2001 Audi A6 2.7T 95k miles....car is making a very loud squeaking/chirping noise when going over bumps...it was making it at low speeds, now it's making it at both low and high speeds. Would control arms make that much noise? I know that is a common problem with these cars. If the squeak is coming from the control arms, can I just grease them?

Yesterday I noticed a chirping noise when I had my window down. I could not hear it when it was up. It sounds a bit like the squeal of brake pads, but it's continuous even when not braking (it does change tone with speed, direction and braking). to compound things at times I don't hear it at all.
Could this be brake pads? My front ones are coming due. I thought they only made noise when braking.
My question today has to deal with my squeaking car. Only mods I have done to my suspension would be Lowered on Progress springs and added there rear sway bar. After about a year my car started to squeak when going over speed bumps or certain dips BUT ONLY THE REAR. I have tracked the problem down to my rear sway bar. What is the fix for this? Ive read in other forums (mainly civic teggys etc) that the bushing might be worn? What is my recommended next step?

See the attached videos. The first one (night time) was made before I took the car to the dealer the first time. Dealer said that I was going too fast over the speed bumps, so I made another video (daytime) showing the speed (10-13 mph). Both times you can hear a squeaking noise coming from the front that I just started hearing last week. The car has only 23,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new back in September of 2010. I don't know what to do because the dealer (of course) says that they checked everything and there is nothing wrong with the car.
What was the cause of it. I can take it to a mechanic and check it myself and then bring it to VW for repairs and telling them exactly what's wrong and why.

Instead a set of VWR springs yesterday on my GTI. Initially driving it, everything seemed fine. After about 20 miles and taking an off ramp aggressively, I noticed a squeaking noise from my drivers side when I go over bumps. I cannot pin point what may be causing it.

My dealer says that i have to replace the whole knuckle assembly as the bush for that part are not available separately. Is this true or the dealer is trying to earn some quick bucks?
View 2 RepliesI'm having horrible squeaking/creaking noises coming from the front drivers side area of my car. I can hear it inside the car with windows up or down. Not sure if you can hear it from the outside or not. It is only when going over bumps or uneven road surfaces at low speeds. If I'm even going like 40mph and there is uneven surface I don't hear anything. It's 85 degrees today, and I notice it has gotten worse with the hotter temps. I just purchased the car a few months ago when it was still winter, and only recall it gradually doing this as the weather has warmed up.
The weirdest thing is that my previous sunfire (also a 2002), made the same exact noise, but never did get it checked out because the head gasket blew and I got rid of it. I tried pushing on the front end while it's parked to see if it makes the noise, but I didn't hear the slightest chirp, unless I'm just not strong enough to give a good enough push. What could be wrong? I don't wanna throw a whole lot of money into it not being sure what it is, and I have read a lot of horror stories of mechanics trying to pinpoint noises and still not being able to find the culprit thousands of dollars later. 2002 Sunfire GT....
I have an RX 450H and noticed that there is a squeaking sound coming from the dashboard. I looked at other posts where people were experiencing similar issues and noticed one post where someone had a GS 450H and fixed this issue by adding felt between the dashboard and the windscreen.
I would like to know whether this method works 100% and whether I can apply this method to the RX 450H. The noise becomes worse when it is cold and especially when the car is being driven over rough road surfaces and speed bumps.
I have a 2006 f250 lariat 192k no mods except k&n filter everything is stock. I have 2" pro comp level kit and a scan gauge 2 nothing fancy! Well the other day I noticed my truck was chirping like a Chirp chirp chirp...... Chirp chirp...... Chirp chirp chirp! It goes up and down with the rpm's but it's comes on and off only when the engine is up to running temps the belt does squeak during warm up but I don't think that's it, it's coming from the back of the engine I'm sure of it because I used a paper towel tube and listed right in the turbo hpop area on top of the engine but it's too hard to tell I can't find exactly where it's coming from, some people I've had listen think it's a belt or pulley or tensioner! But I'm not sure if it is because I've sprayed water, and wd40 on the belt and pulleys with no change!!! I'm afraid it's a lifter or something inside the engine yet it's too loud and pronounced to sound like it's coming from the inside! I'm just lost!

