Rear view mirror, the tempurature/compass work fine when the vehicle is sitting still.
As the car accelerates, the mirror "temp & compass" begin to flash all sorts of digits and then goes blank. Mirror is plugged in properly.
Is there a temp probe somewhere under the hood that could be loose and starts to move upon driving? It works fine when not in motion.
Overhead compass went blank. Could it be a sensor outside or is compass kaput?

I would like to install a Homelink mirror with compass on my wife's 2015 3, but a search on here is not coming up with much info on this install on the newer vehicles. It does seem like I found a post where the mirror that was purchased would not work for some reason. I did one on our 2011 (purchased new in 2011) when we bought it and I was able to find enough info to feel comfortable buying a mirror on E-bay and being sure it would work. Anyway, I guess I would like to know if the mount on the windshield is still the standard wedge mount and if there is anything else I need to know/watch for.
View 1 RepliesI just picked up my car from the body shop and noticed the outdoor temp display in the MFD blank (3 dashes) and the AC is blowing hot air. I don't hear the compressor going on either. The AC was working fine until I brought it in. (Why does it always end up like this?!)
Since this was an insurance claim due to a motorcyclist hitting the front driver panel and ripping off a portion of the bumper, the body shop said they didn't touch anything with the AC.
I'm bringing the car back in tomorrow morning so they can have a look and determine whether it was loss related. Is there a sensor in that area? What to check? I have the manual climate system (climactic?).
My outside temperature reading on my '05 (6.0 PSD EB) Ex has recently gone black..no reading. I haven't noticed any other issues, just no outside temp readings... Do these sensors go bad or ? Is it a big deal to change them out?
I was told it should be located just to the side of left hand (drivers side) headlight behind the grill, a small black cube (approx. 1 inch square) with three wires coming out of it. However, I'm not finding it there.
Where is the temp sensor located? Is there a fuse covering this sensor?
Having overhead blue compass and clock start unexpectedly flashing on and off? Its like a strobe effect. Mine does that occasionally. What that may be?

View 14 RepliesWhile driving I noticed that the compass is not working or its gone into some mode or something. It shows PM 0:15. Pressing any of the 3 buttons doesn't do anything except holding down the 2 small buttons at the same time brings the name/version of the compass software and releasing seems to reboot or refresh the display. But after that it comes back to PM 0:15. I should also say that after parking and locking the car the display keeps flashing the PM 0:15. 15 minutes later I checked same thing it is still flashing. Whats happening to my compass?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2000 F-150 5.4 SC 4x4 XLT. It has the overhead temperature and direction display. It has started flashing randomly. I don't know how to describe it, but I have a couple videos. Sometimes it doesn't illuminate at all for a while. What is messed up to cause this and could excessive water splashing cause it. It started after going down my driveway which ha water running deep in both tracks the whole 1/2 mile.

I have a 2001 F350 and the temp read-out on the mirror hasn't worked since I got the truck in 2004. Where the sensor is. I found a connector on the back side the core support on the driver's side that has nothing plugged in. Could this be where it should be?
View 4 RepliesI am currently having an issue with my 2003 Yukon XL. Randomly, but mostly associated with hot outside air temps or while pulling our camper the truck will just shut off. Almost like we turned off the ignition. We don't get any sputtering or misfiring, nor does the CE light come on. After about 3-5 min we can start the truck up and keep on going. On the hot days it may do it a few more times but on others it wont do it again for weeks. I recently had it looked at and the mechanic thought it was a fuel pump. But after finding out the cost of the repair I did some investigating and found other people have had this problem. They to were told it was a fuel pump. However after it was replaced they still have had the problem.
View 9 RepliesSo it was relatively cold this morning, but I've had my treg since Feb, so not colder than it's ever been. I pull out of my garage and head to the gym, coasting at low speeds (35mph roads, etc.).
Out of the blue, i hear a single chime (same as seatbelt chime) and at the bottom of the MFI I see what looks like a snowflake and 39* (where * = degrees) flashing. After about 30 seconds it stops flashing and goes away.
I have a 2003 GMC Yukon XL 1500 4 WD. Ive been getting a loud bang ( like a hammer strike on the front frame) on occasion only after backing up and it happens after the truck moves forward a bit. You can almost feel the truck loading up and then it gives with a loud hammer like bang. Ive had a tech check the front end and do an alignment. I had thought it might be a brake hanging up.
View 2 RepliesCoolant temps getting much higher than oil temps under load. Is there any problem that could cause this other than a bad temperature sensor? Reading temps with an Edge CTS 2 monitor. Think I'm going to hook up a mechanical gauge in the morning and see what it shows.

View 1 RepliesI'm working on a 2003 Gmc yukon xl, which is the same as the suburban. Check engine light is on and the codes P0220 (TPS sensor) and P1518 (TAC throttle actuator control) are on. I've cleared both codes drove the vehicle all day, but when I shut it off and start it back up the two codes are back on and a message on the dash says reduced power, and there is no throttle. However if I clear the codes everything goes back to normal until I shut the thing off again and the 2 codes pop on and it says reduced power... Now I've cleaned the tps sensor electrical connector thinking this was the problem, but no luck.
View 8 RepliesI bought a used Toyota Prius last winter and when the weather became hot I tried to use my AC and it worked well for a while before the Ac light FLASHING and then the AC doesn't work but the fan still working and the air became hot more than the outside temperature !! And that only happen when the weather temperature is 30c or over !! So I took it an AC tech and he told me he couldn't do anything to it because it's a hybrid car and it uses 600W Ac, so I took it to the Toyota dealer and they looked at it and they didn't know what is the exact problem so they told me I need to change the clutch relay and if it didn't work then I need to change the Magnetic Clutch.

View 6 Replies2003 XL 5.3L with a leaking fuel line between the tank and filter. Mechanic says that this line is only available in a kit that includes all fuel lines for the truck. Hard to believe you can't just get the one line.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2003 GMC Yukon, 5.3 engine with 4x4, and with flex fuel option. The vehicle is making a vibration type sound. The sound is almost like a buzzing type sound. It's not overly loud and it's a low vibration buzz. This sound is not continuous, but occurs when the accelerator is applied. It will last for several seconds and then go away. This happens between the speed of 0-40 mph, but only when the accelerator is pressed. The vehicle will not make any vibration sounds when coasting. At speeds of 45+mph, there is no noise even when the accelerator is applied. I tried to pin point the sound, but it is very hard to locate. My best guess would be at the rear of vehicle. Maybe even where the fuel tank is located. This wouldn't be the fuel pump? I don't have any problems starting the vehicle or loss of power though.
