Found the problem with the growing sound in the front end on a 07 trailblazer had just replaced both tie rods, cv shafts, inner transfer case bearings and seals and tires still getting the growling sound thinking it could be wheel bearings but there $100 a piece.
View 12 RepliesThe Trailblazer quit running like it ran out of gas. I had it towed and put a new fuel pump in it. When I try starting it, it acts like it isnt firing. It is also clicking over what looks like a carburetor next to the breather. It clicks really fast and keeps on till I turn the key off. I can see what I think is the coil packs and it is to the right of this. I have replaced the battery as well. The engine will turn over but wont fire.

View 2 RepliesI was coming home from a trip and started to here this banging sound coming from the passenger side in the front under the vehicle. It already sounds like it busted up some gears cause you can here it being tossed around inside the casing. The vehicle will drive but once I get to around 10 mph it would start banging sounding like gears are messed up.
There is no binding there is nothing that makes the car slower but something is broke. I am wondering if there is a gear box under there near the center console and over to the passenger side in the front. Funny thing is... Is that it started in the back rear but stopped then the front started and then broke something. The back is fine though. Think this could be the All wheel drive also or some part of it.
Got a 2007 Santa Fe CM (Europe) with 160k km. I'm currently trying to figure out how to fix the clunk noise in the front of the vehicle. I am aware about the TSB 12-DS-002 where they recommend changing the drive shaft washer, but since that's a lot of work I want to make sure that this is really the problem.
The noise is not always there. Sometimes you can hear the clunk when decelerating, but not always. You can also sometimes hear a clunk when going from D to R. It sounds like a driveshaft has some play, and a change in the direction of the force causes it to slam into the other side. However, you can't feel it, so there is definitely not a lot of force behind it. You can only hear it.
However, I asked some guys to shift between R and D while I'm outside so that I can figure out where the sound comes from. However, murphy's law, it didn't made any clunk. And after shifting between R and D for like 20 times I felt bad for my transmission and stopped it.
The clunk is not always there, just sometimes. It doesn't really make sense to me, if its really play in a driveshaft it should be always there? Also the clunk started at about 155k km, now I got 160k.
Is there any further diagnostics I could do?
I have a 2011 camry le, just got its 10,000 service the other day. When I am stopped with my foot on the brake and the vehicle in drive gear, I can hear a rattle coming from the front. But when i let go of break and accelerate it stops rattling. I told the dealer at the service but they told me they could no duplicate it.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2003 Explorer 4.0l 4x4 auto. Yesterday day the passenger rear tire got a flat, so I put the full size spare on, and went about my business. About 2 miles up the road is a stop sign, so I start slowing down, and while slowing down I can hear a whining thumping sound from the front of the vehicle. It wasn't doing this before the flat, but right after I put the spare on it starts to do this. It only happens when slowing down, not under acceleration.

I can only describe it as some sort of loud clicky clanky sound, it's also a single sound, it doesn't go on and on and it only happens when I apply the brakes.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2005 2wd trailblazer with about 100k miles. When the car first starts for the day it has a loud whining sound for about 30 seconds. Sounds like it is coming from transmission. After the 30 seconds all is good. It has been getting progressively worse. Almost sounds like a jet engine. The sound will sputter and few times and stop. Its not the clutch fan or belts. It definitely from the back side of the motor.

The sound I’m hearing happens intermittently. I took it by a mechanic, and of course it didn’t make the sound. It sounds like you are driving over rumple strips found on the shoulder of expressways. I then feel a “drag” and it goes away. What’s going on?

