I have an erratic fuel gauge. I have to reset odometer at every gas fill up to keep track of mileage. Need to replace the unit but I tried the GM Fuel treatment Plus in the gas tank first.
View 4 RepliesI'd heard that the new Prius V would give you stats on your latest trip. I see where it will tell you how long you've driven, but I was under the impression that it also did your MPG for the latest trip too?
Also, my 2008 would automatically reset the trip odo upon fill up. Not the tripA or tripB odo's, but the one on the consumption screen. Does the new one do something similar? I new at every fill up that I would reset the MPG's for that tank whenever the miles reset. I can't find an analog to that in the new screens.
How are people calculating MPG's per tank, computer wise?
When I filled up with gas today the mileage in the display didn't reset to back to zero after I turned the car back on and drove away. Is this indicative of a problem, or is it just a fluke?

View 3 Replies2004 Venture LT ... The newest problem I am having that I haven't resolved is that the fuel gauge is showing empty, low fuel light on, range on trip computer says (E). I repaired the wiring harness's on the left and right front due to ac leakage, and I also repaired the pass through behind the drivers seat. This seemed to resolve many of the problems I was having.
The thing I noticed is that before I repaired the pass through connector the gauge would work intermittently but now its totally dead. I find it unlikely that the sender and the connector would go out at the same time. Any wiring diagram of that connector, or at least which color the wires are for the sending unit and the resistance values I should get?
Having problems with the fuel indicator not reading full after a fill up. I have slowly filled my 2012 Passat TDI SEL till I can see diesel in the filler neck and the gauge still only shows 7/8 full?

View 7 RepliesI have a 2002 Prius, and I have been struggling trying to get it fix. But it's either one thing to the next without completely knowing what's what. Recently, the right front bearing and the left rear bearing, both front struts/shocks, right balljoint, and two front brakes were replaced.
Before these replacements, I had a P1436 code for the valve which was lube but nothing happened. Then after replacing the front struts/shocks, turn the car on for a test drive, brake light and check engine light came on, speed odometer it not working. I used the OBII scanner from autozone and got P0500 said: vehicle speed sensor A malfunction.
I have a 2007 F150 XLT with 150K Km. Recently the fuel gauge rises slowly ( 2 start up or 40 minutes of driving ) to the full mark after fill up. The truck is always fueled with Cheveron "regular" gas. What could be the problems ... float, sensor, fuel gauge? and how to check them?
View 13 RepliesYesterday went to fill up ($4.05 a gallon geezz!) and noticed that after getting back into the cab, the fuel gauge still showed almost empty. So after yelling a few expletives, I looked again and noticed the gauge starting to make it's way up the dial. It took almost 30 min. before it showed almost full. I'm not sure what the problem is, as the gauge seems to still function. I don't drive the truck much as I use it as a tow vehicle. However, I do try and take it for a spin about 3-4 times a month just to exercise it. I was wondering if the fuel has started to gel and that is the reason for the slow fuel gauge response. Should I add a fuel conditioner/cleaner now that I have a full tank?

View 2 RepliesNot the usual. I stopped on my way home to get gas tonight when the gauge was showing one pip. Naturally it wasn't low, but I'm used to that.
The odd thing is that after I got in the car and turned it back on the gauge stayed at one pip and the fuel display on the multi-function display didn't reset.
Just for grins I used a GPS mileage logger app on my phone to compare to the mileage logged on the car. The app was launched well before taking off and so there was a good satellite fix.
Trip summary on the car logged 15.9 miles, and the GPS logged 15.52 miles. Tires are stock 17" Toyo Proxes down to 4/32nds. What do you think of this discrepancy?
How to reverse this or do I need to make another trip to the dealership?

My clock, radio stations, the consumption (miles since last fill up) all reset, so I'm wondering if the count to 5000 reset also. The odometer did not reset though, and the gas tank amount was correct. Just wondering because I didn't write down when my last oil change was.

View 5 RepliesI've had my XB 5-speed for nearly a year and 10000 miles. It as been dead on reliable and fun to drive. My gas mileage has varied from 26 to 31 in mixed driving and from 32 to 35 on the highway. I use premium fuel only because I can get it without ethanol. My fuel mileage also increased a couple of mpg due to getting the power robbing ethanol out. True it is probably not enough to offset the extra expense but I like not having the stuff in my car. My only dissatisfactions has been with the transmission gear ratios. They are way to low. This torquy engine could easily do with a ratio that would drop about 500 rpm for more relaxed highway cruising.
As it is, though, my XB will go up any hill or long grade without breathing hard! Another is the instrumentation. I don't mind the center mounted set-up but speedometer and trip meter for mpg ratings are both inaccurate. My speedo reads about 2.5 mph high and the fuel mileage read out has about the same error, also on the high side. I have the stock 16" tires. The clutch has a narrow engagement band and can be difficult to be smooth on. The car is fairly quiet, is comfortable and this years hot, humid summer has shown it has one of the best air conditioners I have ever experienced in a car. I thought it might be an electric unit rather than a belt driven compressor because there is absolutely no perceived drag when the compressor kicks on.
