My Sub makes a wonderful ticking noise that resembles a turn signal--it continues to tick until i apply the brakes. i have just replaced the brake switch and the noise is still there. All the lights on the vehicle are not illuminated while it is making the noise, it makes the noise while either driving or idling.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Toyota Highlander. The rear right turn signal and break light don't work when I apply the brakes. When I use the turn signal or brakes while driving or parked there is no problem, but once I apply the break the back right side does not work. The light bulbs also burn out faster on that side.

Brake and Tail lights are Normal Are some wires melted together someplace?I am at a loss as to where to start looking for the problem...
View 8 RepliesThis morning everything worked on a 1999 Suburban 4x4. One hour later, my blinkers (turn signals) were not working. Flashers were.
I checked the fuse (fuse 16) for the turning signals - blown. I bought some fuses - replaced turn signal fuse. It blew immediately and then the hazards no longer worked. I replaced that fuse and the hazards lasted a few seconds.
Hazards & brake lights are on the same fuse (fuse 1) so I am left with no brake lights, hazards or turn signals - I am an accident waiting to happen!
I switched my cigarette lighter fuse for the hazards/brake light fuse - didn't start the car - and turned on the hazards. I heard the fuse blow immediately.
My husband put a new radio in last year at this time and has fog lights wired to it - but that was last year not last week...
I know trailer lights are attached to fuse 16 (turn signals). I bought this car used, but it does have a trailer hitch with wires that I have never used.
Where to even start looking for the short... a short that would cause the hazards/brake lights to short out also.
I have just swapped a new Vortec V-8 engine into my 1999 Chevrolet Suburban K1500 4*4, now when I start the truck and put it into reverse (foot still on brake pedal), I let off of the brake and the next time I step on the brake pedal the truck stalls. What would be causing this? I have no error codes on the computer, my fuel pressure is good, I just replaced the fuel pump. I think that it might be a sensor somewhere, but I am not sure where to look.
View 2 RepliesI have a '98 Jeep Wrangler with various problems, but the most recent one has to do with the turn signals. When I intentionally use them, they seem to be working, but when I haven't signaled I still hear the ticking sound, only double-time. The sound is normal when I turn the signal on, and only stops when I apply the brake. I recently took the top off and left the Jeep uncovered in a couple of storms. Could this have caused electrical damage? Also, the left turn signal has required some finesse for as long as I've had the car--I've always needed to fiddle with it to get it to turn on--so I'm wondering if it's a wire connection that has deteriorated over time.
View 3 RepliesEvery time I apply brakes I hear a weird humming noise, as well as no stopping power. Checked fluids and pads and everything is where it should be. I heard abs can cause this but not sure on that. I know my master cylinder has a very small leak but it hasn't lost any fluids of that sort. I'm lost. I don't know where else to look.
View 2 RepliesBuddy has a problem on his '03 F-450 cab and chassis. When he turns on a turn signal, everything is OK...but it goes out when he applies the brakes. Also, the brake failure light is lit up on the dash, despite the brakes being fine. These problems happened at the same time. I'm think a ground, but not sure where to look.

View 2 RepliesThe other day this started and hasnt quit. I was driving to work and after i used my turn signal and everything worked correctly and as it shoud except for the noise. The turn signal noise keeps ticking, sometimes at a fast pase, after i make a turn and the signal turns off. And will continue to do so even though i havent even used my turn signals.
View 7 RepliesA couple of months ago my turn signal ticker decided to keep ticking after I stopped using the signal. It would happen in either direction, full signal use with automatic return, and if only using the signal stalk to move over a lane (not fully pressing the stalk down). Problem went away but is now back. At first I thought a light bulb was out since the noise was kind of fast. All my bulbs light up and all functions are normal. It is only the noise that is the issue. My signal does not stay on when I get this extra noise. what can I do to fix it?
View 7 RepliesMy AM radio has terrible reception. There is humming noise that goes away when I apply the brakes. I will bring it to the dealer, but I know what they will say, "cannot duplicate problem" or "radio operation found to be normal".

View 4 RepliesI have a dry metal on metal squawk noise when I reverse, I have taken it to a VW dealer, and they say "there is nothing wrong", or that they "cannot find anything". The noise is not constant, just when I apply the brakes in reverse.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Suburban 1500, 4wd, 5.7, auto trans. 214,000 miles. Transmission had a complete rebuild in August 2015. Last few days when driving slowly (5 mph) there is a rhythmic clicking or ticking noise coming from the center of the vehicle, best I can tell with my limited hearing. Noise is variable with car speed. With rear axle on jack stands in gear and idling, and my kubota backed up to it for safety ,sound is still there. All U joints appear to be fine, they are tight and there is no sign of fresh rust at the bearing caps. All axle boots are fine, no holes or anything else. I originally thought front hub assembly but the jack stand test rules that out. Not sure what the heck it could be.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 Toyota Camry SE with just under 51,000 miles on it. Every time I put the car into reverse and accelerate to apprx. 2-4 MPH then apply the brakes, I hear a loud popping noise, and it sounds like it is coming from the passenger front wheel. Slight noise from the drivers front as well. This doesn't happen in Drive, only in reverse at a low rate of speed. My father and I have taken the front wheels off and tested it, seems to be a motor mount, curious if this seems rational or common in a newer car.
View 11 RepliesWhen I apply the brakes on and off while in park, I hear a "fluttering squeaking" noise. I examined the brake pads and calipers, and everything seems to be fine. I greased up all the brake hardware and no luck.
Also, I have a popping noise while making turns while I am not braking. I really doubt there is any connection with the brakes? I recently went testing in a parking lot, and while slightly turning from left to right I noticed the popping constantly. Keep in mind no brakes were applied.
Last year the dealer replaced the brake actuator and all arms were replaced. BTW, I am past my extended 100K warranty!!
I have had my certified 2010 Prius II, not two because it is a 2010 and 2010 used uppercase roman numerals for model designation, with 82000 miles about 3 months and sometimes when I apply the brakes I hear a high pitched whirring noise. I think the closest thing to compare it to would be a skill saw but not that loud.
View 2 RepliesSo I've started hearing a faint high-pitched noise when I apply my brakes. It's not EVERY time I apply the brakes, and it's not nearly as loud and annoying as the noise I hear other vehicles make when they need their brakes checked, but it's noticeable.
Also: There's a (possibly related) scratching/rattling noise that just started. I can only hear it with the windows down and it's not very loud. But it happens intermittently when the vehicle is moving or when it's braking, and it makes an almost sputtering sound when I slow to a stop. It will abruptly go silent before I'm fully stopped. Sometimes it cuts in and out, similar to when you've got a short in a speaker wire and the sound cuts in and out.
I'll be getting this checked out. Is this a "drop everything and go to the mechanic" issue, do you think, or more of a "get it looked at when you can"? I should note I haven't had any problems with the car actually braking (yet). It seems to function fine other than the new noises.
