Why would the car remote stop function AT THE EXACT SAME TIME that AM radio interference starts? At first both would function fine all day until it got hot outside - then both would go wrong. now it both problems occur all the time. - Replacing the remote batteries didn't work. - The interference doesn't vary with engine speed.
Its a 2003 CTS.
I just purchased a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and the FM radio channels are all experiencing intermittent "buzzing/humming" on them in the background.
AM and Sattelite radio are fine. I've checked on other FM radios from same locations as the Elantra, and those are fine too.
So I have the dreaded "rear defroster/radio static interference" issue on my 2011 Corolla LE. I turn on my radio and all is good. I turn on my rear window defroster and my FM reception goes away.I am pretty sure I did it to myself because it only started happening after I cleaned the rear window with some windshield washing fluid and a paper towel. I do have a knack for being a bit gruff on things and people unintentionally so I guess I am not surprised. I must have damaged the elements of the rear defroster in the process of cleaning the window. I should have left it dirty.
Anyway, I've read many posts detailing how breaks in the rear defroster grid can introduce EMI that effects the factory radio antennae in the rear window. Some of the answers I have seen suggested are:
1) replace the rear window (really?)
2) use a repair kit. URL...
3) completely replace the the rear defroster grid with an after market kit. URL...
4) replace the factory antennae with an after market unit that is not internally mounted
5) live with it
Are there any other options that I haven't found? If the root cause is the rear defroster, the repair kit seems like the way to go (even if it looks like an annoying task to perform upside down in such tight and cramped spaces). Might fix the defroster if its broken but will it resolve the EMI problem ...
Having bought an 06 GS450h in December.
Recently I have been getting an intermittent problem with my audio system where all radio channels are getting interference, then after a short, random amount of time, the audio system switches itself off and ejects one of the 6 CDs. If I turn it on again, it turns off (again after a random amount of time) and ejects another of the remaining CDs.
This problem is not constant, and happens maybe once or twice a week and does not stop until the car has been at rest for a little while.
I have a 02 PSD, and sometimes after I start it up my radio and power windows do not work. I have a red "security" light on my Kenwood radio that turns on when the truck is off. That light keeps flashing after I turned on the truck so I know it's still getting power, but for some reason it thinks the truck is off, and the windows don't go down. Other days it works perfectly fine, sometimes the radio and windows will stop working after driving normal.
At first it was a routine where I knew they'd start working shortly. But today was the last straw, I drove into work with no radio and windows not rolling down for 30 miles. Of course after I park, I turn off the truck, turn it back on and everything comes on like nothing ever happened. What can be causing this, I have checked all the wiring, no kinks, cuts, nothing. I remember reading something about a relay that can cause this but can't find that info.
This interference correlates directly to tire rotation speed, engine rpm has no effect. Under about 5mph it won't make the noise, but over that you hear a pop more or less for every rotation of the tire and when you hit say 50mph it is just a steady static noise on AM only. Haven't pulled the head unit yet, checked several body grounds under the hood and all are good. Don't know if a damaged wheel sensor could cause an issue or not.
View 4 RepliesI was removing a remote starter off of my 04 camry because it no longer worked. After I removed it i noticed that the radio and clock were not working. I checked the blue/red accessory wire on the ignition harness and noticed it looked like it had seen better days. So i decided to make the connect more solid by cutting the weak point and crimping it back together. Now I put the key in and turn it to run and I ONLY get the CEL light, the airbag light and the brake light(parking brake is engaged). I can't utilize the windows, it wont even attempt to crank, the a/c and heat don't work now. I checked all the wires in the area of the ignition harness and all are solid connection (tested with a voltmeter). I have tried to jump start the car with another car as well as unhooking the battery for 2 hours and nothing has changed. I also triple checked every single fuse i can see in the passenger compartment and under the hood and all are good. I also checked the circuit board behind the fuse panel under the dash and everything looked ok.

View 19 RepliesSo I have a 2011 Camry XLE with the touchscreen navigation. For a few months now, I've had problems where all of a sudden the audio would just stop working. The screen would gray out and I can't change any of the settings even if I am parked. I tried turning off my car and turning it back on, because that sometimes fixed the problem, but now it just doesn't work at all. I took it to a friend, who is a mechanic, and he said he can't really find anything wrong with it. When I get this problem, I can't adjust the volume from the steering wheel or the main volume dial and nothing beeps when I press it, like it usually should.
A few other things to note. When it does work, I will drive normally, but if I accelerate too fast or turn too hard, it cuts off again. Is this a problem I can troubleshoot myself or should I go for an aftermarket radio? Although, I prefer to have navigation.
Radio controls stop working can only make changes from steering wheel. Is there a way to reset the radio so the buttons will work?
View 4 RepliesHave a F350 V10 super duty the power windows intermittently stop working along with the radio. I have replaced the acc relay key switch under a recommendation. I looked over the fuse panel under the dash for corrosion. Still can't find problem. It was worse this past summer than this winter. When it goes bad after driving 30 miles it will start working.

I have been researching for months trying not to take to dealer. Have used elec. connection spray to clean most plug connections. New battery. Cable to battery connections very clean.
I had the battery unhooked for an extended period of time while replacing the starter. My father owns a 1997 F250 heavy duty. Well he was parked beside me when I was putting everything back together. He goes to lock his doors and ended up locking mine and his. After that my remote won't work at all, but his does. What happened? Howdo I fix it? I tried to unhook the battery for 3 hrs and plug it back in. Still nothing.

After i got my work done, i pulled the key and closed the door. when i was pressing the lock button in my remote key, it wasnt working. Then i went inside my car and even the locks and other things werent working.. nothing was working eventually.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2003 Camry I4. My RKE stopped working. First I checked the battery in the remote, it reads 3v like it should. I searched and found how to reprogram the the receiver, so I tried that. I did the door and key dance and got to where when you pull the key out and the door locks lock then unlock. I try pushing the lock and unlock button, then just the lock button as per the instructions and I get nothing. Supposed to get one cycle of the locks if it works and tow cycles if it doesn't. I get neither of those, nothing happens. So I buy a new remote off of eBay (brand new, never used, OEM remote). I try the reprogram door dance again and get the same results. The battery in the new one reads 3v like it should as well. So I go off to a junk yard to replace the receiver door controller, I found one and replaced it and I get the same exact results.

View 10 RepliesI have a 2003 Toyota Sienna. The radio has stopped working. All other electrical parts of the car appear to be in fine working order. I found the Radio-No.2 fuse (7.5A) beneath the dash and replaced it with the working 7.5A (working) turning signal with no luck. (The radio fuse DID work when placed in the turning signal fuse slot). So it cannot be this fuse.
Is there a Radio-No.1 fuse? Unfortunately, this car did not come with a owners manual. If so where would I find it?Or could this be a different problem? What else should I look for.
All my power windows aren't working along with my after market radio. All the fuses are good