I can't tell if it is coming from the front, or back of the car. Many of the threads on here seem to be talking about a common rear shocks issue? Also read a lot about faulty struts? Swaybar?
There is a clunking noise coming from the rear of the car. Not a metal on metal sound. Sounds like its more on the passengers side. I replaced the swaybar linkage ends since they were a little loose and thought it was that. Nope...I have H&R coilovers, they are about 5 years old. Can't imagine they be shot this soon. Had someone drive my car while i was behind the R and the rear wheels aren't dancing at all, a common sign of a blown shock. Push down on the car, shocks still respond like they did from day one. I've put the car up on a lift, both sitting and wheels dangling. With the wheels dangling, I grabbed onto the shocks to see if there was any play in the upper shock mounts, solid. Looked under the whole car for loose plastic covers. Can not see anything loose. I made sure everything inside the hatch, including the battery is sitting snug.
The clunk happens over bumps, with or without the brakes on and is loud enough that if the radio is on, it can still be heard.
I've had my R for 10 days and I've noticed a weird noise in the interior when I roll over some bumps. It literally sounds like a bird chirping. Very odd. It's not on all bumps, but it is noticeable and seems to be happening more often. I've still got less than 500 miles on the car.
What the heck is it? I'll be taking my car into the dealership on 2/28 to have my front grille (sans license plate bracket) installed. So, I'll ask them to take a look then.
I've noticed from time to time, when I fold my mirror's they make a loud squeaking noise... Drives me nuts! Can use a type of Lube to remedy this? Not sure if VW recommends a lubricant. Thinking of trying the Wurth SIG 3000 antispatter. [URL] .....
View 1 RepliesMy 2013 Prius v (lowercaes v for the Prius v wagon, not an uppercase v) has right at 4100 miles on it. In the past few months, I had to get the entire odometer/instrument panel swapped out when it developed crazing lines, hazy circles.
After fighting with a couple of dealers and them blaming me for the defects in this failed part, the original dealer finally replaced it. Now I'm hearing a chirping/squeaking sound whenever accelerating that seems to be coming from this same area. The back seat/door on the drivers side also rattles, but that's a separate problem.
This is the most squeaky, rattly car I've ever owned. And that includes a 1966 Mustang, which wasn't the best car ever made. I'm pretty disappointed in Toyota's "quality" which appears sub-standard compared to the Chevy and Ford's I've owned. But that to the side, what this squeak is? It sounds exactly (and I mean exactly) like this ....
Started up my car this morning and drove to the gas station. I had the car on low fuel, got the low fuel light last night but didn't have time to stop by a gas station to fill up. Anyways after I did finally fueled up this morning, I pulled out of the gas station and a very loud squeaking noise which sounds like metal on metal occurred. The noise is coming from the rear, but it's really loud, nothing I have ever heard before.
I will mention that I have Koni coilovers installed, tried to peak under the car and see if something broke or came loose but I was unable to see anything since I am sitting pretty low.
I live in Chicago and this morning was very cold. I am trying to figure out what my issue could be. I called up the dealer and he told me to drive it around for a bit and see if it goes away. Another guess would be that something got stuck between the rotor and the break pad. I have the stock break pads. What could it be?
I have a VW Passat 2003. I had my front and rear brake pads replaced (and rotors sanded) 4 months ago at Merchant's. They used ceramic brakes b/c they were the recommended manufacturer part. Because the brakes are ceramic, I expected a little squeaking, and at first there was; just a short squeak that sounded like a flute, and it only happened when I turned my wheel to the right. Now the brakes squeak, scream and chirp continually. They squeak sometimes when I stop, like some brakes do when they're going bad.
While I'm driving (at 35-50mph), they scream like a kettle: a very high-pitched continuous noise. When I push the brakes or turn the wheel a certain way, the noise stops. The same happens with the chirping noise. I don't know when the noises started b/c I usually only hear it when my windows are down. I took my car back to Merchant's to have them check and they didn't find anything wrong; they just lubricated the brake pads, but that didn't work. Could there be something wrong with my brakes or is this normal for ceramic brakes?

there is a LOUD squeaking noise coming from my drivers side wheel when driving. When I press the brakes then the noise goes away. I took the wheel off to duplicate the noise by turning the rotors but I couldn't. maybe I couldn't turn it fast enough though. Its not the brake/rotor shield either.
At first it was a slight squeak but now its getting really loud. embarrassing loud. Could the possible issues be calipers, brake shims, cv, axle?
I have a new 2012 Chevy Cruze with 10,000 miles on it. Chevy has issued service bulletins citing a problem that they can't seem to diagnose or repair (yet) and my car has the problem. They tell me their engineers are working on it. After the car is a little warm, when I apply the break there is a loud squeaking or whirring noise which pulsates at the speed of the tires (in other words, as I slow down, the intervals between each sound gets longer and longer). I suspect it is coming from the back. First they thought it was sticking calipers until they realized that I have drum brakes on the rear. It is loud enough that the only way no to hear this grating noise is to blast the radio.
View 2 Replies2002 Volvo S40. My son bought his first car. It was inspected a week before he bought it, and has about 50,000 miles. It seemed to drive fine when he purchased it, but after a few days, he heard a squeaking/ chirping sound (that seemed to be coming from the left front side of the car) when he accelerated. The sound stops when he brakes hard. He took the car to a mechanic who told him that he needed new brake pads (front and rear).
He replaced the front pads, but the sound persisted. He went to another mechanic who told him that the pads were not put on properly and smoothed the rotor. The sound decreased for a short time and then returned. The mechanic says that the rotor looks fine, but is now recommending that he replace it since adjusting the brake pad and smoothing the rotor is not working.
I just got a 2009 lexus gs 350 everything is perfect except when i go into reverse and back up slowly the brakes make a loud squeaking noise!! Its really annoying and embarrassing. I got the rotors resurfaced and nothing.
