The OEM DVD player in my '04 started having problems with occasionally displaying a disc format error across the screen. The movie usually still plays, but the lettering is stays on the screen. If you go back through the menus it will sometimes go away or you just have to eject and reload the DVD. Now it does it pretty much everytime we turn the player on.

The info screen said "Pop up hood error", I asked the salesman about it and said that the car needs preparation and be reset....
I want to believe it but my mind is taking my opinion that something triggered the pop up hood pedestrian protection... maybe a little hit? I don't know.... and maybe the salesman is being honest and it is normal.
The bumper is all ok, no signs of damage, (the car arrived yesterday and my girlfriend went to take a look).
So my radio occasionally when playing CD's will throw a "CD ERROR" on it's little digital screen. What happens is I will play a CD it will be playing fine, and not every time but sometimes the next CD I put in won't play and I get the error. Oh and when I eject CD's they are quite hot. Not burn your fingers hot, but hotter than from any other player I have had.
View 1 RepliesI have a Lariat 4x4 supercrew cab with a CD 6 disc changer head unit. Error message. No Disc, and Load Error. Will not eject any of the 6 loaded CDs. Pulled/reset fuse. No luck. Banged on dash while trying to eject any of the loaded CDs.. no luck. Unit cycles when first starting the engine. Radio works fine. Unit locked up....Ford Mx tech says the solenoid that holds the CD is frozen in position and will not release.

It had the same problem like 2 months back and I used a CD cleaner (with brush on a CD) and it worked fine and now it won't even read that disk. It's with navigation system. I went to a few car electronics shop around here and they don't do cleaning and servicing stuff. What are my options? Is there any place where I can send it and they fix it?

View 3 RepliesI am able to reproduce an error on my 2005's audio system. What "Error 4" means? I have to actually turn off the car to reset the CD player.
Here's how I reproduce it:
Background:It's a non-ML system
6-CD changer, cassette, AM/FM
I have six CD's loaded into the system
Steps:When listening to FM radio, push the CD button
Press the "Disk" up-arrow button rapidly (it is the radio station preset #4 button) to change disks. I usually cycle through five or six rapid disk changes, normally going from Disk 1 to Disk 6, in a fast manner.
Sure enough, after the fourth or fifth (maybe sixth) button press, "Error 4" flashes on the display. At this point, I can't do anything with the CD player. I can, however, switch to radio and listen as usual.
To reset the error message and to begin using the CD player again, I have to turn off the ignition. Turning off just the audio system doesn't reset the error.
Alternator on my 2006 GX failed, caused battery to discharge and vehicle stopped. Alternator was replaced, battery (was new) is testing fine. All electronics and indicator lights normal except Nav system. Display reads insert proper disc. I have ejected and reloaded disc multiple times, no change. Disc is OEM, one release back.

View 10 RepliesThe single disk cd player in my 07 Camry will not display the cd title information, track number or song title. It simply stopped displaying this information. The cd plays fine. It says "loading", then 'reading disk" and finally simply "CD". I tried several cd's and the title, track or title is not displayed. I checked the owners manual but there is no mention of how to fix this problem. I made an mp3 cd and the cd player reads all the mp3 info but still will not read data on a standard cd. Is there a "reset" somewhere to restore normal operation?

What I need to know is how to advance a CD and move to the next CD in line to be played. i.e., if I am playing CD #3 how do I advance to CD #4 without cycling through all of the songs on CD #3.

Nothing is displaying on the nav screen. I removed the MFD screen and inspected it can't find anything wrong with it the soldering looks fine. Is there anyway I can test the unit before buying one.

Yesterday morning my wife's JSW TDI wouldn't stay on after starting it. The screen kept displaying, "Key not in range". I swapped keys and every one of them did the same thing. It doesn't have keyless start, so it's not that. It would start then shut off like an immobilizer issue. I disconnected the battery terminal and reconnected it and that fixed it...for now. I did some research and everything I've found said the cluster needs replaced. I made a video of the display and the car shutting down.

Even though the audio section is the whole left side of the screen, it does not display the artist or song information for radio stations. If I click on audio, though, then in the full audio screen (with presets, etc.), it does show the artist and song information. How to get the info to display on the home screen?

View 5 RepliesMy car was working fine except for occasional no dash lights. Unfortunately where my dash lights don't work sometimes I can't see my gas gauge and I ran out of gas today. I manage to make it to the gas station on battery power I presume. Filled the tank up with 11 gallons and the car seemed to work fine for the remainder of my trip(about 5 miles). So I parked at my destination and went inside for 30 minutes and then I went back out and started the car. I attempted to clear the out of gas error code and all of a sudden a whole Christmas trees of lights popped on my dash. I rescanned and these codes were read out

History : I had the coolant pump inverter changed 2-3 months ago by a mechanic and hybrid battery and battery ecu changed 2 years ago by myself.
Ever since I've been using my SD card to play music, I have been getting an intermittent error that reads something like "Error reading SD Card" (I can't recall the exact wording). It seems to happen randomly, and sometimes I have to take out / reinsert the SD card a bunch of times before it reads it again...starts playing music for awhile...then gives me the error again.
It was mildly irritating at first, but now it seems to be happening more frequently and is downright maddening. Here are the details:
I have a 2011 GTI with the Premium stereo HU (what is that...the RDS-510?)
I am using a 16gb SDHC class 2 card
The error happens mid-song...not at the beginning or end of a song (so I don't think it's a particular file/s that is screwing things up)
MFI displayed a check lights error. Front drivers headlight was out. Started car 2 hours later and headlight worked fine. Seems strange.
