Volvo :: 740GL - How To Get Top Bolt Out Of Starter

1990 740 gl with 225000 miles and as a routine maintenance I want to clean my solenoid and maybe flip the contact and clean up the plunger on the bendix (inside the solenoid). No biggy right. I know my way around this car, replaced water pump, fuel pump, fuel filter, injector o rings, etc., sensor, etc over time.

The starter though wow - how do you get access to the top bolt? From top side I took off the bellows to intake manifold ( air breather element)but that top bolt I cannot see how to access with a short socket.

From the bottom I can get at that bottom bolt easily enough and actually got it out no problem but that top one wow. From underneath it seems like there horizontal room not vertical room due to the tranny dipstick.

This is the only part I am having trouble with, everything else on this car is pretty clean and clear. Again top starter bolt access tips on how to get it out without stripping it.

i left it for a hour or so came back and it started and i drove away and only went a few kms home.... what would this be i haven't driven it since!!

Volvo :: 740GL - Weakening Of Injector Pulse (Ground Side)

My friend like to get his 1990 740GL back on the road. It starts and dies. Narrowed it down to injector pulse. Noid light is bright the first couple pulses then gets weaker and weaker while cranking to almost nothing. Tried a new radio suppression relay.

Tested the voltage to the positive side of the injector plug and it is full voltage with no drop from battery voltage. I tested the negative side of the injector plug for resistance to pin 19 on the ECU and it was perfect no resistance. I thought that was a pretty good sign the ECU was bad. Replaced it. Jetronic and same exact number. Same exact symptoms. I checked the grounds on the valve cover to firewall and the ground on the intake from the harness.

What else could it be?The ECU I replaced is in the passengers kick panel. Is there another computer for the injectors?

My 1989 740GL has a blower motor that doesn't work; I looked into it and discovered a blown 30A fuse. So I replaced fuse and guess what? "POP"! No luck... It keeps blowing them, so I really haven't looked that far into it, but where I might start?

Volvo :: 244 1977 Model - No Starter / Ignition Seems Ok

Have an issue on my 244 .1977 model. Sometimes the car won't kick over. The ignition seems ok but no starter....then after a while it will kick over and can't seem to find the problem. I'm pretty sure it's a connection issues somewhere but looking at the manual, there is a start inhibitor which I want to check but I'm not sure where all these are under the bonnet...the manual doesn't give any location.

I just changed my 2006 volvo s60 battery (located in the boot). Now everything works, the locks, the lights, the radio etc, but when i try to start the engine, it wont start. The starter is working, but engine wont follow. The manual of the car is in Dutch, so I was wondering, how to reset the security system or the immobilizer or whatever it is, that wont let me start the car.

Passat (B5) :: Bolt Loose On The Tie Rod

Have 2001 B5 2.8 4Mo. I have the bolt loose on the tie rod. I have the nut loose on the pinch bolt. I have the lock nut loose on the linkage. The tie rod will slip out 1/4 inch but will not come out of the way. I have hammered the crap out of it. Still no go.

Silverado :: 5.3l Oil Pan Bolt Torque Settings?

I have replaced my oil pan gasket with a felpro. I had oil leaking from the top of the oil filter. This oil pan has the filter going through it. I have replace the oil cooler cap and gasket and finally replaced the oil pan gasket. It worked. I do no have any leaks from above the filter. But I am leaking from inside the bell housing. It is still coming from the oil pan and nowhere else. (I have dye in the oils and can see it leaking)

SO I went back to the Haynes to recheck the torque settings. I originally torqued all of the bolts for 89 inch lbs Per the haynes manual)

here is what it says:

oil pan bolts:

step one (to engine and front cover)............89 in-lbs
step two (to rear cover).............................18 foot-lbs

this step two is not too clear.....

which bolts are the bolts to the rear cover??

what I think this means is the 2 long rear bolts that go to the rear cover should be 18 foot-lbs. in the haynes manual they are bolts 13 and 14.

Is this right.....I started to do this but then stopped becuase I felt I was going to strip the bolts.

This kind of makes sense due to there are no other bolts in the middle of the rear of the pan to the block.

Torque Specification For Oil Pan Drain Bolt On 3.5L?

Looking for ccess to a '13 Toyota Factory Service Manual (FSM) that states the torque specification for the oil pan drain bolt on the 3.5L?

If the '13 FSM is similar to the '05 FSM, the torque value will appear on the diagram that shows the oil pan assembly. I believe the spec is 30 ft-lbs (with a new washer), but I want to confirm.

Camry 2012+ :: Oil Creeping Around The Bolt

Early around 8k on my 14.5 SE I had to have the valve cover gasket replaced due to oil creeping out of the edge of the valve cover close to the air filter box. Now yesterday as I was replacing my fog light bulbs I noticed that there is some oil creeping around the bolt on the bottom where the Transmission casing joins the engine.

I understand that I'm putting a lot of miles on this car (10K now), but I really don't feel like its right for a car to have such oil leaks so early in its life time.

I did change my motor mounts this weekend but when I tried to remove the sway bar,one of the nuts jammed on the bolt. Let me explain:The nut unscrewed well until the lasts mm, and then, the bolt head came loose, so it was spining freely with no way to remove it but cutting it, the bolt seems to be BUILT IN the alum. bracket that supports the engine mount. Question: can I change this bolt or is it really built in the bracket? I searched on ETKA but it just shows the nut and I can't find the bolt that I need.

how long should the bolts be that mount the distributor to the (non-california) 5sfe? I'm putting my car back together (finally) and the only bolts from my pile that fit are one that is too long, and two that are only a couple threads longer than the width of the distributor flange. simplest conclusion is that the latter are the bolts that were there, but does that seem right?

Golf V R32 :: Ball Joint Bolt Broke Off

I was putting on the H& R sports springs tonight and was onto the last corner, front passenger when one of the 3 ball joint bolts broke off. It was so rusted that the nut didn't want to come loose. I used too much force and out came the piece. Do I just go buy a new ball joint at the local VW dealer and swap it out. I didn't touch the other two and the car is still driveable. It's the middle one, exactly as shown in this photo from the DIY.

I'm in process of replacing the rear strut and I can't remove the way bar link bolt out. It is really tight into the inner rubber and it won't buzz. The bolt sits in a way that I can't use a hammer.