both of the trucks have a 'squeak' in the front end when traveling over a bumpy road.. any fixes.
Just replaced front calipers on 2005 Trailblazer, when I tried to bleed I get no fluid to either caliper. I lost some fluid in the master but I filled it and checked rear brakes they work fine and have fluid, and I got no air from them. I also added fluid to each caliper.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2004 Chevy trailblazer. I got in to got o the store the other day and realized that my rear door speakers were not working. I checked fuses and none were blown. I have a line out splitter attached to the rear speaker wires behind the stock radio for my subs. My subs are still pumping, so that tells me that the radio is putting out signal to those rear speaker wires, but still nothing from each of the rear doors. I am curious if there is a simpler way to fix this aside from taking the rear doors apart to check the speakers. is it possible the radio is shot? what are the chances that both door speakers blew at the same time?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 Trailblazer EXT 4wd. I have an issue with my front driveshaft. I have been hearing a squeaking in a tin can kind of sound. It is kind of hard to describe. I thought front brakes. Checked them and they are fine. I crawled up under the front end and took off the skid shield to look around. Since it was in 2wd I tried to turn the front driveshaft by hand and there was the sound. The driveshaft does turn and the sound was appearing to come from the front diff.
I thought "Oh Crap" is there fluid in the front diff. It would make sense if it was empty to make a sound like this. I unscrewed the filler hole and there was fluid. Then I decided to flush and fill the front diff with fresh fluid. It was pretty dark and I don't know when the last time the front diff was serviced. I took it out for test drive and still have the noise. What i am asking now is what to look for next? Like I said, when turning the front driveshaft by hand in 2wd it makes that sound.
By the way, 4wd works just fine in all modes.
My 2007 TrailBlazer with 84K stumbles for 25 seconds when I start up cold. After 25 seconds I hear a click and then it runs perfect. No engine codes present. Have new plugs, new O2 sensor, new thermostat.
View 5 RepliesI own a Trailblazer 02' LS and its at 152,000 miles at this point. I am currently debating on whether its a better strategy to fix this current issue (explained further below) or start saving for another vehicle.
The problem I am having is the truck will sound extremely rough at random periods when im off the gas pedal. Sometimes it will try and shut off but comes back to me when jam on the gas pedal. Also sometimes during all of this, The oil pressure gauge will drop to 0 and go back up once I hit the gas pedal.
Random things: AC buttons 1-4 don't work but 5 does sometimes. It also Idles at 500 RPM's instead of 1000 like I've seen on other newer cars.
I had an interesting ride home tonight. I accidentally lowered my front passenger window a little bit and when I tried to raise it I just got a clicking noise. So I drove along hitting the button, hoping the window would close, but it wouldn't. Then, the dash lights and head lights started pulsating/flickering. The engine power wasn't affected and the battery gauge wasn't moving. My vehicle is a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with 173,0000 miles on it. Replaced the battery a few years back and have had no other electrical problems.
View 19 RepliesWhile driving at night time the headlights will go out at random. The marker lights will stay on and the lights will still not turn on if I switch the light switch from "automatic" to "on". When the lights are out I can use the high beams while in "automatic" or "on".
View 4 Replies I am on my 4th lexus; GS2010 (I currently own). I was driving off (very slow speed) from the dealership I noticed a rubbing/scrubbing noise front the front of the vehicle. The next day I started the car and backed out of my garage, put on brakes, turned the steering wheel to the far right and pressed slightly on the accelerator and I heard another noise; sounded like CV Joints going bad. So I contacted the dealer and they told me to bring the vehicle over. The noise was heard and they applied grease to something (cant remember what).
The next morning the noise was back; be mindful the noise is intermittent but mostly after the car has sat and never when the brake is applied. So I contacted Lexus and let them know the problem.
Finally I returned to Lexus, by appointment, and test drove with the lead service tech. The tech identified the noise several times during the drive; hard turns recreated the issue. Lexus contacted me and stated that they had welded something and that should ahve fixed the problem.
However the next day same problem; so I contacted Lexus again. When I returned from a business trip I returned the vehicle. On 5/23 I received a call stating that the tech could not duplicate the noise and if I could come and ride (again). So I left work and went. As soon as we got in the car (tech driving), he put the car in drive and made a sharp left turn (click, click, click); and the scrubbing noise got worse. Now instead of scrubbing on left or right hand turn, now its scrubbing going forward. So I asked why couldn't he do that without me. I had left "specific" notes as to when it happens, keep the windows rolled up, of course don't turn on radio and drive normal. So I left the car.
On 5/30 they had the vehicle fixed (yeah right); they adjusted the rear backing plate. Ok so you had my car 1 week, total time about 2+ weeks and the noise was coming from the backing plates ( I said this to myself). As usual the noise came back and I contacted Lexus. I brought the car back in on 6/13/14 and they replaced the right axle. My thoughts, if you are hearing it from both sides why wouldn't you replace both sides (??). Ok took the car home and again before I left the lexus lot, the noise was back. So I called the dealership right away. I did not turn around, I went home to pack for another business trip. Also if i would have turned around I probably would have given them a piece of my mind and that would not have been good for the situation. I was feed up so upon arrival from my business trip I scheduled an appointment with another lexus dealership; same owner but another location.
I take the car in and they call back the following week and say it was the front right caliper and it was replaced; however he stated that he didn't hear the clicking noise. I pick the car up on July 22, and by July 23, I was taking the car back. The rubbing noise they claim came from the tires and they couldn't duplicate the clicking noise. On July 29, they called me in to ride with the tech; be mindful I still have a loaner. They took me to the repair department and my car was on a lift and they dropped it down. The tech asked if I wanted to drive and I told him he could drive. I also pointed at the car that was on the lift directly beside mine and stated that by the time we get to that car you will hear the noise. he heard the noise.
On July 30, they figured out the problem and told me that they had good and bad news. The good news was they found the problem and the bad news is they can't fix it. It is a typical noise for that vehicle and it comes from the brake actuators. So I went to pick my vehicle up on next day and I asked if they bleed/flushed the brakes and he said No; and then I asked him if he replaced the actuators and he said No. So lets recount the events, You have had my car for 2 weeks with specific directions and couldn't duplicate the noise.
I come and ride with the tech and magically the noise is replicated within seconds and magically you know the problem; however you dont give me any explanation and nothing was done to confirm. That let me know they googled and came to this site and by this brake actuator issue being ongoing with no resolution they blame it on it. However the problem is that the noise is not made when braking, its made when the wheel is turned and the accelerator is inclined.
