I have a 02 Trailblazer that on Monday it gave me a code of P0300 (Random misfire), then two days later P0301 (Number one misfire); (I replaced plugs, boots and cam sensor) ran fine for 1 day now its a P0758 code (Shift solenoid B Electrical).

Backstory. The P0411 code shes had for quite some time. I think probably 4 years maybe. Just never did anything about it because I guess they are expensive to fix. Thats the SAIP and combi valve correct? Anyway to remove all the emissions stuff and get the codes deleted?
So, about 3 weeks ago, maybe a little longer i cleaned her engine bay, replaced a few vacuum lines because the shop she took it to last year did a terrible job. Mind you, they did a head gasket, timing belt and some other minor things while they were in there. And they couldn't take the time you run new vacuum lines, since they just cut the originals and used a bunch of t fittings to "solve" the problem.
Anyway, i replaced the lines and it seemed to run better at idle, still had a little mis at idle but ran smooth at speed. I also did an oil change, put some fuel injector cleaner in it, put some seafoam in the oil, and cleaned the engine bay thoroughly. I did it properly and took all the plastics off, cleaned them, scrubbed the bay and used an air hose to get rid of the excess water. Left in a nice state. Ran smoother, looked better, so on and so forth.
Fast forward to last week, and she mentions to me her car isnt running right. Its sputtering, hesitates, running rough, exhaust is puttering, and it used up a lot of gas. She parked it for a few days, and i came down to look at it. Mind you, i don't have a code reader. So I looked at it blindly thinking it had an ignition issue. Nothing could have changed that quick since i looked at it.
So, today we got one coil(just in case ones bad), and 4 new plugs (Autolite Iridiums). Replaced and gaped the plugs to .030, torqued to 23 ft/lbs and started the car. Seemed to run a bit better, but subsided quickly. I then pulled each coil harness plug to make sure it would misfire on each cylinder and it did. So, new plugs and the coils checked out. Time to get its codes read.
Took it to the Pepboys and the codes it came back with were the P0011, P300, P0301-3. Cleared the codes and they came back nearly immediately. I had the dreaded P0011 code. The misfire codes im guessing were from the coils being pulled on each one, and also due to the P0011. Now i read a lot of threads about the P0011 and how its usually not the camshaft position sensor. However, i pulled the plug on that while the car was running and nothing changed. So i thought it could be the CPS. Changed that out and still nothing.....
'02 TB w/ code P0300 / Random misfire. Started the other day when it was very damp out, FWIW. Feels like ur driving on rumble strips during acceleration. Rough idle also. It does not do this continually though as after a while (minute) it clears up and runs smooth for a while then runs rough & light will again for a while. I seafoamed it today since it been about 60k since last seafoam. I thought that might have worked until I drove about 20 mile and it went rough again. I also cleaned the oil out of the cam sensor elect connector, since that caused rough running before, although it didn't throw that code. It seems to be very intermittent. '02 TB, 185k miles, orig plugs changed at 125k. Is it actually just going in & out of a limp-mode? O2 since it's random ???
View 14 Replies04 trailblazer, 4.2. Running rough and SES light on. Had codes pulled and showed p0340 (CMP sensor circuit malfunction) and p0300 (Multiple engine misfire detected). Replaced the CMP sensor and left negative battery cable unhooked for 20 minutes or so to clear the codes. Upon start up no more SES light and idle was slightly better. Within seconds it SES was back and it is again running poorly. Cruise control is no longer functional as well.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2000 Impala with a 3800 V6 series 2 with 165,000 miles. The only code I had was a P0300 Multiple random misfire that occured off and on at first, Worse in the city Better on Highway. It would start running on half the cylinders and bogged down, with the check engine light flashing, after getting onto the highway it would straighten itself out at first. I thought i had water in the gas so i ran some heat through it. straightened out for a day then happened again so I thought maybe a should run some premium gas in it, The car ran like total crap until the premium was gone, so i thought maybe it's running too rich, I put 87octane in it and it ran great for a day or two, then it gradually got worse to where it would not straighten up on the highway, tried to die at stoplights and i had to drive it with 2 feet to get it home and park it. I've replaced the battery, spark plugs, wires, ICM checked good, coil packs are good, replaced fuel Pressure regulator, looked for arcing on the spark plug heat shields and it will not start. It turns over but doesn't try to ignite and when I get the slightest rumble of ignition, it backfires up through the manifold and I see a puff of gas or light smoke by the exhaust manifold.
