Chevrolet - Hhr :: Transmission Malfunction - Won't Find The Right Gear?

My sister has a 2006 HHR which seems to be having some transmission/gear box issues. She took it to a local shop who did a diagnostic and told her that a sensor was going bad that delt with her gear shift. The HHR is a automatic but when she puts the car in park sometimes the doors don't automatically unlock like they are suppose to and she has some difficulty with putting it in park some times or getting it out. Also when driving she says it seems like there are problems with the transmission finding the right gear. However said she could not do any damage by driving it till she had the monies to get it fixed. Does this make any sense?

making a right turn and accelerating up a slight incline trans hangs in 2nd gear to 4000 rpm until I hit the + paddle. Dealer says this is normal for the DSG. I'm not buying it! Occasionally it is reluctant to upshift from 2nd on a straight way during normal acceleration. 2014 sel v6 dsg.

Well, driving down the road just like any other day. I go from 1st to 2nd gear. It feels like I missed a shift, no big deal decide to put it in 3rd. Missed 3rd gear...... weird, no big deal through it in 4th and was on my way. Got to a red light, no 1st or 2nd gear. Where 1st and 2nd gear are, it feels like there is nothing there when i tried to shift into gear. If I go into 3rd gear its now 1st gear, 4th gear is 2nd gear.Had a mechanic look at my car, and the linkage and clutch are fine. He feels that something minor broke inside the transmission.
A) What do you think might be broken?
B) How could this happen?
Driving my car like a baby, I am never hard on my clutch. No pre-warning, no bad sounds, and I have never had an issue with my transmission before. I am hoping I do not have to pull my transmission out but it looks like I may not have a choice...

I woke up and drove to a stop sign. When I tried to pull away the transmission raced like crazy, HIGH RPMS! But was barely moving. After about 8-15 mph it would finally catch 2nd gear. I check fluids frequently, and topped it off a few weeks ago, and when I finally got where I was able to stop, I looked and there was no fluid registering. So I put 2 quarts in to fill.... Then started the car and it would not go into any gear completely. I'd just feel a small thump, when I shifted. It will actually drop into gear after a while going straight, but it's stil revving HIGH and it won't completely go into reverse. Weirdest thing, the "Anti-Lock" light came on while all this was happening...

I just traded my MKIV GTI yesterday for an R32. Super happy.
But I have a question, Should I put in new tranny fluid? cause when I try to go fast and go from 1st to 2nd it gets blocked, but if I'm going slow and slowly feather the clutch it goes into the second fine.

So, I recently picked up mt 2000 vr6 has 200k on it runs great well taken care of. I was just driving not getting crazy or any sort of thing. it has ground in 2nd a little from when I got it. I put it in neutral then went to put it in 2nd and it went but nothing there. it will go into 2nd but won't stay and when I hold it in 2nd gear it just revs no noise or anything just sits and rolls. tried doing the reading but all I fold was 1st and 2nd I just have no 2nd.

I have a 2011 F150 EB SCREW 4x4. Built in september 2011. The issue seems to have started recently as follows:
1st incident- driving normal, came to stop, accelerate from stop (normally) and the truck was stuck in first gear. Pulled over, shut it off, waited, restarted and seemd ok.
2nd incident (today)- driving normal at around 40mph in 6th gear and all of a sudden the transmission violently jumped to 1st gear for no reason! Then slowly geared back up to 6th again.
Also, I have sometimes noticed that soon after startup, but adequately warmed up, the truck will seem to keep pulling forward at a stop light with the brakes on hard...rpm is at normal idle but it seems like the torque converter will not "let go".
I'm going to be calling the dealer but need feedback, especially regarding any TSB's, SSM's etc for this?

1995 Chevy Saburban, currently at 150,000 miles, Prior owner had transmission rebuilt prior to 100,000 miles. While towing my 18ft camper trailer on a recent trip every time I started off from a stop I had to really push on the gas to get going. At first I though the emergency brake was on, or I had a flat tire. I then noticed the automatic transmission was not shifting when I had it in D. Checked the transmission fluid and it was full. The transmission seems to be stuck in 3rd gear. When I move the shifter to 2 it will shift down. Reverse is also still working.

