Yukon :: Whining Sound From Front End On 2002 Denali

Jan 5, 2004

I recently purchased a 2002 Yukon Denali. I've noticed a whining sound from the front end when I'm at a steady speed. When I take my foot off the pedal, the sound stops. I had it in the dealership and they first thought it was the front drive shaft and replaced it. That didn't work at all, so they then told me it was due to the all wheel drive. What is causing this?

Yukon :: 2001 Denali AWD 6.0 - Whining Noise During Acceleration

Ok I have a 2001 Denali AWD 6.0, and when I accelerate it makes a whining noise as if it were low on power steering fluid, well I just replaced the power steering pump today and the ring and pinion with bearings about 1000 miles ago. Still whining, the shop today said it could be transferred case but I doubt that because I had it inspected when the ring and pinion was replaced.

Yukon :: 2002 XL Denali 1500 - Spare Tire Carrier Replacement

I have an '02 XL Denali 1500. The spare tire carrier was broken (cable had snapped) prior to me buying it. As best I can find, the part number for it is: 15026912. I'm curious if any of the newer designs (such as part# 25974845) would fit. 2 reasons I'm asking,

1) the newer ones supposedly keep the tire from falling on the road if the cable were to break, and
2) they're cheaper than the original part number.

Living where road salt snacks on vehicles for 6 or 7 months out of the year has yielded no luck in finding a functional one by checking with the local salvage yards.

Right now the spare sits in the back, which is fine most of the time, but it takes up a good amount of space when packing for trips.

Yukon :: 2004 Denali - Coolant Spewing Out

2004 Denali XL with 78,800 miles. I've had it since July '12, and when I changed the oil immediately after buying it (74,700 miles) it was low and filthy. All the fluids were checked/topped, and I had to rebuild the front drive diff and replace a cracked axle tube shortly thereafter.

Everything has been fine since, except for some coolant spewing out mysteriously every once in a while and slightly more than a qt of ATF just disappearing about a week or two ago.

It was shifting a little jerky so I checked the fluid and found it just barely on the stick. Quite a surprise since I check it every month or so, and I've never seen a drop on the ground.

Should I flush or do the standard filter and partial change? The fluid is pink and clean looking at this time.

Yukon :: 1999 Denali - Rear Brake And Turn Signal On Driver Side Not Working

As the says I have a 1999 Yukon Denali that the Rear Brake and Turn signal on Drivers side are not working. Also brake light on trailer DOES work but not the turn signal on that side.

I tested the Tail light circuit by plugging it into the passenger side and it works so that rules out that. What wires to test under the dash to test the combo / multi switch?

Also the tail lights or park light do work (both top and middle bulb lights up when the vehicle is running) its just brighter filament does not light up when breaks are pressed or turn signal is on.

Prius (2010-12) :: Whining Sound Coming From Front Area

I test drove a new 2012 Prius Three today and heard an odd whining sound coming from the car. Seemed to be from the front area, but I'm not sure. The salesman said it was "sonar," which was added to the latest models so that pedestrians, particularly those who are hard of hearing will know you are coming.

Ford - Explorer :: 2003 - Whining Thumping Sound From The Front Of Vehicle When Slowing Down

I have a 2003 Explorer 4.0l 4x4 auto. Yesterday day the passenger rear tire got a flat, so I put the full size spare on, and went about my business. About 2 miles up the road is a stop sign, so I start slowing down, and while slowing down I can hear a whining thumping sound from the front of the vehicle. It wasn't doing this before the flat, but right after I put the spare on it starts to do this. It only happens when slowing down, not under acceleration.

Gmc - Yukon :: 2002 - Cutting Off At High Speeds

Have a 2002 Yukon 5.3 ltr engine (155K miles) that likes to cut off at highway speeds. Usually happens after 4 or 5 hours of running at 70 to 80 mph. Strangely if I set the cruise control and do the same speeds, nothing... When it happens I end up coasting to the side at the roadway and sitting there for 15 or 20 minutes and it'll start right up and usually go the rest of the way. I've talked to a couple repair shops and they have checked service bulletins and have never been able to find anything. Will be driving to Connecticut for the 4th and not looking forward to being on 95 with the possibility of this happening again.

GMC - Yukon :: 2007 - Front Shock Appeared To Be Oozing Oil

My 2007 GMC Yukon Denali has 135K miles on it. While changing the spark plugs I noticed that the front shock appeared to be oozing oil (I removed the front wheels and wheel well covers to get at the spark plugs). Does this mean I should be thinking about new shocks? The truck appears to be riding fine.

Gmc - Yukon :: 2007 4WD - Grinding Noise In The Front When Make A Sharp Turn

I'm having 4WD problems with my Yukon, but the dealer keeps telling me there's nothing wrong with it (this has been going on for 2 winters now), which is either code for, "let's wait until it's extended warranty expires, so we don't have to pay for it," or "the computer says nothing is wrong, so that's all we're going to look at." When it's in 4WD, anytime I make a sharp turn or even turn a corner there's a grinding noise in the front, if I try to back up, it will only go as far as one revolution of the tires then stop (I have to take it out of 4WD to backup), eventually the "Service 4WD" light comes on, but apparently nothing gets recorded on the computer. It has 32,000 miles on it.

Camry :: 2002 Clunking Sound From Front?

I've been trying to track down this clunking sound, its only really happening when I am going at about 30-40mph speeding up or slowing down in that vicinity..

Its a light clunk clunk sound that seems to be coming from the front left of my car...

It cant be the struts, because I've just put new ones in a few months ago... What could it be? some sort of CV joint or bushing?

I didn't notice it when I test drove it but now I'm hearing a knocking/thumping sound from the front end that goes to the speed of the wheels at slow speeds (10-30mph). I can also feel it pulse when I use the brakes at slow speeds. What this might be?

Ford Excursion :: 2002 - Popping Sound From Front End?

2002 Excursion 7.3l

Problem: Popping noise only on making turns, feels like its coming from underneath me. If i drive through a parking lot and jerk the wheel right and left I can make it do the same sound.

What's been done:

1. Replaced ALL the body mounts with new aftermarket mounts.
2. Replaced front leaf springs with new ubolts and everything
3. replaced sway bar end links

I took it to a local dealership to have them check it out (they are very trusted and reputable and I have an excellent relationship with them) and they thoroughly checked out everything. It's not the ball joints or anything front end (ball joints were replaced by them a year ago).

I'm at a complete loss, I feel I "attacked" all the common problems in these trucks that would cause that popping sound....what's left???

They assure me theres no safety issue or anything that would be a huge cause for concern, but that pop drives me a little crazy. I am a little OCD with my trucks.

Toyota - Camry :: 2002 - Clunking Sound Near The Front Left Of Car

My 2002 Toyota Camry started making a clunking sound near the front left of the car (and I could barely feel it, too) at low speed over slight bumps. My mechanic, who I trust, said I had two broken engine mounts. He replaced them. Sound continued. He said I needed new struts. He replaced them. Sound continued. Decided to take it to a Toyota dealer. They said I needed new lower control arm bushings but couldn't guarantee that was the source of the sound and they would just have to see. I opted to ask yet another mechanic, who said the control arm bushings are NOT the problem, but he would have to spend some time (could be several hours) exploring to find out what the problem is...at $70+ per hour. The car only has 86,000 miles on it, but I'm getting concerned that I might end up paying for a new car without the new car smell if I keep spending money on "possible" causes.
