I have a code that just started popping up on my 2000 Yukon XL2500 with 93K. I know I have a spot on the side of the Muffler that was rotted out and patched by the previous owner. My question is would an exhaust leak that far back in the system throw off the O2 Sensor?

View 6 RepliesI tore it apart and there was no gasket or donut ring in the flange. Is there supposed to be a gasket or donut ring? I can feel the leak with my hand. I have retightened & it still "tick-ticks" real bad.
View 7 RepliesI just purchased a 2003 V10 with 270 000kms. The truck had had regular maintenance. It has an exhaust leak and runs a little bit rough. Could the exhaust leak cause the truck to run a little rough or am I dealing with another issue?
View 2 RepliesMy truck just started running really loud when it's cold and the leak goes away when it warms up to operating temperature.I did a little bit of investigating and I have found where the leak is coming from at the end of the exhaust manifold where the donut gasket meets the catalytic converters. It appears that the bolts rotted that hold the system together at the gasket. What should I do to repair this? I don't really want to replace the whole manifold because I know I'll break a stud off in the engine because everything is pretty rusty down there. I even took some pictures of the problem....

View 3 Replies2 weeks ago a check engine light came on with P0351-Ignition Coil "A" Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction, took the car to Toyota dealer and replaced ignition coil for cylinder No1. I drove the car for about 10K and check engine light came on again with P0606-PCM Processor Fault.
For the past week I was monitoring the DTC's using INNOVA- CanOBD2 Code Reader 3030 (ordered ODB2 USB tool to check live data on a laptop, on it's way...). I had P0606 on all the time, about everyday. For 3 times I had P0157-O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank #2 Sensor #2) on.
What's the link between the two DTC's? Why not P0157 alone? Or P0606 alone? What is the procedure to diagnose this?
went to have an oil change. Standard procedure. Wife drives the 330 away and the check engine and VSC lights come on. I figure it's the maintenance indicator needing reset, but no..... the reset didn't work. Went back to my local mechanic who changed the oil to run codes and see what the problem is. Code P0157 = bad O2 sensor.
Now, I questioned him as to why these lights would come on DIRECTLY after they changed my oil. Is there any correlation there? NO, he says. No reason why these lights would come on immediately after the oil change and we've never seen these two lights come on at the same time before.
I've read every post and thread I can, but it seems like every issue is different. Some times it's a loose gas cap or gas cap that needs replacing. I have to drive 60 miles to the dealer some time soon to have a recall performed, but until then should I worry about this O2 sensor and these lights staying on?
Long story, I'll try to make this short, 2000 E250 5.4L What would or could happen if the catalytic converter was removed from the exhaust system?
View 5 RepliesSo i have an exhaust leak that melted the wires on o2 sensor bank 1 sensor one. This put o2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 into lean mode and i found this out last week. Made the appointment. Was gonna run some test and replace the o2s if needed. But this morning i go to leave for work and my coolant light comes on 50 feet up the road. I pull over look at my coolant. There was about an inch of coolant left in the tank. Roll back down the street turn the car off and leave it. Im thinking i blew my head gasket running lean. When i get back from work the coolants in the same spot so i jack the car up to see if i can find the coolant leak and i dont see anything. Drop the car back down and the coolant levels back to normal so im alittle lost on whats going on here.
Also after work before coolant level returned to normal i reved it up it blew a little white smoke then black. Nothing really dark. It was quite faint. And also the coolant in the tank would bubble from the back under rev when it was low. Nothing at idle. When coolant level returned. I didn't see any smoke at all and i was unable to check coolant.
I am getting my truck back today after all the work that has been done to it over the past 3 weeks, and well, I have always wanted to gut my cats, but have been worried to waste the cats buy gutting them and didnt want to cause a disturbence in the airflow by gutting them, so i figured atleast if i was aching to be illegal and gut them, the least i could do is just remove them, but my question is, will it mess the o2 sensors up? Currently the o2 sensors arnt connected to the cats at all, so my feelings is it wouldn't mess with the truck or would it? I was thinking of just removing the two cats in the true dual, and replacing the segments with pieces of pipe, would that be sufficient?

View 13 RepliesSo I have a non ebpv pedestal I was going to clean my sensor on the front because my mileage has went down a bit. My question is is this even worth doing since the valve is not there anymore I have got mixed answers trying to look it up some say it still affects the mileage some say it won't. I cleaned it once about 10 years ago. I have an AE also how do I test it and what should it read if I do need to clean it or replace it?

1) Our 2008 dodge grand caravan's recycled cabin air/exterior air flipper is broken. You know, makes the clicking clunking sound until it gives up?
2) Unfortunately this has made the exhaust smell that much worse.
Usually when you drive above 35mph you don't catch engine fumes, but when its anything less you fear you're poisoning your family into early cancer. Obviously we have a leak in the HVAC system somewhere and anytime we take it somewhere for service on something else they just shrug their shoulders.
How to locate the leak so I can keep the engine compartment out of our a/c?
Finally had a good scan done on my truck at the mechanics. The reoccurring codes were P0478 and P0470. It looks like a bad exhaust pressure control sensor. Looks like an easy fix.

When I tried to throw it back into gear, it wouldn't engage at all, just had a slight grind almost like the sound of a chain coming off a bike (so I pushed back in the clutch and parked it). I haven't been having any issues with it nor have I been driving it hard.

View 4 RepliesI've been getting bad gas mileage for the past two years or so. I also get a fume smell when I run the car for a while. I have strong suspicion there might be a leak in one of the exhaust gaskets.
I'll be changing the exhaust manifold gasket and both exhaust flange gaskets. I'll also be changing both O2 sensors. The car runs well and smooth. It's just those two things.
This is a 2000 EX with 146k miles on it bone stock. I have not done any of the regular maintenance on it yet or even gotten to really check this problem out. I am not driving it at this time mainly due to this problem.
The noise is heard the best at the rear of the engine and underneath the truck as the video shows. It seems to slightly change in sound (maybe a tad bit quieter) once I put it in gear (drive and reverse), I have not really heard a change in it after the truck has warmed up either. It does not sound at all really metallic to me..

2000 excursion, 4X4, V10
A few days after the job was completed I noticed that the top stud on the driver's side closest to the firewall has signs of oil leaking from inside the hole. This is a hole that I had to drill and insert an 8mm Heli-coil. I was very careful on the depth of the hole I drilled. I tried removing the bolt and placing JB Weld high temperature epoxy into the hole and reinstalled the bolt. I waited over 24 hours for the epoxy to cure and then I checked for leaks. The leak re-appeared but has slowed down quite a bit. I have a USB endoscope that I will be using to inspect the inside of the hole to see if I can see where the leak is actually coming from. I am in no position to replace the head but I will do whatever it takes to get the truck back into service.
After 7 days in my garage, I finally removed/replaced all 20 manifold studs. I had to cut off all of the nuts to remove the manifolds. I was able to remove 17 out of 20 studs by using a 6 inch pipe wrench and a lot of coaxing. 3 of the studs were already snapped off inside the head. I drilled out two and was able to get them tapped for a Heli-coil. The third stud I broke a 1/8" cobalt drill bit inside and it took 4 days to get enough of the hole drilled out to get a Heli-coil inserted.