The car had a vacuum leak around the intake manifold cover gasket and a leak on the fuel rail. I pulled the fuel rail off my impala, snugged up the rest of the intake bolts then disassembled the fuel rail, flushed it out and cleaned the injectors the best i could, then reassembled it. before i re-installed the fuel rail I hooked it up to the fuel lines outside of the engine and tried to start the vehicle. all injectors had a nice spray pattern. So i installed the rail and it still didn't start but it had more combustion than before although it's still backfiring like before. Checked the fuel pressure by turning the key on and the fuel pressure went to zero very fast. I blew the rail out with air so to make sure i didn't damage the regulator I replaced it with the old one, ran the test again with same results, so i reinstalled the new regulator. I performed the fuel pressure test a few more times while moving the fuel hoses and when i moved the back supply line the vacuum loss stopped then dropped to zero when i let off of it. So I replaced the fuel line connector and O-rings on the injectors. It no longer has a vacuum leak.
I cleaned the EGR Valve out and had no luck there, then I removed the Idle Air Control Valve-pushed the pintle in, re-ionstalled it and WooHoo! it started! Although it still ran like crap with the same random misfire I was still happy to hear it start.I pulled the plugs on it to do a compression test and all 6 cylinders have between 180-190psi so the engine is in good condition mechanically. I installed new plugs before getting the car restarted and when i removed them for the test they were covered in thick black soot after running for roughly 15 minutes max.
I have (2) 2000 Chevy Impala's so I've swapped sensors from my wifes car to see if it would fix it. I've tested the following MAP, MAF, IAC, coil packs and ECM. None of these made the car change. I believe it is a timing chain because the car has never had a new timing chain and is way overdue, but I haven't had a code for a crankshaft position sensor. Can the timing chain be bad without throwing a code? It's not out of time enough to change the valve timing because I had a good compression test but its not firing right and still has the multiple random misfire. I have not checked or received a trouble code for o2 sensors, crankshaft position sensor or cam sensor. Something has the timing retarded and is dumping extra fuel into the engine because my new plugs looked like they were in the engine for a year.
My 03 Chev Avalanche is giving me a P0300 code (multiple or random misfire). With no distributor or individual coil is this something I can fix myself or is it shop time?

All parts listed are new between aug and now. I repaired engine as follows new head & bolts head gasket timing belt water pump coolant flange on drivers side new fuel rail and injectors car also has new coil pack, new VW plug wires and 1 week ago new iridium plugs my brother didn?t want car, so i bought it from him. Ran great after I rebuilt top end.
Car did 140 on the turnpike & ran great. once or twice while giving moderate to high throttle CEL would flash and I pulled P0300 as a pending code. Problem stopped after 2 days. last week after 4 hrs of idling(don't ask) started misfiring and CEL flashes constantly P0301 The misfire seems worse at idle and low speed. Car will get to highway speed but has bad pickup. This is what I?ve done/checked New iridium plugs Plug wires 4.5 ohms Coil pack is good and producing enough spark at each wire MAF sensor cleaned Cyl 1 compression good all injectors are clicking and when disconnected cause appropriate CEL error code Brought car to VW dealer for diagnosis VAG COM shows multiple misfire on cyl 1 Mechanic confirmed all the steps I took and components tested ok. He tried new coil pack, new plug and wire for cyl 1 and no change.
I've got the intermittent misfire codes on my '02 Camry, and after changing the spark plugs and the ignition coils the problem still persists.
At first there was no noticeable misfire, I took it to two different mechanics and neither said they could find anything wrong. A few weeks later the misfire became noticeable when I'm sitting at a stop light. I can feel an occasional rumble in the engine.
I have a 2001 Passat 1.8 Turbo engine trim is AUG. My car is acting funny since yesterday. When i start my car it idles rough and CEL start flashing but as soon as i drive at like 10-15 MPH speed it becomes smooth and CEL stops blinking. I took my car to autozone and have it scanned got P0340 P0300 P0301 and P0302. It means random misfire and misfire in cylinder 1 and 2. I am not getting the misfire code for cylinder 3AND 4.
I swap coil boot 1,2 with 3 and 4. But misfire didn't move with cylinder. So i waited whole night reset CEL and swap coil 1 with 4 and 2 with 3. Have i scanned again not i am getting P0300 = random misfire and P0302 = misfire in cylinder 2. I didn't get P0301 this time.
This morning I started my car and it was idling a little rough. The the Check Engine light began flashing - I immediately turned off the car and consulted this forum and my father the mechanic. After talking with my Dad and telling him that the car had sat for a week, he thought the issue was probably NOT the catalytic converter and thought it was probably related to the car sitting and possibly getting moisture in the gas. I started the car again (the roughness at idle seemed to have gone away) but the check engine light/malfunction indicator light (MIL) did not flash, it did come back on after a few seconds, but as a solid light . And as we've all read, it's OK to drive with a solid MIL.