I have a 2007 Chevy Equinox with 104,500 mi. For the past 20,000 miles (2-1/2 yrs.) or so the transmission hesitates when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. When this happens, the engine revs and the wheels lose power for a second or two, and then the shift completes.It happens anywhere from once or twice a week, to once a month.It never produces a "Check Engine Light" nor a "Code" when scoped the same day.It is more of a nuisance, although doing it while pulling into traffic could cause a nasty safety issue.I have had it checked by independent mechanics and a local Chevy Dealership and nobody has an answer.

I have a 2002 Chevy S10 ZR2 4x4, the transmission will shift through 1st and 2nd gear up to 30mph then will not shift anymore. I have notice if you are easy on the gas you make get lucky to shift into 3rd, but the transmission downshifts to 2nd and only 30mph. I've tried shifting into 3rd manually, if the rpm is high it will not shift into 3rd but if they're low it will shift and if you press the accelerator just a little harder it will shift back to second and speed will drop to 30mph. I've changed transmission fluid and filter. The fluid was dark. I put DEX VI transmission fluid back in. Problem still exist.
I just have so much to explain and not sure how. I bought this truck from a person who bought this truck brand new in 2002. He was always kept the truck maintenance but he said he has never changed the transmission fluid. The truck has 276,000 miles but they are mostly highway miles from driving from NC to DC and back. I can assure you guys this truck hasn't been "dogged". I read one forum and someone said to changed the ignition switch wire harness. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I only seen one person say that and I'm not sure if it works.

Have a 2002 avalanche Z71. Transmission was rebuilt 33k ago. It currently shifts a little hard going from 1 to 2nd. Real problem shows up between 40 mph and 50 mph. It suddenly shifts into overdrive which drops the engine rpm waaay down and starts lugging the engine.
Took it back to the guys who did the rebuild. They drove it around and noticed that the computer reported no codes. They claimed it was the TPS and said to replace it. I did. Problem is still there.
Took it to a highly trusted mechanic. They said they think the valve body needs replacing but they don't do transmissions. The guy they recommend drove it around and he thinks it is the torque converter.
I am wondering what causes the computer to decide when it is time to shift into overdrive and I am wondering if there is some sensor that has gone whacko and needs to be replaced instead of starting to tear the transmission apart.

My 2003 Corvette has 17,000 gentle miles on it. At around 15,000 miles I found that I couldn't get the car into 5th gear. It has a grinding metallic sound. All the other gears and the clutch work fine - and I've been forced to shift from 4th to 6th.

I have a 1998 chevy blazer v6 about 127024 miles. My transmission shifts hard out of first gear when i get to 4 gear and it shifts hard. When car warms up really good car shifts find out of first gear but 4th gear still shifts hard. I did change transmission fluid and new filter in it and I check fluid level and it's full.

The car is 1985 Chevrolet Cavalier with automatic transmission.I had the engine stall several times and I coasted sometimes for a quarter of a mile with the transmission in gear. Can this cause damage to transmission?Later on I wised up and moved the shifter to neutral when the engine stalled.When I coasted in gear, I was getting some vibration that smoothed out when I put it in neutral.

I have a 2012 Cruze with a manual transmission. I have 43000 miles. When I down shift into 2nd gear I get a whining noise from under the car. I can shift it with no issues and no noise but when down shifting or turning in 2nd gear it whines.

Driving home today I was cruising along hwy about 50mph. I threw the shifter over to the manual mode and noticed immediately that it must put it into a lower gear than I was in when I was in automatic bc the rpm jumped up a little higher. I think it put me in 4th or 5th?? I put it back in auto mode and rpms went back to normal. I'm guessing it's the normal way it operates?

I have a 1999 E-350 Van that has a 7.3 and 4R100 in it. The OD light has been blinking, but I can not read any codes. I have tried multiple scanners (Snap On Solus, AutoEnginuity software on laptop with the Ford enhanced package, just to name a couple), and none of them are coming up with any codes for the transmission.
I have a TS 6 position tuner and monitor on the motor, and while going up thru the gears, it appears that the transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd fine, and it feels fine. The 2nd to 3rd shift tho is another story. It seems that the transmission is going into 3rd and immediately locking the converter. Depending on which power setting it is on, it is violent enough to chirp the tires (while it sounds fun, it cant be good). It shifts into and holds overdrive fine.
