Venture :: Flowmaster End Muffler On 99 / Will That Increase Mileage
Mar 24, 2012
When I put on a Flowmaster end muffler on my '99 Venture....will that increase my mileage? I mean does the engine needs the original tail pipe pressure to perform the best mileage?

Have a 1992 F-350 4x4, 429 V8; auto transmission with o/d. I tow a fifth wheeler. Without camper if I stay under 50mph I get 11 mpg; doing almost anything else gets 8 mpg; towing brings it down to 6.5 mpg.How can I increase gas mileage. I drive with a light foot and slow start and stop.

So in one of the owner's manuals, Lexus states that use of EV mode does NOT increase overall mileage. I was surprised by that. If this is the case why have it? I have been using EV mode after I get off the freeway and drive a couple of miles through our subdivision. I deplete the battery almost completely (2 bars) but make it into the garage. Will this damage the traction battery and should this not improve the mileage. The engine runs in the morning anyway to warm up and the battery charges up then. I am just wondering how others use the EV mode.

Been doing some research about MPG and towing. Can-Am RV recomends lowering your TT to increase mileage. I'm wondering if I could get lower profile (or just shorter) tires on my rig whether I could increase my mileage because of lowered wind resistance. I've weighed the rig so I know what my per axle weights are. My current tire capacity (Michelin M/S load range E) is way over the posted axle weights on the truck.

I'm just curious...if somebody drives a PHV Prius like a regular Prius (not using the 13 mile pure EV mode range), could they theoretically get better gas mileage by staying in the electric part of the hybrid system indicator?

Winter is over and summer is here. Will running with the AWD module unplugged increase fuel mileage? Will it do any harm to the drivetrain? (Assume matched tires, good alignment and suspension).
Signed, Looking to squeeze a buck anyway I can.

I have an erratic fuel gauge. I have to reset odometer at every gas fill up to keep track of mileage. Need to replace the unit but I tried the GM Fuel treatment Plus in the gas tank first.

I was wondering if one would experience increased fuel mileage &/or power with the 5.0 by using unleaded premium gas, and if so, how much? I know this is true w/ the 6.2L in the F-250, and was wondering if the same applied to the 5.0?

I have recently noticed that the ODO meter of the car does not work i.e. it is stuck at the reading (57735 km) it was on when I got the car and does not record/show the increase in mileage. the trip A and B are working perfectly fine. I took the car to the local Toyota dealer but he has no clue what is wrong with it, the guy there suggested that ECU is working fine but the ODO meter is damaged and needs replacement.
I am not sure what the guy at the dealership suggested is correct because what i think is that if ODO gets damaged then the whole speedo meter should mal function.

What kind of mpg increase one would see if they were to increase the tire pressures from recommended (35 F/33 R psi) to max (44 F/ 42 R). Any stats of tracked?

2002 5.4L XLT. Just want to upgrade the exhaust on a budget to get better mpg. Pretty settled on a Flowmaster 40 swapped in, no fancy pipes or tips or anything. Just wanted to know how the interior drone was at highway speeds (75-80). I drive 15-20 min of highway to/from work give or take if I get off and take back roads home.

Putting a FLowmaster Hushpower on a 6.2 super duty? I have the muffler out now and hate the sound it makes at 2.5 rpm. Just wondering if it gives a deep tone and if it works for the drone sound in the cab.

I've had my XB 5-speed for nearly a year and 10000 miles. It as been dead on reliable and fun to drive. My gas mileage has varied from 26 to 31 in mixed driving and from 32 to 35 on the highway. I use premium fuel only because I can get it without ethanol. My fuel mileage also increased a couple of mpg due to getting the power robbing ethanol out. True it is probably not enough to offset the extra expense but I like not having the stuff in my car. My only dissatisfactions has been with the transmission gear ratios. They are way to low. This torquy engine could easily do with a ratio that would drop about 500 rpm for more relaxed highway cruising.
As it is, though, my XB will go up any hill or long grade without breathing hard! Another is the instrumentation. I don't mind the center mounted set-up but speedometer and trip meter for mpg ratings are both inaccurate. My speedo reads about 2.5 mph high and the fuel mileage read out has about the same error, also on the high side. I have the stock 16" tires. The clutch has a narrow engagement band and can be difficult to be smooth on. The car is fairly quiet, is comfortable and this years hot, humid summer has shown it has one of the best air conditioners I have ever experienced in a car. I thought it might be an electric unit rather than a belt driven compressor because there is absolutely no perceived drag when the compressor kicks on.

So I bought a 2006 impala SS about 2-3 months ago. After a month of having it I put flowmaster 40 series mufflers on it. Ever since I put the mufflers on I've had problems with the car stalling out at random times and then not being able to start up for around 20 mins. I took it back to the dealer and they can't seem to figure out what's wrong. It's been to the shop three different times because they thought they fixed it a couple times.

I have a 1992 SC Coupe I was just given for free from my Cousin. It has 92, 000 miles on it. The car looks in great shape, it drives smooth. But in the front under the hood there is a loud engine noise almost like there is no muffler on the car, you acutally hear it loud inside th car also. But the sound is in the front. After about 15 min of warming up the car the sound is gone. A freind suggested there could be a crack in the manifold.

Putting a magnaflow muffler on the 99.5 2.0 slow jetta on Wednesday and I realized I don't have a rear GLI lip. Any single turn down extension off a muffler ? Or just run a straight pipe off the muffler ? Clearance with the rear lip issues ?

Have the APR RSC exhaust - developed rattles, specifically in one of the RSC muffler chambers?
I've had my exhaust installed for almost 6 months. About 2-3 months ago, I noticed a rattle from under the car somewhere. I finally got underneath the car a few weeks ago to check it out and the rattle is most definitely coming from the rear RSC muffler (right before the exhaust tips). I'm positive that's the source and I'm guessing that the welds inside for the baffles / walls that compose the RSC technology failed, and a piece is now rattling around inside. It only rattles at low RPM, but it's loud (especially in a parking garage) and super embarrassing.