I took the car over to Autozone and had the codes checked - P0300 (multiple cylinder miss fire) and P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire). I asked them to clear the codes. I has just put in new NGK spark plugs last month, so I didn't think it would be the plugs. I looked at a new coil pack for one of the cylinders. I decided to see if clearing the codes alone would work and drove home. No issues so far, no MIL, no rough idle, no hesitation (fingers crossed).
When I called the stearleship - they recommended I have the car towed, but would not speculate as to what the flashing MIL could be (catalytic converter or bad coil pack(s))...
i have a 01 passat with a v6 in it on 4 motion and im having an issue with soem mis-firing
i pulled the codes. P0300 P0301 P0302 and P0303 which are all saying that there are missfires in cylander 1,2 and 3 and random miss fires.
im also getting a P0340 which is cam sensor A or the right hand bank. problem is i just replaced the cam sensor and when the motor got warm, the code came back. I was told by the previous owner that the car needed a Coolant Temp Sensor....can this be the cause of my mis-fire issue? hear me out.... it only happens when the car is warm so im thinking that the car is warm but the ecu thinks its cold cause its not getting a good signal from the CTS. thus its either advancing the timing as if the motor is cold and cuasing a miss fire or something along those lines. any thoughts?
I have a 2002 trailblazer that will start fine in the morning and after it sits for an hour or two, but once i start it and run it for over ten minutes and i shut it off when i try to re-start it, it will crank but won't start. the dealer cleaned the throttle body and injectors, check the fuel pump for presure and it was fine,and they got no error codes?????? I've read that in can be the ignition switch??

Just curious because during a recent trip to the dealership for an oil change a mechanic told me I had one(I had mentioned I heard a noise that seemed to speed up and slow down as I drove-kind of a whirring noise). He arrived at that diagnosis by pushing down on the hood with enough force to make the vehicle(2002 Chevy Trail Blazer w/4wd) bounce up and down - there was a clunking noise. I haven't taken it in to have it looked at more closely, mainly because I am afraid of the cost. What's involved in replacing a drive shaft? What's the cost? If it is really "bad" will it break suddenly and cause an accident?
View 2 RepliesJust got a 98 f150 w/ 5.4 4x4 excab. It idles fine but under light accleration. It starts bucking and missing bad, if I step on it, it down shifts and accelerates fine. If I try to maintain one speed it misses bad. It is not throwing any codes right now. The check engine light did come on for like a minute but went back off before I could have it read. I hooked up a scanner just to see if any codes were stored and got p0300 and p0301. I am going to clean the MAF and check for vacuum leaks. I hear the rear plug and coils can get water in them causing similar problems.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2002 chevy Trailblazer that when you put it into drive there is a vibration.It does not do this in park or neutral. I have checked the engine mounts and transmission mount, and they look good. The vehicle has a little over 118,000 miles on it and the engine runs and drives great except for this vibration that i do not know where it id coming from. What may be my problem?

View 7 RepliesWhen turning in both directions, front end makes a CHEEP-CHEEP-CHEEP-CHEEP-CHEEP sound. Frequency increases when speed increases.Brakes are NOT engaged when this happens. Goes away when coming out of turn.
I am sure the problems could be multiple, but what is your first thought? Not that it matters, but its a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer.
When I put my 2002 TrailBlazer into 4WD, it seems normal as long as I have my foot on the gas, but when I am "coasting" or just slowing down, the car feels like something is dragging on the engine is dragging--sort of like when one tries to drive with the parking brake engaged, or like when you shift to a lower gear in a car with a manual transmission and it slows the engine down. I don't recall this being a "feature" I've had before.
View 5 RepliesSo I'm writing this for my friend but he has a 1978 F-150 with a 1969 390 in it. He recently had a problem where his starter got stuck and it lit the wires connected to the solenoid up in flames. Well anyways we replaced all the wires that were attached to the solenoid and replaced the solenoid and the starter also. But after wiring it up it has no power whatsoever. The battery is also brand new and the fuse links are fine. What is causing this?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Kia Sportage 4WD. It runs great from fall thru winter and spring. But when summer comes and the ambient temp gets into the 80's it will run good for @ 5 to 10 miles then crap out. Sometimes it seems like it's starving for fuel but others its more of a misfire like electrical. I've replaced the fuel pressure regulator, the intake air temp sensor and even the catalytic converter. Spring is coming soon and I really like this car.
