techs know how or if that could be done.
View 1 RepliesGot in my 2007 LS460 and it wouldn't start. No power, no clicking, nothing. I checked the battery terminals and noticed they has some corrosion so I cleaned them and reattached. Nothing. I found that if I jiggled the positive cable the power would light up my dashboard with every light / radio, but it still wouldn't start....and I had to disconnect the cable in order to turn the power off. I had the car towed to a trusted Toyota/Lexus repair shop I've used for 15 years. They connected the cables to the battery and it started right up....but the power steering is out. They tried multiple things to get it working with no success. The only option now is to replace the electronic power steering unit.
View 3 RepliesI went skiiing this past weekend in Angel Fire, NM. When it was time to leave on Sunday I started the car and proceeded to undo the parking brake (I was parked on a n incline). As I press the button I get a message saying something like "Electronic Parking Brake Fault. Please Service". Then I press it again and it works. Is this something I can expect more of, or could it be due to the cold weather? It was 13F outside then at the time, and the car is a 2006 with 52K on it.
View 14 RepliesI have taken it to 3 different dealer service centers, and everytime they charge me to update the computer software. They still haven't fixed anything, and everytime I leave the dealer after "getting it fixed", within 25 miles the problem reoccurs. According to my owner's manual the electronic throttle control malfunction warning light is only on the Hemi Rams.
The problem causes the truck to jerk, idle improperly, the engine loses power and shuts off at low speeds usually when turning, and sometimes when the truck accelerates after a complete stop, it hesitates causing the tires to screech when it finally builds up enough RPM to move, this last one has caused me several explanations to police officers on why I am "laying rubber" on their city streets, as if the Hemi emblem doesn't attract enough unwanted attention from the local highway law enforcement officers..
Ever notice when you shut off the engine and get out of your tig sometimes there is a motor whizzing sound near the rear? Well I finally noticed what it was. Just so happened to be looking down at my electronic parking brake when the sound occurred and noticed the indicating light on my parking brake turn on and off with the sound. It must be cycling the parking brake to keep it in good working order.
