I turned the car on this morning and my turn signals don't work, there is no clicking sound when I flip the left or right signal and when I step on the brakes the brake lights don't illuminate. Needless to say the cars behind me don't like it when I slow down to make a turn. Can't be the bulbs and the symptoms make me think it is more than a fuse.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2003 V10 Excursion with an electrical problem. The right turn, right brake and right hazard light do not work but the flasher makes the clicking noise. When the right turn signal is on, the right front turn signal light works but is at double speed. The right rear light does not work. Same when brake and hazard are applied.
I checked the bulb socket with a multi meter and have no current. I also checked my trailer plug and have all functions work. Fuses were checked also for the brake circuit and were all ok.
I just bought an 05 F250 XLT. I noticed tonight that the rear turn signals and brake lights don't work.
The front turn signals work fine, although they flash fast. I know that usually means a light on its way out. neither taillight flashes though, which puzzles me.
My second issue is that, of the 3 brake lights, only the high mounted light illuminates when I hit the brakes.
My daughter recently bought a 2004 chevy malibu. she had it checked by a mechanic, who said it was a decent car for the price. the turn signal does not work when she has the brake on.
View 4 RepliesSo...I'm driving home yesterday and hit my left turn signal when all I get is a fast clicking sound. The light on the dash did not light up at all. Right signal is working fine.
Checked it out in the driveway -- my left signal is totally out. No front, rear or dash light when I hit the left turn signal. When I hit the hazard switch, I get only a right blinking light. The right turn signal functions as normal.
I thought this was probably a bad bulb so I replaced both the front AND the rear bulbs. Got no love - same results.
2008 Prius...
My truck has this rapid machine gun type start, but not always. It always starts though. I had the alternator tested at O'Reilly auto. They said it was good. I have also been trying to see if there is a possible relation with my clicking sound. I guess it might be more of a steady tapping. I thought it was possibly a lifter. My neighbor that works at one of the quickie lubes said he would take a look. He listened with a screw driver and said he did not here the clicking/tapping sound from the engine.
I showed him how when you accelerate on the gas it gets faster and louder. He said it sounded like it was coming from one of the pulleys. There is no kind of squeaking though, just a loud obnoxious tapping noise. He said that he thought it could be a bearing.I am just trying to think if there is still some kind of alternator relation, because also at times going down the road I notice that the lights on my dash flicker a bit. From looking at all of the pulleys, they all look pretty steady. Although, the crankshaft pulley on the bottom does look like it has just a little wobble. We did not have a long enough screwdriver to listen for the tapping in the pulleys. Also, the serpentine belt is good on it.
Vehicle will not respond to anything. Remote key access wont work. No clicking or starter movement. No lights, radio, etc. Not the battery.
View 1 RepliesIt only does it when it is fairly cold out and when it sits overnight. I will get into my 2000 4.0 Explorer and when I put my foot on the brake my right side turn signal comes on, it doesn't flash it just comes on and stays on. When I let off the brake it goes out. It will do it maybe four or five times and then work fine all day. Its just the right side and the indicator on the dash comes on too. I haven't looked at a wiring diagram yet to see if there is a connection between the two.

View 4 RepliesMy Jetta has had an off-and-on clicky turn signal sound without turn signals or hazard lights actually blinking. I put up with it for a while, but recently it's been more clicky than not. I'm aware this is a common problem. I had already tried the cleaner spray "trick" which made the problem worse if anything. Today, I removed my signal stalk as described here and gave it a cleaning. After re-assembling, the clicky problem didn't go away, and now the high beams are always on (even with the key out of the ignition, and the car isn't running). I temporarily dealt with this by pulling fuses 18 and 19 for high beams. It's an ok short-term workaround. Low beams still work fine.
I'm considering replacing the hazard signal relay, but a while ago I messed up while trying to use ghetto removal keys to pull my radio.
One year ago, after driving 8 or so hrs., at 108,000 mi, my 2003 Buick Rendevous started making a groaning sound which would last 15-30 seconds. When exiting the turnpike, the sound lasted nearly 1 min. The next day, the Buick dealer could find no cause but put a new serpentine belt on it which solved the problem for a few months. (I had previously replaced the serpentine belt at 96,000 mi as routine maintenance.) After a couple months, I heard the sound again and took it to my local Buick dealer who could find nothing. It was o.k. for about 6 mo. Now it groans again. My local mechanic heard it but could find no cause. It groaned almost constantly a couple days ago while I was driving in slow traffic w/the a/c on but quit when I turned the a/c off. It sometimes groans with the a/c off, especially on a turn from a stop sign. I now have 114,000 mi. The sound seems to be originating from the engine.

My camper and boat trailer do not have turning signal or brake lights when plugged into the round seven pin trailer connector. I have tried both the connector in the bed and under the bumper. I've also connected the trailers to other trucks and the lights work fine so I know the problem is in my truck.
My wife's 2003 sportrac has developed a problem. The left rear turn signal brake light will not work. The tail light does. When you turn on the left turn signal the front bulb and the dash light flashes real fast. I have changed both, the front and rear bulbs with no luck. I've read on here about the tilt steering column deal. I have moved the steering column while operating the turn signal with no change.
View 4 RepliesI have 1999 Ford F-150 xlt and on the passenger side the brake and turn signal don't work but reverse light does. On the driver's side, everything works so I switch bulbs and outlets and it still doesn't work but two of the wires for trailer hook up and cut. I was wondering if that had anything to do with that.
View 2 RepliesHad the Buick dealer perform a flush on the rear diff with a speical lubricant to refill and it worked for awile. There only recommdation was to replace the rear, which is cost prohibitve. This noise is a whing/moaning noise when turning sharp, like into driveways, streets and parking places, only when the weather and vehicle are warm. Doesnt' seem to effect any operation, the noise has not gotton louder. Any fixes known? I may start looking for a used rear asm, but I don't want to get the same problem, as Ive heard this is common for GMs AWD systems.

View 7 RepliesI have checked all wires for krosion and fuse's are good so confused! Just put brand new tail lights bulbs in! The top one comes on as a running light but nothing else works. I also checked under hood fuses too!
1.Only Hazard light that works is on the Right Front passenger side.
2 Drivers side Brake Light & Turn Signal Doesn't Work. But passenger works fine! Left turn signal is out and blinks really fast!
3.Passenger Side Overhead Outside Light on cab is out . Okay that's probably just a bulb!
The right turn signal on my 1998 Ford Explorer recently stopped working. The flasher was making a horrible buzzing sound when I tried to signal right, but worked fine signaling left.
I just replaced the flasher, which has cleared up the buzzing noise when trying to signal right. The flasher clicks like it's supposed to, but the lights still do not flash.
Here's a summary of the current symptoms:
-Hazard lights work fineFlasher clicks; interior indicators flash; exterior lights flash
-Left right signal indicator works fineFlasher clicks; interior indicators flash; exterior lights flash
-Right turn signal does not work
