The first start when I leave the garage works fine while the car is cold, but after several stops each time I try to start the car, I have to turn the key 2-6 times, then it starts. Had battery checked & it's ok and I hook safety belt prior to starting and also new starter was installed 3 mos. ago.
View 19 RepliesAt times when going to start our 1998 Caddy you can turn the key and ..... nothing happens, no clicking ... nothing. Everything else works but it is like you are not even turning the key. Is there a weak spot on these cars?
I am familiar with solenoid/starter issues but this seems a bit different for some reason.
I've been experiencing a low rumble/chatter type noise only at extemely low speeds in conjunction with turning the vehicle (as you would in a parking lot). You can also 'feel' this noise to a slight degree on the steering wheel. This event happens going forward or in reverse. Additionally, it seems to be coming predominantly from the rear of the car. This has been going on for several months. My mechanic has ruled out any recall notices, tires, and brakes. He suspects it may be the drive train?
View 5 RepliesI have a 1999 cadillac Deville that my mechanic says needs a new front strut mount. My symptoms are mostly in cold weather a very slight groan when parking the vehicle or turning into my driveway. It seems like it happens when the steering wheel is on its return back to center and it can be felt slightly in the wheel and heard as the sound a zip tie makes when pulled together with a slight groan. The car has been recently aligned and rides pretty good but sometimes can be a little noisy over bumps.

View 13 RepliesRecently my check engine light came on on my 98 Cadillac Deville. I went to Autozone and got a free engine diagnostic and was given a printout of a bunch of stuff I did not understand, the technician told me it was just an issue with the light, and it could be fixed with unhooking the black end of my battery for 10m. Just a little bit ago, i popped the hood, and touched the black end of the battery to see how i could unplug it. When i touched it I heard a click and now there is no power to my car. Every time i jiggle the negative end I hear a click from the right side of the engine and nothing happens. I did not even unhook the battery.
View 1 RepliesI've got a 2007 Cadillac CTS with the 3.6L engine. The car has begun idling rough when stopped at lights, parked, etc. A few days later, it also began starting reluctantly. The rough idle varies in intensity, but is almost always present. The CEL is not illuminated and the car seems to run fine when not idling.
A few months ago, the car began running like a lawn mower and the check engine light came on. It turned out to be a misfiring cylinder. I had all the plugs replaced along with the ignition coil for that cylinder.
The car ran great for a few months after the repair, but now this rough idle problem has appeared.
The motor turns over, but it will not start.
View 3 RepliesI have a 92 Deville. I drove a pretty good distance today and on the way home stopped at the store and left the car on in the parking lot. I got in and the engine died as I tried to pull out of the lot. When I try to start the car all the lights come on but nothing happens, no clicks or anything. Lights don't even go dim. Could this be the alternator? I know that the starter suddenly dying won't cut off the engine like that. Everything seemed fine before idk what gave out?
View 6 RepliesWhen I make a quick start I get a clunk kind of sound that appears to be from the area near the transmission shift lever on the console between the seats. If I really do a jack rabbit start, it will clunk repeatedly until I let up on the gas or the car gets up to speed.
Is this a broken Engine or Transmission mount? 2005 Cadillac SRX....
I own a 2006 Cadillac DTS. In May 2012, I purchased four Tiger Paw tires from local dealership. Dealer filled them with Nitrogen. The tires were constantly losing air (about 1/2 lb/day). I went back to the dealership many times and they refilled the tires, but I was never given an adequate explanation as to why the tires kept losing air. I then went to a local repair shop and was told tags were left on the tires. After removal of the tags, two of the four tires are better. Other two still lose approximately 1/2 lb/day. I went back to the car dealership again and now I am being told there is corrosion on the wheels and that is the reason for the air loss. (They are insisting the corrosion was not there 7 months ago when I purchased the tires). They want to remove the corrosion. Is there anything else to consider concerning the continual loss of air pressure?
View 10 RepliesSo yesterday car did not start after 15 min from turning off .... Waited about 45 min. And it started(during the time it would not start i checked battery and its connections checked its voltage which was at 12.8 volts ... I had power in the car.
My headlights were as bright as ever and did not dim or flicker as i tried to turn on the car.. Did not start in those 45 min. to about 1 hour. Today happened again twice.
I banged on the starter both times and it worked like a charm both times ...... So I am thinking its gotta be the starter ... I run to autozone and ask them to test my starter and they said that it was good....
I have a 92 celica gt with a 2.2 and I got it on the road and the next day it wouldn't start just kept turning over and not firing and it flooded itself I plugged in the block heater and about 20 to 30 minutes later it started no problem and now 3 days later I'm having the same problem but can't plug it in because it's at my work..... what it might be????

View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata and have had trouble getting it started. A few days ago it kept turning but wouldn't start. I tried jumping it and nothing. Then it randomly turned on. I thought it was the battery and switched that out today but now it won't start at all. Sounds like it's trying to and then has a noise that keeps going for about 10 seconds after . I've seen other posts about issues with the 2.4L engines and am wondering if I'm having the same problem. I have a video for it here: [URL] .....

View 5 RepliesOn occasion, my 2003 Cadillac Seville SLS will indicate that the car is low on oil and I should stop driving. When I checked the oil, it has never been low. Prior to this happening, the gas hand began to dance between 1/4 of a tank and a full tank. I am not sure if these issue are related or if I have two separate issues.

View 3 RepliesHer vehicle is a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer, 4 door. It has a brand new battery.
She drove it to the store and came back home and shut it off. Within 5 minutes she tried to start it back up to move it and it won't start. When she turns the key, all dashlights come on, all gauges work and the engine is turning but won't start.
When the key is turned, I do not hear the fuel pump. But I've been told that in some vehicles you don't.
We removed the cover under the hood and took out the "plug" that said fuel pump (it was grey and had 4 prongs on it that plugged in) and switched it with another "plug" with the same numbers and it still does the same thing.
Hubby took of the black cover (think it was the breather but not sure correct name) and sprayed a little starting fluid and the Blazer started for a few seconds and would continue this until it burnt up the fluid. He looked down in this when I was trying to start it and he said that he couldn't see any gas being shot in it.
Could it be anything else besides the fuel pump?? Where is the fuel pump relay switch located and how can we tell if it is bad? I have no problem buying a fuel pump for my mom but I would like to know that it is going to fix the problem.
I replaced the 12V battery yesterday with a new one, and the car (2010 Prius Model III w Navigation), will turn on and off, but the ICE is not turning on automatically upon start-up, as it usually does. I can get the ICE to start by stepping on the gas pedal while in park, although it seems to die within a few seconds if I remove my foot.
