I have a 1992 SC Coupe I was just given for free from my Cousin. It has 92, 000 miles on it. The car looks in great shape, it drives smooth. But in the front under the hood there is a loud engine noise almost like there is no muffler on the car, you acutally hear it loud inside th car also. But the sound is in the front. After about 15 min of warming up the car the sound is gone. A freind suggested there could be a crack in the manifold.

My 1999 F-150 came with a horrible performance muffler on it. It is pretty quiet at idle, but off idle it is just too loud.
It is one of those weld-in, cylindrical, red ones. I want OEM sound or quieter, but quality.

I know some of you can't get your truck loud enough and like to scare children and want everyone to look, but I like comfort and quiet. I'd prefer the stock exhaust and I may find one if I can't get mine quieted down but first I'd like to see if I can. The 4" MBRP exhaust was on the truck when I bought it. The thing was straight piped and I added the 30" muffler. Worked immensely but it's still too loud in the cab and there's droning at certain rpm.
Not a big deal on short drives but we use the truck for hauling and towing on long trips and that's when it becomes annoying. It looks like there's enough room for another muffler to easily fit (CC SB). Or I've thought about removing the MBRP muffler completely and putting on one of those crazy long Donaldson mufflers. Think a 2nd muffler would do much at all? Or get one long muffler?

About 4 weeks ago my 2015 sports turbo developed loud exhaust, deep rumble, dealer replaced left rear muffler. Noise still there. I'm suspecting the center muffler.

Yesterday, I heard a loud "pop" while cruising at 60mph. Pull into a rest stop and and discovered a hole in the muffler. The engine now idled roughly, but seem to smooth out about 2000 rpm.
Question for the experts: can the loss of a muffler cause the engine to run rough? It's a 460cid in a '77 F350.

I recently took a ride in the back seat of my 2010 Tiguan and noticed that the muffler noise is loud enough to cause headache on long rides. Also I noticed that the back seat vibrates a lot with any tiny imperfection on the road while the front seat you barely feel any vibration on rough roads. Is it only my car?

I have a prius c 2 2012 and we just got about 8-9 inches of snow and after driving in the storm to work when I start up my prius or step on the gas to merge onto say a highway I have a small rattle noise in the rear/ muffler area under the car. My dad says it could just be build up of snow and ice under the car.

I have a 2005 Touareg V8 with air suspension. Over the past few months, I've noticed a ticking noise from the within the muffler. The dealer says "it normal". It's in the shop now because the oil gauge is inop and a ticking noise is coming from the engine. I only have 23K miles on the vehicle.

I was driving home and suddenly the underside of my car *popped* and it sounded like my muffler came loose. Very loud exhaust/turbo whistle.
Luckily I was very close to home and was able to pull in when it completely fell off and started dragging on the street. What part of my exhaust is this and what should I do to repair it?
I just finished fixing a ton of stuff on her and now she does this ?

For the past few months I've been hearing a loud fan-like buzzing noise coming from the passenger side of the front of the car. I don't know that much about cars, but it almost sounds like the engine is racing or something is spinning too fast. It has gotten increasingly worse, and seems especially loud at high speeds on the highway.
It is not the heating/cooling fan - the noise is present when the heating/cooling system is turned off.

My girlfriend and I just bought a 2011 a few weeks ago. We test drove it a couple times ourselves, and had our mechanic take a look at it and drive it also. Everything looked and sounded good. Not sure how much it matters, but it's a Certified Used as well.
A couple days ago, returning from a 45-minute drive which included some short stretches of gravel road, I noticed an oscillating sound. It's definitely not a noise that was there when we bought the car. Unfortunately, my cell is apparently bad at capturing audio, so hopefully my description will be enough.
The noise is very faint, almost inaudible, at low speeds. Between 30 and 35 mph it gets much louder, peaking at about 33. There's some vibration through the accelerator pedal also. Above 35, it fades pretty quickly and I can't really hear it at 50. The sound itself is 3 beats on, 1 beat off, about every second. There's a slight difference in pitch between each beat.
If that isn't enough to go on, let me know and I'll give the recording another shot and upload it if the noise is audible.

So I bought a 2006 impala SS about 2-3 months ago. After a month of having it I put flowmaster 40 series mufflers on it. Ever since I put the mufflers on I've had problems with the car stalling out at random times and then not being able to start up for around 20 mins. I took it back to the dealer and they can't seem to figure out what's wrong. It's been to the shop three different times because they thought they fixed it a couple times.

When I put on a Flowmaster end muffler on my '99 Venture....will that increase my mileage? I mean does the engine needs the original tail pipe pressure to perform the best mileage?

Putting a magnaflow muffler on the 99.5 2.0 slow jetta on Wednesday and I realized I don't have a rear GLI lip. Any single turn down extension off a muffler ? Or just run a straight pipe off the muffler ? Clearance with the rear lip issues ?

Have the APR RSC exhaust - developed rattles, specifically in one of the RSC muffler chambers?
I've had my exhaust installed for almost 6 months. About 2-3 months ago, I noticed a rattle from under the car somewhere. I finally got underneath the car a few weeks ago to check it out and the rattle is most definitely coming from the rear RSC muffler (right before the exhaust tips). I'm positive that's the source and I'm guessing that the welds inside for the baffles / walls that compose the RSC technology failed, and a piece is now rattling around inside. It only rattles at low RPM, but it's loud (especially in a parking garage) and super embarrassing.

I have a 1992 Civic sedan with a lot of coolant in the muffler. Let me put it this way: we messed up the head and coolant leaked into the exhaust pipe. Anymore detail than that and it's a long story. We have a new head now, but there's a lot of coolant in the muffler. My dad tried taking it off and tipping it on one end, but the fluid is stuck and only dribbles out when we slosh it around. How can we get this fluid out without damage to the muffler?

I had a hitch installed about a year ago by U-Haul. Probably my first mistake. Although "custom" ordered it rattles against the muffler. They have been unable or unwilling to fix it. It appears that the muffler needs to be a bit lower. How to get rid of the noise.

I believe I have a spark plug issue although I am assured that they have been replaced in enough time to not have a problem. I'm am having acceleration issues, losing power over time, misfires and engine deceleration. I also now have a rattle that sounds like it is coming from my muffler only upon acceleration. It seems to be getting louder over time as well. This coupled with a rough idle and an over heated engine when the ac was on its cause for worry. Could the rattle be connected?
